Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiast. I contact each person who send me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up what happened after what we see on their video. Voice over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

My dad got his car keyed in a parking lot. When he went into Bestbuy to ask if they’d let him see the security footage, they denied his request. That’s one thing that Tesla did right, having security cameras on the car itself.
If the damage was great enough, he may want to retain a lawyer who would probably be able to get that security footage. Another way, is to file a police report, but that depends on how aggressive the local police are on these things.
As a former retail employee I can regretfully confirm this. Unfortunately, retail business policies usually prevent employees from sharing video footage unless Police are called. To do so otherwise could result in termination depending on the company.
Yeh, stores are useless when it comes to getting any help from them
@@kckwlrjjrr if you get a lawyer, the lawyer can get an order to compel them to turn over any video. However, that’s pretty expensive.
If it’s above your deductible, you can file a claim with your insurance company and they may decide to hire a lawyer. However, if you’re gonna go that route, be sure to get a police report. It helps a lot.

I work in a body shop. When you key a car, it usually digs deep enough to disturb the primer. That means all along the length of the scratch i have to grind away all the paint and primer down to the bare metal. Then prime and paint. It is so much damage.

So sorry Leo. Thank God you had cameras.
Here's a tip from someone who's been a security guard for 15 years: Don't bother calling security. Just call the cops. Security has no special powers to do anything except document the incident for the client. The main job of security is to deter people from doing things because we are a witness. We have less rights than the average citizen. They wouldn't have been able to detain the guy. Security companies, for the most part, only want the guards to document because detaining can open a can of worms with liability. Plus, the cops tend to take their sweet ass time when a security guard calls them. They arrive quicker when the victim calls. Also, don't blame us when something happens. We can't be everywhere at the same time.

I think if you're caught vandalizing someone's car not only should you do time and fines but your personal vehicle should be crushed.

They should make it so the victim can key any pattern or drawing into the offender's car, legally.
Seems excessive. IMO, should be a fine + restitution, unless it's a multiple or repeat offense. Crushing a person's car is completely uncalled for and morally wrong.
Should be sold and paying all the other vandalism victims
He should get a "Racketeering" charge which actually carries more weight and would allow the government to seize his body shop. This is definitely a Racketeering job.
Thankfully this kind if thing is rare here in Japan. I guess it probably happens once in a while, but never seen or heard of it happening. Here people have respect for other people and their property. I always try to park my car away from everyone one else, so as to not get a dent or scratch from others if they accidentally bump their door onto my car. Most are very careful, but the worst ones for this are mothers with small children. They tend to whack open the door as wide as possible to get access to their kids and in doing so bump the door. Or the kids open the door onto another car. I have seen that before, and in some cases the mothers say nothing to the kids.
But deliberate vandalism is rare here.
Wish every society had those values.
You don't have the uncivilized there.
That's cause Japan has a culture of respect.

How about if they continuely park across a handicap ramp. All the time. Blocking access for wheelchair and bicycles. Is there ever a good reason. Same cars. Same spot. This kind of stuff makes me so nervous to drive an expensive car around or leave it in a parking lot. People are crazy and highly jealous
i live in the uk had my car done two times now
I don't own expense vehicles, regardless the public always finds a way to leave it mark on it...
Don't let haters stop ur grind
My buddy had his new car get damage overnight on the first night he left it out. People do get jealous unfortunately
@@Zeno7741 don't let them win by downgrading ur life
While I love videos like these, we can only cherish this moment in time where most vandals do not know about these camera features and not try to take out the cameras first.
nah this guy is just stupid.. he un-masked and show himself.. if he just took off and never came back, he would not be caught.
Don't give them ideas
@@blueshoes5145 now they know this feature on Tesla they will cover the camera next time. or worse break it..
surprised someone who keys teslas for fun is not aware of sentry mode..
Plot Twist: Leo and the vandal co-own the Go Auto Collision Body Shop and this is an elaborate ad.
He probably called a friend to brag about it and his friend said, WTF dude those things have like 18 cameras on them
The camera feature is amazing. This car keyer new what he was doing and think about this, this guy has probably done this 1000’s of times. He made sure the depth of the scratch was too deep to cut or sand out. In the UK it would have been £660 ($782) to have the whole side sprayed by a competent highly rated body shop pre pandemic.
I dont think so, a scratch that deep requires a complete paint job, and if you have people in the UK who can repaint an entire care with proper auto paint and bake it for 800 bucks then wow, you found some really REALLY cheap services..
There are like 6 coats of paint/treatment needed... this guy scratched to the metal dude. Every coat has to dry/cure properly in the right conditions. Thats why its so expensive.
A real man never messes with another man's car.
This world is lacking real men, canada and the japanese fucked with all my cars, never living in canada, or buying a japanese car again!
Can replace car with items over ten fucking dollars lol
No. just the guy's wife or mother.
The lights on a TESLA automaticly turn on if you walk within 10 feet of it. TESLAS will be vandalized daily until this is corrected.
Yup. It’s against the rules. It’s on Page 8 of the Real man’s manual.
Why do people do this, it is such an odd crime
That's like an undertaker moonlighting as a hitman.
Someone did this to my BMW while it was parked on the road while I was having my driveway redone. I honestly wish it had cameras like these Teslas.
Very Satisfied with this one! So glad one of these creeps finally has to pay for what they did.
Leaving a movie theater at night. Parking lot was on a slight hill. Car parked up the hill from me was using my car as a stop, they did not have their own car in park or the break engaged. If I had not noticed and driven away their car would have rolled and damaged something else. My friend wanted to key it but I thought that was a bit extreme. So I pushed it off my own car and engaged the break, leaving it in the middle of the lane with the doors open and the lights on.
What mindset must a person be in to commit such a crime. Mind boggling.
Let's not forget about the jerks who dent your vehicles when they open their car doors. They never own up to it. They should be jailed, also.
That is the worst. I even try to park far away, but always someone shows up real close. Im very careful and vigilant myself not to damage anyones property.
Yeah. I bloody hate these people.
Tesla really needs to update the app so that we can be notified when a person passes by so that we can live to the cameras right away somewhat like ring cameras and or best cameras.
They do have motion detection notification on the cameras but most will turn that off because century mode is already so taxing on the battery.
You seem a bit paranoid. Tesla's are ALWAYS recording even if you think it's not. When anything breaches it's proximity it will notify you of any issues. But the live feature doesn't seem like a bad idea but that idea could be used in several bad ways.
@@King_of_Africa I know that but the notifications come well after the situation is over, and it doesn’t alert your phone if a person passes by it only alerts you when something touches the car
@@FreeScripts if the features are implemented just like your standard home security camera system there is nothing to use it in a bad way for. It’s just simple, when a person passes by even if they don’t touch your car you get a quick notification, then you are able to just go to your live feed and watch to see if that person will do something, if it’s person just passing by you can just disregard. I know many people would love to catch the clowns in the act, and this feature would most likely allow that.
@TeslaFanBoy2.3 at least give people a choice 🤷🏾♂️
I had a old car that I spent nearly $15'000 in restoring to mint condition doing body work and new paint fresh professionaly. One day I came out and the car looked like a golf ball all small dents and keyed everywhere. Cost me $6500~ to repaint and get the car fixed again took me nearly a year to save it up again at that time. I think I'm happy that I wasn't around, because I would have regretted going to jail for making this person looking as a golfball ruining my own life.
well you don't own one off those overpriced kias so I believe you would and I don't blame you as long as its not Eletric people like that deserve that fate
This happened to me back in the 90's to my new 300ZX. Some guy ran right in front of me and I almost hit him so I laid on the horn. I parked but based on his angry reaction, I had a gut feeling he was going to do something to my car so I stood behind the wall. Sure enough I see him walking around coming back to my car and he had his keys in his hand. I took off after him and right before he got to my car I jumped him. It was awesome, he was a little guy and I'm a 5'9" female so he went down hard. Didn't know what hit him.
I used to own an auto detailing business and believe me, the factory paint is ALWAYS a LOT better than a repaint job.
All cars needs to have this feature
Keying the car and hail damage are the worst!!
That’s me! I really enjoy watching this channel and I’m glad I got a resolution for this incident. I’m very thankful for the supportive comments here!
Although, I don’t condone any of the racist attacks some commenters are making about the person on the video. He committed what I believe it’s a felony, but that’s it.
Attacking someone for how they look or where they might be from is low as the reported act.
I hope the true fans of this channel may agree with me and enjoy more videos coming next!
Leo, I’m the owner of the red Jeep that was also keyed! I have a case # with the APD but would like to somehow connect with you on this.
@@james4152 I’m trying to find a way to send you a contact without the comment being removed from yt.

This guy must have had a car keying fetish. I would be extremely upset to see my vehicle keyed; however, I would be overjoyed to have a fully detailed video of the incident. Well done Teslacam. 👏
Please tell me keying cars isn't a real fetish :)
If he has a fetish for it, then he should just scratch his own car.
- He's a psychopath and probably gets off watching when the victims come out of the store and discover what he's done.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Gotta have cameras Everywhere these days!
What a grub 😂
Whether for malice or for profit, sad to see so much evil being perpetuated today.
Atleast he was caught and thats what really matters.
I had a 240SX when I was a lot younger. It was keyed similarly. It didn’t have cameras like the Tesla’s do. So I had to pay out of own pocket to fix. It’s good to see that he was caught..
I wouldn't have a Tesla if you paid me. But even I know that they have camera's all over their car's 😂
