Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. The Matt vs the Penske truck video (11:00). Both are at fault. Mat did not maintain his lane and the truck switched lanes with No signal, Also, The truck Driver failed to check his mirrors before moving over. Toll plazas are a very dangerous place for CMVs and other long vehicles/trailers. Small car drivers need to watch closely to make sure that other drivers can see you before over taking them or wait until after going though the tolls or after entering the toll section of the highway. Remember if you can't see the Mirrors they can NOT see YOU or KNOW that you are THERE.

@@Gunfox61 Tesla was a bit ahead of the box van, and not in box van's blind spot. If that driver were paying attention around himself, he might have noticed Tesla and had opportunity to avoid. It's Tesla cult culture in action: "I was taking a nap while I had the broken beta software enabled, therefore everybody else is to blame if my reckless driving causes an accident!"
I've laid into a Tesla guy for engaging in extreme panic-braking during a traffic stop that almost resulted in a huge pileup behind him. Tesla boy's reply was basically "But I wasn't paying attention at all and the poorly programmed automatic brake did it!". Now most normal people consider that a confession rather than a defense, but apparently a lot of Tesla drivers think it's okay to not pay attention and come to a standstill on a motorway with 2 cars lengths of space left in front of you.
If I'd done the same it would've been an accident: I stopped 40-50 cm from his bumper and the guy behind me stopped like 30 cm away from my bumper, car behind him had 1 meter left. If I'd stopped the Tesla way, it would've been a 4+ car crash. In front of the Tesla was no stopped traffic, people slowed to roughly 30, then kept moving and soon picked up speed.
Well, after that Tesla stunt it definately was a traffic jam at a standstill....

Are amber lights not a warning that the light is about to turn red (at ANY moment) & mean you should stop if it's safe to do so? Shawn's wife had plenty of time & room to stop safely. The US law might allow her to decide to run the yellow & hope it doesn't turn red, but the fact there was an accident shows her decision carried risk. In most other counties amber means stop, not accelerate and hope to beat the red.

Something good to think about for individuals who are under insured, the insurance company will pay for damages up to the limit of their coverage for that individual or vehicle. So if their limit is $10,000 and the damages let’s say $30,000, they will do an investigation to find out if the person who is responsible for the damage has any assets that they can Recover as a result of being under insured. So it’s very possible that a judgment could be entered against the underinsured person and that could mean that a judgment would be attached to your home should it ever be sold. There’s actually quite a bit more to it but basically that’s how it works.

Remember, your insurance company will pay up to the limit of your policy. So if there’s $30,000 in damage for example the other person doesn’t have insurance and your coverage is only to $25,000, who do you think pays then. The good part is if the vehicle is financed, the lending institution is going to want coverage consistent with their exposure regarding the loan. So if a vehicle is paid off and has some value, it’s in your best interest to keep it properly insured, it only benefit you.

#17 - Whoa, look at Shawn's tire at 13:44. The accident didn't cause that kind of wear. Dude needs to replace his tires when it's time, and routinely get the alignment checked.
#7 - "Legally through the intersection," such a BS statement. The ONLY time it's legal to proceed through the yellow light is when you are too close to the intersection to safely stop, going too fast to safely stop, or are already in the intersection. When the light turns yellow, if you have time and space to slow down and stop, you do so, especially at these intersections where left-turning cars would be left sitting in the intersection when the light turns red. The editing in this clip seems to be a deliberate attempt to keep viewers from being able to see how long the light had been yellow before Ted's wife got to the intersection.

Seems like a common issue that drivers pay no respect to water on the road and end up crashing, because their speed is too high. Tesla are not equipped with very good rain tires anyway and waterplaning is an issue. The electronic stabilizers cannot do much to help when all wheels are without grip on the road. Get the speed down in wet conditions. That is the only thing that helps.

Nearly all those Teslas are new. People don't think of maintainance. Here in the Netherlands standards are stricter, but with my new BYD I'm free from the annual inspection for the first 7 years.
If I paid as little attention as most Tesla drivers seem to do around here, it could easily be that in 4-5 years I'm driving around on entirely bald tyres wondering why I keep slipping all over the place. 😆
I do drive summer tyres exclusively though both in the past and now. It's ussually 1-3 days a year that I drive in conditions where summer tyres won't perform to specifications, and that's not worth € 600-1000 a year every year for 2 tyre-swaps and storage fees.
Just got to keep in mind not to go as quickly, have way less centrifugal forces on the car and expect each braking takes significantly longer. 19 years of driving now, only lost traction twice. Once on solid ice (rare around here) once because some idiot boomer had put a compacted snow mound in the road that stopped one of my wheels dead.

Glen seemed to be the only person who did not see the truck making the turn. It seemed to me that the truck driver just hit the intersection as it turned red.
Lots of people do not seem to know to slow down for standing water.
The number of collisions recorded makes me wonder if people just suddenly forgot how to drive or if they are just distracted by their phones.
Also notice that several of these could have been avoided if the Tesla driver would not have been as aggressive, not that they are at fault, but they could have avoided the crash by yielding in some of the videos.

Ashish and everybody else driving a car should be aware that all-wheel drive/4wd does not matter when it comes to hydroplaning or braking.
Hydroplaning means your tires are no longer in direct contact with the road surface, the tires are just surfing on top of the water. When that happens the driver is no longer in control of the vehicle.
The only thing that counter acts hydroplaning is low enough speed to allow your tires the necessary time to displace enough water. The more worn your tires are the slower you need to go in water.

Do all Teslas ship with the worst tires for rain and hydro-planning? First thing I would do is upgrade the tires to something with a better mud/snow rating and real traction.

Many reasons, Speed one, tyre conditions as in are they original and good quality, have they been replaced with cheap Chinese ditch finders like land sales and other mad names, the width of these tyres is also an issue as it takes it longer to disperse the water out from the threads.....
These very widevtyres you see on the SUVs mostly like BMW X5 as an example these can work against you and the 19s and over can hamper actually handli g....
If you look at what police vehicle use they don't fit these wide tyres for a reason....

Looking at the state of Shawn's tire (13:44) it's no wonder cars hydro-plane. In the UK that tire would be totally illegal.

@@rosemaryroscrow2506 Trust me, they are here in the U.S. also. Tesla probably equips their cars with those crappy low rolling resistance tires to stretch range. Also, I believe Teslas are know tire eaters because of their weight.

#9 It sound like the airbags failed to do their proper function since he was hit from the side as well. I personally would have took that up to Tesla because what if it has failed on other people and let them die!

Maybe file a complaint with the NTSB. Maybe then Tesla would pay attention. They're already fielding reports of the FSD feature being brain dead at times and causing crashes instead of avoiding them.

Try the 29 million one where a trucker crashed a model X - flipped and oil spilled everywhere causing 190 cars totaled and environmental cleanup added another 5 million.
