Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

Thanks for featuring my video 😊 I was there again yesterday and the hazard is still standing. I'll send them this video.
we want an interview with Michael :)
Do you guys have plans to make anything usable with e-bikes, like my Onyx RCR?

"Tesla's are made like a tank"
If you mean that even a scratch costs $15k to repair, you've got a point.
yeah, ever heard of crumple zones? thats why teslas are one of the safest cars i the world. any collision does heavy damage to the exterior, but this helps in absorbing the energy so nothing is directed at the passengers so they don't die
They are safe vehicles apart from the battery but insurance premiums will be more and more since they are expensive to repair and total loss more often.

@@vihaanveerdewangan6 every car has a crumple zone, very few cars (relatively) cost that much to repair minor damage

In Kuljinder’s clip, the driver turning was at fault. They should’ve yielded to Kuljinder, but at the same time, the other driver’s light had turned red, so they ultimately should not have moved.
He's allowed to enter the intersection during green and finish his maneuver when clear. He just had to wait for the submitter to pass the junction.
Precisely
I think that the turning vehicle is almost always at fault when they have a collision - unless they have right of way (like a green turn arrow).
You can see int the collision footage that the Turning was red Kujiander was yellow. Pretty simple. Dont Left turn on red.
Agreed
Kuljinder safely entered the intersection going straight on a yellow. Turning traffic yields so it is the other person's fault.
All the lights were red at the time of collision the turning car has no excuse
Agreed.
Yep yellow lights in slippery conditions are just for that reason. Person turning left is 100% at fault. That sucks for their insurance rates which may double depending on driving history.
yoooo theres legit 5 teslas in the first clip lol 0:00

It’s the Bay Area. Tesla’s are the default car now.

Kijinder's clip?
Yeah, it's the turning vehicle's fault - they're the one who committed a traffic violation, and who violated right of way - and I'm honestly surprised and annoyed that the insurance companies are taking so long on it.
Insurance companies always like to blame the other party so they do not have to pay out.
It is also the reason why there are so many lawyers and the court dockets are so full.
To be fair their customer reported Kijinder at fault, while Kijinder reported their client at fault. The insurance company has an obligation to investigate and determine the facts.
This is Jacob! Thanks for featuring my submission! It’s been 4 months since the accident and my car is still running strong 💪🏻. If anyone has a question for me, feel free to ask.

Kuljinder did nothing wrong. He's allowed to enter on yellow if the other option is dangerous braking.
Yep, Yellow, the other light is always Red.
@@jameswilson5165that the other light is red may not be accurate. The person making a left turn is leaving their lane of travel and crossing a solid imaginary line that separates two opposing lanes of travel. Which means that the vehicle making the turn across traffic is libel for damaging the other vehicle. Unless the other vehicle went thru a red light. Which it did not.
I believe that turn lane was a yield on green but they would have been given the yellow the same time the OP got the yellow. The rule of thumb is the right away is a straight through traffic and the turning traffic yields to them. If they're in intersection they have control of that intersection. One traffic light turns red they can make the maneuver after the road it's clear and safe to do so
Its 50/50 responsibility on a yellow light. Approaching an intersection requires you to lower your speed enough to be prepared for signal changes.
@@rayRay-pw6gz Sorry, that's still not clicking in my brain. How can the light be anything but red if the other light is yellow?
#13 - (2:19) - I was expecting minor damage when the video stated the truck was "clipped" ... this was not the case. Jacob hit the truck. 😄

Tesla need Hive-Mode so they can communicate with within 50ft radius to warn and never collide with each other.
Tesla slows to avoiding hitting Tesla causing Tesla to change lanes to be hit by a Tesla which hits the Tesla 🤯
If the red Tesla had been on AP likely it would have stopped in time and not making this type of maneuver, at worst rear end the other car.
All of which is picked up by the Teslacams.
@@Trust_but_VerifyI agree.
FSD in the first Tesla initiated the crash, it decided to hard brake at the last second and that caused the red Model 3 to switch lanes last second. Still the red Model 3 is at fault for switching lanes but FSD did no favors for the fellow Tesla drivers here.
@@practicalguy973 It was not the last second. It was at the appropriate time. The lag was in the Tesla that followed.
The 'built like tanks' line had me laughing.
I recall being in an M4 Sherman tank when I was fighting in WWII and we jumped a curb... $11, 000 dollars repair bill that took 3 and 1/2 months.
No shit. I assumed, you know, a tank was built like a tank and it'd just roll right over the curbs. I suppose they do have solid metal tracks though which are not necessarily going to conform going over a curb.

If you too have the vertical streaking (5:58)in your dashcam at night, schedule a service appointment. I got my entire windshield replaced due to manufacturing defects in the old windscreen. It's the heating lines that cause the streaks. Mine was replaced with an HW4 model which removes the issue completely giving me clear video at night despite bright lights being present
That's actually insane. They gave you HW4 for free?
@@josephjoestar515 just the HW4 windscreen. I have a 2022 M3
@@Valentijnzz Ohh, that makes sense. How is it different?
@@josephjoestar515 instead of 6/7 horizontal heating lines, my new windscreen has 2/3 vertical ones, much further apart
Mine had the streaking like that, but not heating lines - for some years that area isn't sealed and there aren't dedicated heating elements for it.
All it needed was popping a trim piece and wiping off the grime that had slipped in there over time - like a 15 minute job for the service center.

Thank you for featuring my clips (red model Y in first clip). Now for Kuljinder’s case, if Canada has the same traffic law as in California, it should be the other driver’s fault. Kuljinder went into the intersection while it was yellow, which is entirely legal in California. (Hope I get the dashcam🙏) BTW, my car was fixed for $15k.
If the Tesla behind you were on fsd, it would’ve stopped in time and there would be no accident. Most people try to switch lanes and then bump into other cars instead of breaking hard and try to stop. The driver’s reaction was a bit slow too, which didn’t help.
10:15 people who are turning left have to yield to oncoming traffic, the only exception is if the turn is protected by a green arrow, which it clearly wasn't, since the submitter had the green light at first.
Not only that but in the rearcam footage you can see the light is clearly Red for turning.
Watching the clip that Panos posted is terrifying. As i own the exact same Mazda 3 sedan, I'm also very surprised how well the mazda handled that crash after bring t-boned by the Ford pickup.
10:01 Turning driver is usually at fault, and that remains true in this situation. Light was still yellow
I hate when they ask “who’s at fault?” If people would read the rules of the road book, there wouldn’t be any questions as to who’s at fault.
Long story short, the light was yellow. Cam driver still has right of way!
Thanks for having me! @1:25
Thanks for including my story on here at 3:16. Quick update: Other driver gave her license and insurance policy number which later turned out to be an expired policy and for a different car even, Tesla Insurance concluded that the other driver did not have any valid insurance and that they were at fault according to the police report. It took about 6 weeks at Tesla Collision and about $15.5k in repairs to bring back my car. Currently trying to pursue diminished value but it's tough since the other driver was uninsured and I had to go through my own collision coverage and pay a $500 deductible. While waiting for my car to get fixed, Tesla Insurance put me up in a Model Y rental through Hertz (sadly wasn't covered for the entire time as the repairs exceeded 30 days)
Did the police cross-reference other driver's license number or VIN to determine the correct current insurance policy? Or did the officer cite the driver for driving w/o insurance?
8:43 Josh did not stop behind the white line at the stop sign. He only paused when he did "stop" and started again. He only stopped when he saw the car. If he had stopped behind the white line and looked both ways the accident would have been avoided. It's what we use to call a Coca-Cola stop - the pause that refreshes.
I think it's what is now simply called a 'stop'. I live on a corner in Toronto that has a giant athletic dome built and the 'California Stop' situation got so bad that police set up shop there for several weekends in a row and issued tons of tickets. Funny thing is, it changed nothing and police gave up. The same way they did with hit & runs.
Hello! I'm Josh! I will admit that i've had a bad habit of doing rolling stops. In this situation, i couldn't see to my left as there was a house blocking my view so i rolled up a bit to see. That's when the lady from the right hit me. I wonder though. Looking at the side-repeater camera, Had I stopped behind the line, i think she'll still hit me, and it would have been a head-on collision. Again, i know it's the law to stop behind the line and I admit to that mistake. (surprisingly the Cadillacs insurance found them 100% at-fault)
As someone who owns a Fiat 500c Abarth (I absolutely love it still). I can confirm that they very much do not like alot of water. I’ve been kicked sideways twice on days that were raining, only moderately at best, and it’s terrifying. damn, small world!
I don't usually have the notification bell set for a channel, but for Wham Baam it's a must.
Story 10 she was a delivery driver. Meaning speed was more important than safety. She tried to squeeze in between two cars just has the third one made the lane change.
And she has a big clunky suv that makes it hard to zip through for deliveries.
1:48 I hope the occupants in the Mazda are ok, because the damage that pickup truck did was insane.
For the Kuljinder clip: the other driver will be at fault. Straight through traffic has the right of way, not traffic turning across lanes. It's on the turning driver to make sure the way is clear, which in this case, it wasn't.
I stopped @9:45 because it looks so familiar area and here when I zoomed in the street sign it is familiar because it’s a neighbourhood within the lower mainland of Vancouver, BC and I live right outside of Vancouver. I always find it so cool when you see an accident where you know whereabouts it took place.
9:35 Kuljinder is in the right. Both cars had 'yellow,' which is actually orange, but the car turning left needs to yield to oncoming traffic no matter what.
Video 3 at 9:39 - The video is from Vancouver BC, where we have just one insurance provider - the government's ICBC. So, it shouldn't take much time to sort the matter out. This arrangement also prevents the usual wrangling between insurance companies that we see in places that have private insurance.
Congrats on subscriber count!!! Almost at 1 mln subscribers :O
1:47 this clip is freaking insane what bad luck that car has
It’s amazing how I can drive for 35 years, have 5 million miles of driving and never been in an accident 🤔. I think if you focus on driving and is good about predicting what people might do you can avoid a lot.
honestly its getting harder and harder recently. i haven't had any accidents either but all these new cars with 3-4 seconds of 0-60 instant torque, all the new blinding headlights at night, driving tests getting easier and easier in the US, sometimes licenses just get handed out, and people with nothing to lose driving around, i'm afraid there have been quite a few close calls.
hell, EVERY SINGLE parking exit is now a hazard since people just go out without looking, every single right turn is now a hazard since people speed through it without checking left for vehicles coming straight, people can't even stay in their lanes, sometimes i've even gotten brake checked for no reason other them perceiving me to be following close when i'm quite far in reality(i think perhaps the new rear view cameras with distorted lenses play a part in this). people don't use turn signals, brake super late because their tesla allows them to do so, i'm driving a particularly low old car(toyota celica GTS) so i can rarely ever see beyond the car in front, this makes judgement difficult sometimes and i just start braking early against what i see and instead rely on my instincts.
people even speed and tailgate you in PARKING LOTS. i'm talking about california in particular. driving has not been fun at all in the city, and honestly i've started feeling a little bit of anxiety doing it even though i feel completely relaxed when cutting through touges and backroads. hell, i even do some drifting on a junker 350z for fun and compared to that my heart rate is higher when i'm just driving on the main roads normally or around a mall's parking lot lol
also there's a new trend nowadays, search "swim team" in youtube. youngsters like to take their cars around and "swim" i.e. cut through small gaps in traffic in the freeway. all for dumb clout. it's getting more and more popular in NY and CA. you see a lot of bmws doing this. there is no accountability, daddy's money. main roads are never safe anymore.
if i was less experienced at this point in time i feel like the chance of an accident would be sky high just from the way people drive.
It's really easy to screw up with only a moments worth of inattention one deer, bouncing out from some trees, and you've got a dead deer and a very very damaged car. One fractional drift from one lane into the adjacent lane, and you've hidden another car, and then bouncing down a freeway, screaming in terror. Cherish those 35 years, but know that complacency is the enemy.
The BMW drift was EPIC THAT BMW STUNT DRIVER DESERVES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE PROBABLY THE BEST BMW STUNT DRIVER EVER HE PROBABLY DOES THOSE DRIFTS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
He probably also pressed and held down the traction control button for the five seconds needed for the car to turn off all oversteer safety systems, to make a log somewhere in the car computer "DSC manually disabled by driver" and for a warning which means "you are on your own now" to appear on the dashboard. That way: if you are in a crash then BMW accepts no liability and has the logs to show you made a conscious decision to screw up
8:15 is just a normal day of being a BMW driver
#5 - Those two Beemer drivers remind me of the father-son duo who got involved in a bad accident while racing each other... #3 - It doesn't matter why Kuljinder decided to proceed through the light; what matters is that he had the right of way while the other driver made an unprotected turn into oncoming traffic, making it *their* fault.
#3 Kujinder was in the right. If the light is yellow, he has the right to go through while the car turning has to yield. So the driver turning is in the wrong.
I'm curious what happened after the trash can went into the truck. Do they dig it out or just call to get them a replacement? Or perhaps they pretend everything is normal and leave it on the homeowner?
Well Derek’s clip proves it’s perfectly normal behavior for BMW owners…… they never used a turn signal. 😂
It's an optional extra; we can get one from the dealer, but we have to go on a special "turn signals -what they are and how to use them course "
First accident happened in NB 101 in Redwood City. It caused a horrible delay.
In Kuljinder's clip, I believe it was 50/50. Kuljinder, even though stopping may have been dangerous in the conditions, still made a dangerous decision to gun it through the yellow instead of slowing down. On the other hand, the turning driver was required to yield to oncoming traffic, as their light was potentially red. Therefore, the fault should be split 50/50.
That was a little more than a "clip", Jacob. 🤣
In Kuljinder’s case, I think they’ll rule in favor of Kuljinder. The light was still yellow as he passed through. The other driver just assumed he would stop and went for it. Never assume anything, especially when driving.
Awesome video keep up the good work job
10:02 Kuljinder
The turning driver was in the wrong, despite Kuljunder’s light being yellow he still had the right of way, here in Australia at least, the turning car can turn when it’s safe to do so, but clearly it wasn’t safe, and Kuljinder had the right idea of not stopping due to the wet conditions to avoid a rear end collision…but I somehow kinda suspect they’ll try to push the blame back to Kuljinder given the distance between when the light turned yellow and the painted line. 🤷🏻♀️
Please do an interview (with some funny clips) about the teslabox cloud thing I’d be fun to know more and I’d definitely watch
The F250 in the second clip was just looking for something cheaper to hit.
Definitely want more info on the Teslabox! We have a couple Teslas and would use this.
Depending on where he lives most places, consider the person to taking the left turn to be at fault
9:42 there's no way the red car's light turned green while Kuljindsr's light was still yellow, the other dude definitely ran the red light
The problems with all the left turn traffic yields are due to no designated left turn lanes in lots of places in Canada. This was crazy when I first visited Canada and saw huge traffic piled up behind just to wait for one vehicle to turn left and that vehicle definitely felt the pressure to turn left on a yellow.
Not sure what the rules are there, but here in Aus, if you're in the intersection it's safer to wait for the red on an unprotected turn and make damn well sure the traffic in the other lanes has stopped before completing the right turn to exit the intersection. Forcing it on a right is asking to get in an accident
With Kuljinder’s submission, the light was still yellow as he entered the intersection so the other driver was at fault.
Even if the light had turned red just before he entered the intersection, the other driver would have been cited for failure to yield, while Kuljinder would have been cited for running a red light.
I would li to know more about the Teslabox. That would be a great feature to have.
Love your videos
5:15 I believe that's a Z3 Roadster - I used to have one. It was 19 years and 11 months old, when a little old lady pulled out of a side street and totaled it. It was a fun little car. Had a 3rd gear that would take you to 95 mph if you needed the speed. Those big wide Michelin tires made breaking around turns optional, not necessary. :-)
10:08 You can see the other driver having a red light in the rear-view camera I think, so the other driver would be at fault in my opinion

2:50 this story is freaking bonkers they sure have a bright future
At Clip 3, I am very sure that the submitter will not be found at fault, and the other driver will.
What I've learned watching your videos and studying each crash carefully, i've concluded that most of these people could've avoided and also most dont have the driving manuever/ skills to escape a situation. They just freeze and it's sad really.
Watching the clip that Panos posted is terrifying. As I own the exact same Mazda 3 sedan, I'm also very surprised by how well the Mazda handled that crash after being T-boned by the Ford pickup.
Clip 3 - The driver turning was clearly at fault. I have seen so many of these type of clips and regularly see that the turning driver was cited for failure to yield when the straight ahead driver had an amber light.
This is amazing
I don’t think Kuljinder was responsible for the collision at all. It wasn’t guaranteed that they would stop safely at the light and they entered the intersection while it was still yellow. If the other driver was already in the intersection, they should have yielded to Kuljinder before proceeding, and if they weren’t in the intersection, they would have had to run the red light to turn.

What do people do when they make "a copy" of their Tesla video? Do they use phone to film the playback then send it via email or text (does it allow big files?) to the crash recipient?
The other driver in Kuljinder's clip is 100% liable for the damages for failing to yield to oncoming traffic while making an unprotected left turn. Both drivers entered the intersection at about the same time, but only Kuljinder had the right of way. Therefore the other driver must yield to traffic, failed to do so, and caused a crash, making them at fault.

I love how there's two Chicago clips exemplifying the two types of assholes in Chicago: The "How come you didn't see me?" driver who thinks they're the center of the world (commonly found on places like lake st and upper wacker). And the blind rage driver who thinks they recognize this specific car from 4 weeks ago and hasn't let it go (commonly found on the south, west, and north edges of the city limits).
hey you guys finally got a star wars stormtrooper vrs door moment
Here commenting for the Tesla box interview.
Kuljinder's case is pending on what province he's from. I would guess due to the weather conditions they will deem he's not at fault. Typically the yellow light means approaching traffic must stop UNLESS its unsafe to due so. He won't be found at fault is my guess.
The result for kuljinder, It is the fault of the one that was turning since it was still yellow and it still takes a little while for it to be green, the vehicle probably ended up with 8k or 12k damage
The one with the bullying jeep is one that the cops should look into since he has the plate number. It should also be a new law for cops to give out big tickets for acting like that and break checking in general cause you never know who is going to be behind you.
I don't understand why cars do that. Sometimes when cycling around a UK city cars, try and do that because they are upset that I held them up for a small fraction of a second. it is bullying and it comes with the driver having a sense of entitlement. Which is ironic given the Tesla cost more
Michael should sue the sign! It seems to have it out for moderately tall people!! 😮
10:12 It is always the turning cars’ fault if the light is green or yellow, it is up to the turning car to make sure that the road is clear to turn.
I have had to turn out of the intersection on red after waiting for someone to clear after running the yellow and having to wait for an oncoming car to stop when it seemed like they were going to run the light.
3 damaged Teslas in first clip? That’s $7million in damages. Tesla math
