- Pickup driver rolls coal on a Tesla Model X and the Tesla owner decides to follow the pickup driver into a gas station where the Tesla owner confronts the coal roller.

Texas law allows individuals to have pistols inside the vehicle without the need for a concealed carry license. 1 in 20 native Texans have a pistol in the glove box or between the seats.

Clearly, the truck driver was compensating for something.
Kurt didn't "see that the truck had pulled into a gas station so decided to follow him." Kurt got angry and followed him as soon as he moved to the right lane to turn right. He could have been going anywhere. Kurt got angry and decided to follow the guy for some payback. He should think himself lucky that the guy was all talk and no one was injured that day.

Yup! I can verify that 100% in AZ that motorists do this to bicyclists. I no longer ride road bikes because of how bad drivers are on the roads. Sticking to the peace and quiet of gravel grinding and MTBing. No ahole AZ drivers to deal with and the scenery is so much better.

Unfortunately, unless you are in confrontational situations as a day job - typically law enforcement / door security etc. people react to confrontation usually with confrontation. The adrenalin starts flowing and reason goes straight out the window. Along with a plastic bottle of water - whatever that was about. In the video, the one who really gets annoyed is the coal roller when he is passed by the Tesla, typically the one who exits the vehicle first is the aggressor / escalator. At least no one here was stupid enough to start throwing punches because with them both hopped up on adrenalin they would be at it until next Tuesday.

Yeah, if someone road rages near you, you're best to just let them go. Escalating the situation will not help. Being stubborn and using your car to block someone is a bad move. Just let the rage head go on his way. Or take down the plate number and make a police report. My priority is to get to my destination safely. I can't control anyone else, so I don't try to "get even" on the road.

I agree... Speaking from personal experience I once encountered a "Kurt" in a Tesla who yelled an obscene gesture as I crossed the street.. I told him he couldn't drive and that's the only reason he has a Tesla and he got out the car and became confrontational... I was about to lay him out like a carpet when I suddenly remembered he has tesla cam. So I called his bluff and told him if I layed him out he would run to the police and say I assaulted him as a racist crime and press charges on me and my boys.
I begged for him to swing on me so his cameras see who the real aggressor is...
He apologized for insulting me and went about his day. Tesla owners are just instigators thanks to those cameras.

"Never back down from a bully" is a solid principle. Following a driver who violated the law closely enough to get a record of the license plate to file a report is all fine and good, too (although "operating a smoking vehicle" isn't really meant to apply to giving it enough fuel to roll coal, it's meant to apply to operating a vehicle in such bad repair that it smokes whether you want it to or not). Following a guy who rolled coal on you into a parking lot is arguably stalking, and getting out of your car to confront him is plainly stupid. Gesturing close to his face and flipping him off (which seemed to happen here) is clearly an attempt to provoke an assault. So, everything after noting the license plate was bad form, and makes other Tesla drivers look bad by association.
Trying to start a fight with a posturing idiot who feels the need to drive a lifted pickup to make himself feel manly is a really stupid idea. He's obviously insecure and defensive about his masculinity (hence the exaggerated nature of his vehicle), so putting him in a "put up or shut up" defensive position like that is likely to result in irrational behavior (as seen in his pursuit of the Tesla driver after the confrontation and flailing about with the bottled water). Arguing with an unstable idiot is like having a pissing contest with a live wire: it's pointless and unlikely to end well.
That law applies to rolling coal too. To put out that much smoke means he defeated the emissions control devices in the truck. That is also illegal in some states.
