Your feedback is most welcome, appreciated and needed. This video was long due. And yes, maybe I took a slightly controversial approach but hopefully it got your attention and in the end it helped you.

That's a great closing point to take away - it matters how well you know your camera. Once you become very familiar with your own equipment, you can understand how to get the best performance from it, or, you can identify areas where it's not quite the right setup for you and work out where you need to upgrade parts of it. Gear most certainly does matter, but any choice you make about what gear to use should be considered based on what you really need, not just because something is new and shiny.....

100%! I'm so glad you understand the point i'm trying to make with this video. Yes the title plays with the common saying that gear doesn't actually matter but how much you know your gear does matter a lot.
But hey, those who look for the shiny new gear watch my reviews so... that matters too! 😆😆😆

I hadn’t thought about the aperture being affected by a crop sensor. It’s the first time I’ve heard anyone say it.

Yeah I know. Even when you buy a lens, the product description only mentions the focal length equivalence. And often you hear people praising the low-light capability of full-frame but without realising that it's often simply physics: the crop sensor lets in only a fraction of the light. On APS-C this is not much of a problem in most situations but it's pretty bad with Micro 4/3 because then the factor is 2x. And of course it affects the depth of field, the bokeh, etc.
I think we have grown a bit lazy because technology "just works" these days but I still find interesting to learn how. And as a professional photographer I must know how it affects my end result ☺️

i didn't realise you are also using 35mm eq mostly. over the last year or so i kinda moved away from my 50 and use my 35 a lot more (on full frame). aren't we a bunch of hipsters ;)

      We most definitely are! 😂
I actually switch between 35 and 50 (eq) all the time, depending on the mood. In Istanbul I mostly used the 50 even if I was getting close to the people there... So I got even closer!
The 35 helps me include the architecture in the frame... But the Fuji ones are so small I bring then both with me ☺️
