I haven’t had the will to live much of this year. I lost my job, almost had to live in my car, dealt with severe depression despite spending the past 4 years doing well in a dream industry and doing well in grad school. My whole life was crushed. So I wanna say thanks Johnny. You’re one of the few I always am excited to watch. And while the videos may only be 8-20 minutes long, they really help. Thanks for all the hard work
In defense of their alternate timeline decision. The lore set up in botw would have given them minimal room to do a dynasty warriors style story and locked them off from a lot of iconic botw stuff without just deciding to screw canon anyway. The canon plot had a lot of wandering around hyrule trying and failing to unlock Zelda’s sealing power with some monsters mixed in until ganon shows up and most of the cast dies pretty quickly after. Sticking strictly to canon would have limited what they could have done. The roster would have been smaller for one (fan favorite Sidon in particular would have been limited to strictly non-story content), they couldn't use towers as they weren't found until 100 years later, and even the sheikah slate runes wouldn't have been available as they weren't figured out until after Link went asleep. Prequel stories are hard to do at the best of times and BotW, memories and all, just had a more laid back energy to it and working a canon prequel out of the high energy dynasty warriors structure wouldn't have been impossible just difficult. So personally I was a bit relieved they just went AU fanfic with it, though not to say they used their freedom to its fullest potential.
I can agree with your statement, mainly because unlike some LoZ fans, I haven't forgotten that there are multpile timelines, sure BotW tried to bring them together, but there were still multiple timelines nonetheless. Isn't there a world thats mostly water and very little land at all in one of the timelines?
thanks Johnny, hope you have a good new year's and (hopefully) 2021. you're an inspiration to me and many others out there, and I can't wait to see what you do next
Honestly I Found Age of calamity's best moments to be the little details and character interactions Kill 1000 monsters as Mipha, Get complemented on your Skills by your partner and vice versa Wondering how the people of Rito village compete in the dark, Gather some glw in the dark materials and have revali enjoy the prospect of your labors. before Sooga drops in and attacks the princess, mipha and daruk are talking about getting mipha some training and who the warrior who wields the master sword is, and mipha looks at link, Which daruk notices and smiles at. Honestly I'd pay 100 bucks for more of this adorable stuff.
2021 wont get better overnight, but heres to a hopefully much better year. It's always a pleasure watching your videos John as it always provides a brief escape from reality. Keep up the fantastic work
I thought the Sidon/Mipha bits were really subtle and heartwarming (easily the best interactions between Past and alt Future Champions) There's several instances of Sidon putting up a brave smile when it's obvious to us he's holding back some bittersweet tears. Mipha's "I know I will see you again someday" is easily the most powerful note. It's technically true but only half so. She will see her little brother grow up but the future Sidon will only have his precious memories of both Mipha's to hold close. :(
@@brycebitetti1402 games like this really make me wish Nintendo would announce a new and improved Switch model soon given all the games that are struggling to run at 720p which is the bare minimum for HD.

(I bought all 3 Hyrule Warrior versions too, just don't have the time to do only a few maps in a day now compared to getting 5-10 missions done in the time 1 map would take in the new one) Compared to what else the switch currently has coming out $60 was well worth it. Post main story working to unlock the secret characters is great too. Do wish we got more costumes for everyone else though.
Let’s see how many potential Round 2 Videos we are looking at here. Confirmed: Hyrule Warriors 1 Kingdom Hearts 3 Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (eventually since the dlc is still being made I believe) Possible candidates: Super Mario Maker 2
Wow, I know many people are aware of Johnny’s weight loss endeavours and his current results on screen with how much better he looks but....DAMM! Johnny has really looks great with how his weight loss is going!
One thing that people are forgetting about halo reach is that we never knew much about what happened on reach except what we were told. (unless you read the books, but the game retconed them anyways). So bungie had more creative freedom. In breath of the wild, the main story is about link recovering his lost identity by revisiting his past and avenging his dead friends by freeing the Divine beasts and destroying Ganon. We are told a great deal about hyrule before and during the calamity, through memory, hearsay, or what we are shown through the environment, we are even shown exactly how link is incapacitated before BoTW, realistically there isn’t a lot of room to make a game (a warriors style game no less) based solely off of those events. People are calling this story a cop out but I think Nintendo put more thought into this game than people realize.
Happy New Year, Johnny! Thank you for years of wonderful videos, and thank you in particular for helping make 2020 better for me with all the great content to look forward to.

I was sold on the idea that it was a prequel, but it's not really. But because it zelda already has a fractured time line it can still impact BOTW2. It all depends on when the champions came back from that timeline. (Watching Sidon saying goodbye to his sister was heart breaking)
Kinda why I’m more excited for P5 Strikers is how different it is from a typical Mosou game, really only the combat is like one, everything else feels like a proper Persona game which is really great

I hope you have a happy new year, and thank you for being there for us in this age of calamity.
I've never played Hyrule Warriors. Like Johnny, I saw this game as a prequel, until the champion's were saved from their grim fates (being an alternate continuity). I use Link a lot and switch it up as I go at times. There was different character variety and some you two secret characters you can unlock through quests.
As always, show starts at 1:07. My first experince with the warriors games, is with the gundam series. So two of my favorite things under that style of gameplay is something I often think about because of the price tag. The Hyrule Warriors titles are more expensive than it's peers for no seemingly fucking good reason where I could buy Pirate Warriors (dynasty warriors but one piece) for half the price on steam.

Thanks for all the hard work
A wonderful video to end this...abomination of a year.
A happy and healthy New Year’s to you and yours, Johnny!
I love how powerful Link feels in this game. Straight up Luke Skywalker from Mandalorian season 2 vibes
I legit said "YAY" when I saw this
Clicked faster than anything in my life
So did i

Forget covid-19 I think Johnny has come down with jungle fever.
Happy New Years everyone! :D
Right back at you dude.
thanks Johnny, hope you have a good new year's and (hopefully) 2021. you're an inspiration to me and many others out there, and I can't wait to see what you do next
My last video of 2020 and first of 2021. Happy new year Johnny.
4:03 you forget to mention his amnesia lol
I was just in the middle of watching your Kingdom Hearts marathon and this showed up!
Somehow I believe you
@@miguelcastillo3723 "the arguments you have presented seem believable"
@@miguelcastillo3723 don't you mean ok I _somehow_ believe you
It's good to see that someone besides me realizes just how hot Urbosa is. Johnny, you are truly a man of culture.👍
Everybody knows Urbosa is BADD. (I just hate her nose)
@@esmooth919 i hate YOUR nose
I'm pretty sure it's more than just you and Johnny... in fact yeah it's waaay more than just you and Johnny.
A fantastic way to end this Calamity of a Year.
Thank You Johnny!
Johnny you are the man thanks for the great videos I look forward to your videos more than anyone else have a great 2021 my man
I have not seen game assets reused so hard since Chain of Memories.
REChain.
Original Chain of Memories was 100% new assets. Well other than voices
Considering the game is set in the same universe, it makes sense
Honestly I Found Age of calamity's best moments to be the little details and character interactions
Kill 1000 monsters as Mipha, Get complemented on your Skills by your partner and vice versa
Wondering how the people of Rito village compete in the dark, Gather some glw in the dark materials and have revali enjoy the prospect of your labors.
before Sooga drops in and attacks the princess, mipha and daruk are talking about getting mipha some training and who the warrior who wields the master sword is, and mipha looks at link, Which daruk notices and smiles at.
Honestly I'd pay 100 bucks for more of this adorable stuff.
What better way to end a Johnny VS video of 2020 is a prequel to Breath of the Wild.
2021 wont get better overnight, but heres to a hopefully much better year. It's always a pleasure watching your videos John as it always provides a brief escape from reality. Keep up the fantastic work
"is this [Lucky Ladle] my reward for preordering this game?"
Hey, if you've seen the 12th doctor, you can do a lot with a spoon!
Hope you and your fam have a wonderful time ushering in the new year, Johnny!! SGB squad for life!
Nintendo: "Hey, you wanna see me split the Zelda timeline? Wanna see me do it again?
Starting off with a bang huh? Get the Chocobos saddled, and your Mega-Potions ready folks!
Hows the grass in this game? This is importaint
Still able to be cut. Still makes the framerate shit the bed.
@@brycebitetti1402 games like this really make me wish Nintendo would announce a new and improved Switch model soon given all the games that are struggling to run at 720p which is the bare minimum for HD.
It's cuttable in main story missions, in side missions ive noticed that it is impossible to do so.
Amazing. Use the fire rod on it.
I‘d say pretty dank.
I mained Mipha, as she’s the ONLY character that can heal without using apples; even got her to Level 98 before I completed the game.
She rips through Weakness Gauges like no one’s business with stacked Aerial Attack runes and her Geyser ability. (It also cheeses out Taluses.)
...but yeah, Impa is pretty busted. I would’ve used her more if I didn’t find Terrako so fun.
Mainly for the endslate/ramble, but I hope Johnny knows that these vids were always a treat to get the notification throughout the year and helped soften the blow of... you know. Thanks man. Much love, happy new year.
I really liked it a ton. Especially not having every lvl be 30+ minutes of constantly retaking keeps. (I bought all 3 Hyrule Warrior versions too, just don't have the time to do only a few maps in a day now compared to getting 5-10 missions done in the time 1 map would take in the new one)
Compared to what else the switch currently has coming out $60 was well worth it. Post main story working to unlock the secret characters is great too. Do wish we got more costumes for everyone else though.
This game is the definition of a pool a mile wide and an inch deep bruh.
Pretty sure that can be said about nearly every warriors game. But their still fun regardless.
@@thelonemask some WAY more than others though...
Let’s see how many potential Round 2 Videos we are looking at here.
Confirmed:
Hyrule Warriors 1
Kingdom Hearts 3
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (eventually since the dlc is still being made I believe)
Possible candidates:
Super Mario Maker 2
Guardians: we have a very deadly laser shot, nothing can beat it.
Divine beasts: ahem gentlemen?
If I had to sum up 2020, I'd like to remind everyone that literally like 3 days after 2020 started World War III almost happened
Wow, I know many people are aware of Johnny’s weight loss endeavours and his current results on screen with how much better he looks but....DAMM! Johnny has really looks great with how his weight loss is going!
He basically actually looks the size of his avatar, nice
1:30 - Down with the bokoblins!
New Johnny vs is a great way to end 2020. Happy New Year everyone and may 2021 be better than 2020.
Before I knew the mini guardian's name was Terrako, I called it Egg Boy. XD
I still call him that.
We're in April now, 2021, is doing quite well so far, I don't mean to jinx it, but let's all hope it continues to improve.
Looking forward to watch Johnny's content in 2021!
Happy New Year, Johnny! Thank you for years of wonderful videos, and thank you in particular for helping make 2020 better for me with all the great content to look forward to.
Please keep that blade gag going john, I'm really loving those XD.
Have a happy new year Johnny, hope it gets better for all of us
14:16 *raises hands*
It does not look like the basic horde enemies even attack you.
Its kinda funny how this is probably the first video I see where there isnt someone saying the framerate drop is abysmall or downright unacceptable.
If you've played musou games for the past 20 years, you kinda know what to expect. Lol that engine is so old and unoptimized. When the switch port of doom eternal can maintain a steady framerate despite being more demanding, there's problems lol.
Because Johnny has video proof of having played mainline Dynasty Warriors games, Wii U Hyrule included. He ain't gonna lie and say that was a thing that this game suddenly did just now.
@@UltimaKeyMaster People who say that arsnt even lying though
They legit are saying its horrible how bad the Framerate drops. I legit thought for a while I was playing the game wrong or something
@@gamemaniac7170 Oh I know, I'm more talking about the sheer exaggeration of how it apparently plays worse because of it.
It kinda *helps* you most times and its at its most laggy when you annihilate a group of enemies with a special attack, which only ends up looking like a cool Matrix bullet time effect.
I haven't noticed one frame drop when I play. If it drops it's not noticeable for me. I may be lucky though.
The way you call revali an asshole was hilarious
The original new Johnny intro theme tho! Great video man, appreciate it
I was sold on the idea that it was a prequel, but it's not really.
But because it zelda already has a fractured time line it can still impact BOTW2.
It all depends on when the champions came back from that timeline.
(Watching Sidon saying goodbye to his sister was heart breaking)
Kinda why I’m more excited for P5 Strikers is how different it is from a typical Mosou game, really only the combat is like one, everything else feels like a proper Persona game which is really great
Happy New Year Mr.Somecallmejohnny. This year has been very bad (obviously), but your videos (and SGB's and Brainscratchcomms's) have helped me and probably many others during the tough times, and I am very greatful for that. Whenever I checked RUclips and saw that you uploaded a new video, I immediately clicked on it, and you didn't disappoint.
Happy New Year's Johnny. Let's hope 2021 doesn't share the same fate as 2020. Stay save and hope for the best.
Me, who’s on a trip in Arkansas: Is Johnny tracking me?!
I'm still wondering when will Johnny do some Round 2s on both Hyrule Warrior games
Did Johnny just give Terrako the Jazz treatment from fresh prince at 7:27?
lol
As always, show starts at 1:07.
My first experince with the warriors games, is with the gundam series. So two of my favorite things under that style of gameplay is something I often think about because of the price tag. The Hyrule Warriors titles are more expensive than it's peers for no seemingly fucking good reason where I could buy Pirate Warriors (dynasty warriors but one piece) for half the price on steam.
6:40 well that’s gonna (hopefully) date the video
I think this is the first time I even used the timestamp to skip spoilers in a video lol. Thank you, Johnny! ^^
Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition doesn’t just contain all the DLC from the original, it also adds in all the new content that was added in Legends.
This year has been harder, but it’s better than any other place and time over 150 years ago…
Have a great New Year's Johnny! Looking forward to 2021!
I thought this was a completionist ep for a second and got the painkillers ready
I like to wish Johnny and everybody else a Happy New Year!
Thanks for the birthday gift, John!
Always know when to drop the great reviews!
Ending 2020 with a Johnny vs. video... Awesome.
Video starts at 1:08
Great timing! I just beat this game today after getting it for Christmas! I thought it was great!
Happy New Year John! Just want to say thanks for the great content this year, definitely kept me from going insane. Really looking forward to your upcoming projects. Thanks again.
at this point all i look forward to in a johnny zelda review is what his comment of the master sword is gonna be
Happy new year, everyone.
