Yeah, I've seen the 100% ending online. It's a fine ending, albeit one that's got 'sequel-baiting' written all over it, but it's not worth the suffering OR the bragging rights that come with collecting and completing everything. Just look it up on RUclips if you're really curious.

Some stuff is a little tedious but that’s the case 100% any game, older Crash games are not exception. The gameplay is so fun that I don’t find getting the extra stuff a chore.
@Aqdas Boy
I think the hidden boxes argument is greatly exaggerated, there were a couple that I thought were obtuse but lots of them I was able to find by myself.
Sure it might have taken 3 level attempts but when 100% a game, repeating levels is to be expected.
The only time I felt the game start to drag was the N.Verted levels, some were cool but others look really ugly and didn’t do enough to justify going through the level again.
Even with that, the raw game feel is satisfying enough that playing never felt like a chore.

Pro tip: once you nab the flash back tape, you don’t have to worry about dying.
Let’s just hope Spyro will get a true 4th game.
I think it's far too late for that; Spyro got revived twice, meaning (I'm guessing) that there can't be a Spyro 4 or a follow-up to Shadow Legacy, the last Spyro game in the original series prior to the reboot.
I think it’ll happen. Would seem strange to not have his update.
Although, with different dimensions, does anyone else think that a better Crash/Spyro cross over could happen since toys for bob has done it for both.
@@TheChipmania Do you even know what a reboot means? It means a restart, there's no going back. If that was the case, we would've gotten a Spyro game with his Insomniac design YEARS ago. Does one exist post-Shadow Legacy? No, one doesn't.
@@obd9660 You do realize that reboots aren't a force of nature you can't backpedal on, right? The remake of the classic Spyro games sold well, so its entirely possible that a "Spyro 4" following up on the remakes will be made.

This game has been severely underrated. It's up there with Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for masterful modern platformers.
Very much disagree. It's one of the worst I've played, and having the audacity to call itself a numbered Crash entry actually pissed me off. Tropical Freeze was incredible though, absolutely agree.
@@SuicidalImpulse ? I thought the platforming sections were just as clever and creative as Tropical Freeze, what didn’t you like about it?
@@toddpacker4683 The art style didn't translate well into a readable environment while playing, evident by the ring they had to put under Crash/Coco because it was too easy to get lost in the enviornment. Depth perception was absolutely butchered, so you can tell the ring was a desperate bandaid instead of just fixing that. The levels also felt like they HAD to be long, over-stuffed and bloated with boxes and secrets to compare to the N. Sane Trilogy, instead of just a good Crash game in general. IAT feels like three games forcibly crammed into one because it had to compare to the length of that collection.
I really liked the voice acting, the music, and the cutscenes. Everything about playing it was abysmal though and I'm personally shocked Toys for Bob was given a second chance after this.

It's so awesome when a series comes back after such a long time and it turns out to be an amazing game that people love, retaining the charm of the past but also going for something newer
Seeing Crash run up to Cortex & hug him is so fucking wholesome
I think this is the first review that actually mentioned how bad going for 106% actually is. Good stuff!
I do hope they still use stuff from the Traveler’s Tales games like reintroducing Crunch Bandicoot in a future game.
Also Vicarious Visions was busy on the Tony Hawk 1 & 2 remakes.
Also agree with you on another Sonic game that succeeds Mania. Maybe they can reimagine zones like Splash Hill, Casino Street, Sylvania Castle, Secret Plant to be completely distinct.
With the whole "multiverse" gimmick, I could easily see them reintroducing old characters and ideas.
I find it funny that Splash Hill gives me Splatoon vibes and Cassino Street gives me Streets of Rage vibes
No more “reimagining” zones. It should be come up with all new tropes, or go home. And keep Sonic team the hell away from it. Pay the indie guys to do it again.
Who is going to buy Tony Hawk? The 5th title might as well have done the franchise in.

Not in the slightest. This isn't a remake THANK GOODNESS.
@@elin111 No one is talking about Crash as a remake. They're talking about Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Just don't let the Forces team handle that immense task. The controls, for the most part, are some of the best ever in a 3D Sonic game. If they can't get close to that or try to improve it a little, then the remakes won't be as good.
@@SpeedyBlur2000 If you ask me, for Sonic's 30th next year, I'd love a similar thing to what Mario did, bring 3 or 4 games into one compilation and try to get some interest back in the series, the games I'd pick would be Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Unleashed(the best one)or SA2, Heroes and Unleashed if they only put 3 games in with other games coming in as DLC down the line if they so wish or they come free in updates who knows

7:51 So in the other words, the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise
So when are we going to have a game so bad the thumbnail would show SomeCallMeJohnny spitting out his drink?
I have the switch version. Partly because it was cheaper but mostly because I have the N Sane Trilogy on Switch. I am very happy I can take this game around with me.
7:58 This scene actually changes if you're playing as Coco. Instead of distorted Crashes saying "Woah!" you get distorted Cocos saying "Yeah!". And the meme Cocos are scary as FUCK.
"Off beat" in Crash 4, has to be one of the best levels in Crash history. You've got enemies playing to the tune in sync in the background
while they are trying to kill you. I was laughing my ass off as this! :D And whats more, at the very end of the level, that same type of group that are trying to kill you
play some tunes at the very end and follow you like they are trying to taunt you. I loved it! I can tell a lot of thought was put into that level.
Anyone else's heart drop when he restarted that stage after he grabbed the flashback tape? It doesn't matter if you die after you get it. You still have it
7:26 I let out an audible LOL. That was very nice.
I would have loved more story cutscenes, to really build things up. I love this game but the story elements felt rather underdeveloped in some places. Tawna’s Crash and Coco getting killed right in front of her is just totally tossed aside as soon as it is brought up. The could have just brought back original Tawna, as her alternate self’s backstory played no role.

In terms of 100% completion. Yeah. But casually? No. Crash 4 is way better.
Hopefully SGB comes back
I really hope that if Crash 4 gets DLC with a new campaign later down the line (or at least in a possible Crash 5), they reintroduce Crunch Bandicoot so that he’s done proper justice for his debut. As much of a mess Wrath of Cortex was, I think there’s good potential for Crunch as a character where he starts off as the antagonist until he rebels from Cortex and joins the Bandicoot Clan. Him being playable in Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fuel gives me hope that Toys For Bob/Beenox will utilize him more.
If you truly want to go insane you can try for the Toys for Bob relics, they basically require an almost flawless run. Also the perfect Relics only require you to break all the boxes and not die. You don’t need any other gem, however since you need all the boxes you will usually get the wumpa gems. And if you collect a flashback tape, and then die you don’t need to restart. Once you collect it, it’s yours.
This game is literally, to get the full experience, you have to find the middle ground between a full casual run and a 100% run.

I love the aesthetics of Crash 4 and its creative new character designs and bosses. Some criticism would be the N Sanely long levels making it a bit tedious to hunt for all the crates, and some are hidden completely off screen without any indicator which is bad game design. I recall one stage had over 500 crates in it !
After 2 years we get a new crash game
Johnny you NEED to 100% this. The reward is well worth it.
I feel like every time I want to talk about the game I go into the rant about the boxes. Even tho I feel the game is pretty good when you ignore the boxes. But for me, the box breaking is what makes Crash ... well Crash! So probably my first half through the game was me frustrated with the games straight up BAD box placements. When the game comes to PC I will probably enjoy my playthrough more when there's been some time since its launch.
This game is, in my opinion, the Sonic Mania in the series. Where they’re is so much passion and love shown in every single bit of the game from the gameplay to the cutscenes. This game is so worth $60. Cannot wait to see the future for this series
I still hope Sega abandons Sonic as an IP now that they've given other IP's a chance to shine.

It may not be like Sonic Mania being a "reliving" moment just with new stuff added In there but still had blast from the past with this one with the cutscenes may not be movie quality but still enjoyed some of them, the gamepaly Is excellent, I actually enjoyed some of of the Quantum Masks (mostly Akano and Ika Ika), and although we may not got too much alternative dimensions like Spiderverse I still admire the story and no surprise N. Tropy would be the main threat only for Cortex to steal back his spotlight again. But anyway; who know what truly future holds for our beloved Bandicoot cause things ares till looking bright for him since last year and N.Sane trilogy reviving him and now to give our buddy; Spyro the same Bizzaro Sequel unlike Enter the Dragonfly did to him. While I may got skeptical at first It wouldn't live up to his' name and It was gonna be one of those games that just relies on Nostalgia, the art style at first should've been different since Spyro and the others suits more In their style but honestly still works on It's own thenn being too cartoony, Dingodile could've been a main distraction to the plot or any sub-plot and adds nothing to It except for comic relief similar to how Big the Cat tarted of but that wasn't the case, and still curious what ever did happen to the real Tawna Bandicoot rather she was still living with Pinstripe the entire time or actually made a big living for herself Pauline Style form Super Mario Odyssey and that "Woah!/Yeah!" meme I never thought I get to see and just comes to show that even a Bandicoot can do better hidden Easter Eggs then a certain Hedgehog ever could. Also hearing Dingodile saying "Dam" and Tawna saying "Heel" truly shocked me but to quote from the TMNT 1990's Movie Poster; "Hey Dude, This Is No Cartoon!"
Anyhwo; see ya till Crash Of The Titans/Mind Over Mutants or at least the other handheld spin-offs. And been you and me you might see them as Guilty Pleasures with Titans/Mutants but the other are just plan trash.
It is infinitely better than the Sonic Mania approach of shoehorning nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia. Because this is a sequel that actually feels like a sequel rather than a glorified fan mod that Sega published because they can't make a decent Sonic game themselves.
14:35 it’s funny i actually loved the little pause Cortex does at the end of his dash. it saved me so many times and helps make positioning easier imo
i love how spirited this review is, I giggled a lot and just felt more energy (esp after the little selene bit) afterwards!
I'd laugh if the 100% completion reward is a postcard.
It's a secret ending and a costume
@@jam9852 Dost thou not understand the reference within this joke?
@@MikeTheVA no sorry
@@jam9852 When you 100% Super Mario Sunshine, your reward is a postcard. Considering that game is fucking brutal with its difficulty, many players saw it as a punch to the balls. Even Johnny, whose review of said game had him throw a massive tantrum when he 100%ted it. "OOOOH, YA GET JACK SHIT FOR GETTING EVERY SHINE SPRITE IN THE GAME!"
@@MikeTheVA lol I've heard some people call crash 4 the Mario sunshine of the crash series I've never played Mario sunshine because it does not look as fun as 64 or galaxy.
Seeing as how Crash 2 is my favorite of the whole series, hearing that 4 takes inspiration from it immediately sells it to me
I get Crash 2 & 3 vibes of this game. Which isn't an bad thing at all. Considered both 2 & 3 are some of the best Crash games and some of the best 3D platforming games. And this game is definitely in the top 3 spot with 2 & 3.
This is probably one of my new favorite reviews by you. Love angry Johnny and your perspective on the box gems echoed mine too a T.

They've been there for decades in real time, as shown by the tally count on the rock. So they were still babies, but just grew up again.
... I mean, homey, it was called "The Sonic's Arse" game in development, so of course you're gonna talk about Sonic a bunch in comparison to this game. (The name being from it having the perspective of being behind the runner, instead of beside, not that they thought it was a shittier version of Sonic)
Yeah. It's About Time. LOL! But on an serious note, this game was an amazing experience. And hey. When you are just playing it normally and not go for 100% completion, the game is fantastic. One of the best 3D platforming games we had in an long time and top 3 best Crash games; along with Cortex Strikes Back & Warped. It may be hard. But I think it's difficulty is in the right position. Nothing brutal or nothing all that tedious to do.
But yeah. If you're going to 100% the game, than u better bring your A game. It's ridiculously hard. Trying to find all of them can loses it's focus from time to time and it's alot of hassle to do. Still better than Super Mario Sunshine's 100% completion, though. 😂
I already got to 106% just yesterday. And it was definitely frustrating, but very satisfying. Getting a perfect on Bears Repeating was especially a pain in the ass, mostly in the Polar section. And you have to get all the time trials on Platinum to get to the maximum percentage of this game, not just gold
Your reviews are very detailed and with decent humor. As always
This game is MISERABLY hard for someone who 100%'d Crash 1 and 2. Like, I can only play 2 hrs at a time before rage quitting, and that's NOT an overstatement.
Everyone support the release of this game so that we could potentially get DLC later on.
I'd love to, but Activision decided not to release it on Switch/PC, therefore I can't.
@@TrunkJunky Didn't Activision release the N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy both a year later on PC and Switch? Crash Nitro Fueled was a different case because it was a multiplayer focused game and there were new tracks added each month for free as well as karts and cosmetics you could get by participating in online races.
@SpiteHook yes!
Johnny's cat: oh no, he's going N Sane again, better get the fuck out of here
I’m nearly 100 hours in and only completed 79% of the total game
