She can actually hit things, but apparently only if it hurts her, as seen with the little dolls and explosive rocks...
I thus recommend Kazuma to get her sword cursed so that it hurts her every time she hits her target...
The little dolls (guessing you meant Vanir's) were deliberately throwing themselves at Darkness' greatsword, giving her the delusion that she was hitting them. Can't quite explain how she hit those explosive rocks...
...of course, she has no problems punching or grappling foes (Kazuma has felt both of those at least once.)
I mean she can also hit things if she losses the sword and uses her bare hands

Darkness hates being referred to by her real name, but she also hates being called "tough".
Muscular as well, she hates being called manly and muscular in the manga, and hates being pointed out her abs are showing even though its wasn't

It is stated on the Light Novels that the reason Darkness is unable to hit enemies with her Sword is due to the fact that, like 414Anime said, she spent all of her skill points on durability-oriented skills and didn't put a single point at Sword Mastery, thus "enabling" her to fight with a sword xD
Darkness doesn't need to be possessed to have effective offense. Kazuma just needs to gift her a sword that deals a percentage of the damage dealt back to the wielder.
Or just give her a set of armor that gives some percentage of the damage to the attacker whenever she is hit (some sort of thorn damage). She would be OP by that.

so funny thing is if you take her sword away she is flat out op strong, to the point that she can pretty much KO anyone by just grabbing them by the head and squeezing. as such kazuma contemplates taking away her sword and making her just grapple their foes.

The one thing that steals my sleep, is all the possible outcomes to which way Konosuba's story is heading.
1) we know that Kazuma died at the begining; what about his 'body'? Will there ever come a time we get to see what happened and how his parents reacted etc. and will Kazuma ever think of that?? I don't think Aqua was being serious when explaining his death to him and something else happened or was going to..
2) Its only my imagination but what if Megamin and Kazuma are same people from different universe or something like that? Or what if all 4 are same one?
3) and speaking of that, what if they all are online gamers but from diffrent universe (or whatever) or just normal human beings like Kazuma? Because in the end Konosuba is very much like playing a RPG game with friends; 1 who is total useless or rager and screams all the time, one who is way to into roleplay of his/her charecter, one who loves the pain of hard games or the one who always cracks jokes(speacially sexual)
