Ahhh, Tanya. What can I say except that I love this girl, and I want to adopt this girl. That speech she gave at the very end totally blew me away. I saw it in the English dub, and her performance in that role cannot be over praised. It was AMAZING! Oh yeah, and the bit where they put her in the dress for the photographs, that inner monologue had me laughing for an hour! Start to finish, this show is one epic moment after another!
There was honestly so many amazing moments in this series! The two you mentioned, when she had the meltdown towards the end. She was just voiced so well! :D
Archer, berserker, or caster class, I guess. Like Emiya, she won't enjoy any buffs from lack of legends and myths about her. However, she will have higher physical stats and probably a "mana burst"-like skill to represent boosting her physical stats with enhancement magic. Her NP will probably have anti-divine and/or anti-human properties. The innocent monster skill would also fit her. Seeing as we summon heroes in their peak, she will probably be from the late years of the war or a little after it. Her normal attacks will probably have low divinity bonus damage (due to the blessings).
and she's flying. AND SHE'S FLYING! HIGHER! THE QUENN OF THE SKY, SHE'S FLYING TOO FAST AND SHE'S FLYING TOO HIGH! HIGHER, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, THE LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE!
correction... Ervin Rommel did not want to go to a higher rank so he can be away from the frontlines. in fact even at the rank of field marshal he is often seen in the fronlines during WWII and during WWI he was leading his men on assault which earnes him his iron cross
Tanya's reputation as Ace of Aces and Devil of the Rhine is actually a reference to Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, where in her adulthood Nanoha is considered the Ace of Aces of the Time-space Adminstration's military she works for and has the reputation of the White Devil of the Administration(this is more an out-of-universe moniker from fans, but her being called the Devil is mentioned a few times in the series.) The author of Youjo Senki has said that Tanya is inspired from a fanfiction he read about Nanoha as a Soviet commissar, and many elements of Youjo Senki pay homage to Nanoha, not the least of which is Tanya being a WMD magical loli and combat instructor.
Hey how come they never made an English dub for strikers. Season 1 & 2 both got dub but strikers didn't? I literally started rewatching nanoha back in 2017 realizing that they never dub strikers.
To clarify her kill count is only recorded for Mage interception kills, if we factor in regular infantry and other non mage personnel it would be a lot higher
Except Edward is more Empathetic then Tanya, Tanya is less due to her ideals. It's like.... comparing a left wing Libertarian to a right wing Libertarian, sure both have titles "Libertarian" on them but both are opposite as Night and Day, Edward would freaking despise Tanya
Tanya is one of the best villain protagonists ever created. I really hope they make a second series of her. She has the "Saint" to beat, and I want to see that fight.
Not even a villain. Just so extremely sinister that she appears like a villain. Yet in retrospect, she's not really a villain at all. Just a person with their own goal.

@@nexuszero72 well technically a near literal translation if you read Japanese characters as if you were reading English you would sound like yoda. Though of course not as simplified. (this can apply for subs and dubs) Basic translation involves rearranging for the average western English speaker to at least comprehend. A better version would be to simply do that, but instead redefine what is said so it's no longer akin to using google translate and more along the lines of how an average English speaker would speak and write. Although it woudnt be exactly what they're saying, there wouldn't be a real "lost in translation" as a Japanese dub watcher with English sub watcher would be parallel in following conversations and plot even if the roles were reversed. As a bonus, you could change some references to better fit whatever country it's airing in as it would better fit the culture, society, and the various problems that follow.
A quick sidenote with Rommel: Even when he rose through the ranks and became a general and eventually a Field Marshal, he was always next to the frontlines coordinating every move his army makes. Eventually his insistence on always being on the frontlines has become an inspiration to his men that they made a saying about him: "Where Rommel is, there is the front" Quite the contrast from Tanya who wanted out of the battlefield
Is being x really God? The way he use the last guy and now his daughter only just to teach one person a lesson is like too evil for me to believe that is God. To me it looks like the devil trolling some one just for the lulz
I don't know if it's the devil but it's something that really just want to troll Tanya. Mystery Being X is a fitting name. To be honest, I expected her to be downright evil given the title but she is just pragmatist being punished because of that is annoying.
God in regards to Christianity has shown himself to be cruel in some aspects, usually to push home a lesson or as punishment. Still there are questionable instances when some would have thought it to be undeserving like him laying waste to every man woman and child for simply living in a city he considered evil.

Another fun fact. During WWII there were rumors of witches, but flying for Russia against Germany along the northern front. The Russian army was stretched so thin they were accepting female volunteers to fly night raids. Under the cloak of night with no lights and flying at high altitudes. German soldiers couldn't see anything and only hear the whoosh of the air turbulence from that altitude. And yes I know Tanya takes place during WWI, but there is WWII era technology too in the anime.
@@dream1430 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antihero Yes she is an antihero because 1. She is actively reacting to the story sonzai X creates and changes for Him/Her. 2. She doesn't have any traditionally heroic qualities, nor moral guidelines limiting her desitions. She only possesses a will that reacts in the most logically sound way against whatever the story presents.
I want to somehow work that into a fanfic. Like imagine that Tsuyu has this hidden cruel streak if you piss her off? Calls it her "Krul-Mode" but acts like Tanya in battle?
(Madoka Magica Spoilers) Try Tanya and Froppy (Both Actress) for the Sub:Tanya and Madoka for the Dub:Tanya Anna Nishiknomiya and Mei Misaki She is against Being X who is a God which contradicts Madoka who is a goddess
One point about Tanya, she has taken hits to protect her troops during the heat of battle. Seeing her people get hurt by the enemy quickly enrages her. She also forgave 2Lt Grantz sparing him from punishment for his insubordination while suppressing the Arene insurrection. The ruthless little pragmatist cares more than she'd ever want to admit, even to herself. IMO Tanya has grown and changed from the Salaryman she was in her last life, and continues to do so. Tanya seems content and happy to be sitting with her unit at the end of "Operation Desert Pasta".
Her professional technique that she even taught her squad was to create clones of themselves to draw enemy fire. This was outright said in the manga (dont remember chapter but should be pre-30), and also shown in the first episode of the anime.
Nice vid, though I'm surprised you didn't include one of Yuuki Aoi's most iconic roles - Clementine (Overlord) -- I only knew Yuki from your examples lol. She also voiced Futaba from Persona 5 and from what I read, a voice option for the game Catherine
3:57 You're right to say that Rommel wanted to reach a higher rank, you're wrong about staying away from the front as possible. It is known that Rommel is said to be found closer to the front lines more often than other officers of similar rank, despite his position as a ranking officer, especially in the later years of WW2.

Reincarnated to a girl, so a girl.
When you read further you realize this is actually a mix of WW1 and WW2, Romel was later shown the the African campaign
You can notice it even early on because of the technology.
Yeah the free republic=free france and the last part of the anime is from WW2
Well it's more accurate to say that it's a WW1 that just never actually ended.
C Michael Bravo that is half true. Rommel was already an infantry officer in WW1
and the danger loli herself has considered the idea of being that world's hitler.
Tanya in a nutshell:

@@appleholo2336 the 'i don't need ammo' bit made me laugh.
unless you are a Halo Spartan with mage abilities then maybe you can beat Tanya but that is a big maybe
@@414Anime that speech was basically a rip off of Kubrick full metal jacket
You may want to, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want to be adopted by you. If you can't offer her a better life than she has at that point.
you know she'd kill you in your sleep right? XD
I just imagined the face of the actress when she saw that part of the script "Wtf did I got myself into"😆😆😆
Tanya has two modes:
1. Cunning tactical genius
2. Bad shit insane merciless killer
Tanya and the Saga of Evil is a mixture of both world wars and the early jet age
I can’t imagine what will she be like if we summon her as a heroic spirit.
Definitely berserker but with a bit more intelligence. Or a archer idk
would like to see her argue with someone like, umm, how many bratty gods does fate have?
and she's flying.

He is Tanya's CO in book 4.
@@stephentaylor3125 That's general 'Romeel' not Rommel.
Haha that's the impression Tanya left to the officials. It's funny irony.
Thats true, Erwin actually sat and watched the battle of El Alamein
Didn't Rommel lead the Ghost division before the Afrika Corps?
Person: one second late to military training
Tanya: hi person meet your grave
Kabuki Kitsune and in that instant set person was stupid enough to challenge tanyas authority as his superior.
Extra Fact: The creator only thought of two words for a main character for Youjo Senki
Killer Loli
Then the fans suddenly thinks of Loli Hitler and German Loli and Angry German Loli
XD t
Tanya's reputation as Ace of Aces and Devil of the Rhine is actually a reference to Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, where in her adulthood Nanoha is considered the Ace of Aces of the Time-space Adminstration's military she works for and has the reputation of the White Devil of the Administration(this is more an out-of-universe moniker from fans, but her being called the Devil is mentioned a few times in the series.)
The author of Youjo Senki has said that Tanya is inspired from a fanfiction he read about Nanoha as a Soviet commissar, and many elements of Youjo Senki pay homage to Nanoha, not the least of which is Tanya being a WMD magical loli and combat instructor.
7:21 That is a cursed image

Tanya's surname "Devil of the Rhine" might also comes from the Red Baron's surname in France which was "Red Devil/Demon".

What I love about this is the fact that in our history the first world war started in 1914 and ended 1918. But in the anime they're on the brink of their first world war In the year 1923 and ends in 1924. Which puts them ahead of our history and explains why we see a mix of 1st and 2nd world war technology and tactics why I love this anime
You made a mistake. The powers used are not called spells, they're refered to as formulas. This isn't Harry Potter.
Centorea 88 they are translated to "spells" in the English dub.
@@kitchenjail3546 Dubs often bs their way through translations and the changes they make
@@nexuszero72 well technically a near literal translation if you read Japanese characters as if you were reading English you would sound like yoda.

A quick sidenote with Rommel:
Even when he rose through the ranks and became a general and eventually a Field Marshal, he was always next to the frontlines coordinating every move his army makes.

Zero Noctis she’s not an anti hero ...
@@dream1430 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antihero
Yes she is an antihero because 1. She is actively reacting to the story sonzai X creates and changes for Him/Her. 2. She doesn't have any traditionally heroic qualities, nor moral guidelines limiting her desitions. She only possesses a will that reacts in the most logically sound way against whatever the story presents.

You're right to say that Rommel wanted to reach a higher rank, you're wrong about staying away from the front as possible.
