Until the last ep, neofumi literally saw her as a kid. He didn't realize she grew up fromleveling. hell look at the fact that he couldn't even TASTE anything because he was so bitter. It's only after she stayed by his side even after being freed and realized she isn't like everyone else who hates him he realized she grew up (which was why he couldn't recognize her for a moment) this was also when he started being able to taste again.

It's hardly as simple as everyone was just giving him bad food, as even bad food has taste. Again look at the fact that he didn't notice raphtaila grew up. Not noticing a little kid you had by your side grow into a adult in the space of a few days/weeks is far from normal, this shows something wrong with his mind and that issue leechs into other things like his lack of taste, inability to trust unless they have a slave crest and i'm sure there are one or two more mental issues he has to work past but it's been a long time since i read the web novel so i can't recall (granted this anime is based off the light novel so there may be some slight differences)

It's safe to say the way he was treated left him mentally scarred, maybe even some kind of PTSD if his breakdown after raphtaila got freed was anything to go by. he flat out started hearing and seeing things that weren't happening.

It's a bit different from the usual MC obliviousness. Naofumi deliberately thinks of Raphtalia as his daughter and aside from that, mostly focuses on getting out of this world and back home, anyway. At least in the webnovel. Granny changed her mind after Naofumi's shield enhanced medicines brought back some of her old strength.
yeah in both the novels he is basically traumatized towards women because of B*tch ... also the curse of his wrath has also a lot to do with is complete disinterest even revulsion towards romance and related intimacy.
Its a pity the WN committed it but in the WN at the end of the battle with the Wrath Dragon Naofumi gets his wrath sucked out ... and turns into a normal otaku and it freaks everyone out so they basically force his wrath back to get him back to normal ... It was great.

She proceeds to leave to room majorly pissed off that nothing happen.

@@anti-mate407 na mate, there are about type of hero's called the 7 star hero's or the vassle weapon holders. What's different about them is they can turn the normal citizens into heros. The katana vassle weapon she got was from glass's world or if you don't know glass just think of it as another world
In the web novel she becomes the 7 star hero of the hammer... and she uses lightning (but still has her light and dark affinity)... so she kinda became thor... Also I dont know in the LN if they will do this but bh then end of the WN she has the highest attack, strong enough to kill most gods in a hit or two, and can smash through realities/other worlds (kinda) of course to balance this she has practicly no defence making that if you can hit her you can either fataly wound her or even kill her, (of course when she got this naufumi got the opposite and has such a high defence he can take actual 1 hit kill moves (moves that cut you and your parrallel worlds version of yourself) but has 0 attack, meaning even his strongest punch he can't even hurt a baby (maybe tickle it)

@@gahmivolka6582 In the Web novel, the girl which will become the sword hero's partner becomes the wielder of the katana because the author wanted couples to match weapons. A few of the weapons just went to random people because really they were leftovers with no one in the main cast that specializes in that respective weapon.

(not the web novel) most spoilers come from the web novel because it is free, translated and is a rough draft acting as a bare bones skeleton for how the story will progress. Hence you can mostly ignore Raphtalia becoming the hammer hero unless the author decides to do so again. I was just explaining why the katana goes to someone else in the original despite not making sense for Raphtalia using another weapon

It is clear you have done a fair bit of research, and you have most of the major points correct, but I do have to correct you on one thing.
The illusion sword is not technically her own power, it is a weapon ability from the experimental weapon she received from the weapon shop owner. He gifted her an experimental sword that had no blade, and they discovered she could create a blade by feeding it her magic. This means that while she is the only person who has used the blade, this skill could technically be used by anyone.
Would also need to double check the source material, but pretty sure illusion magic is straight dark, since Naofumi is the sole light magic user of the group.
i could go ahead and tell you which of your future theories is correct, but we can leave that till the end of the series. Light novel for the win.

May I add, Her Bodies Age is 17 or even 18 when she grew up After the leveling. And no, her Mind is still that of a Child. She had 3 owners before Naofumi and was sold to the slavetrader in the First place then sold and sold back until ending up with Naofumi.

Hi i have read the light novel and you have some information but i will explain.
SPOILER Warning
The Hammer weapon is what she received in the Web Novel version of the story like overlord they are similar but the writer expanded and changed things. But in the light novel which is what the anime and manga are following it will be the katana from another world as there are multiple worlds involved in this each with 4 holy (primary) weapons and 8 vassal (secondary) weapons. Each holy weapon holder acts as the pillars keeping that world up and are the most powerful. but the vassals are free to go between worlds, normally the holy weapons don't, in addition your levels in one world won't effect you in another so you reset at level 1 except if a wave with your world is happening then your levels are effectively combined together and if you say have 50 in that world and 40 in another your strength is about 90.
Also the katana stays with them and goes back to the main world after the events of the alternate world so it will still be around. i don't know if the ln will deal with the hammer but i have a feeling it might not even be a hammer as some of the weapons are different.
If you want to know more i can tell you as ive read all 13 english novels and the web novel and know most of the differences. up to a point but i can tell you that the light novel expanded and added large story lines and made the tasks they faced more than a simple out right battle. which is what happend in a few of the cases we see the glass world (the alternate world) never happened in the original web novel though the end result was similar.
If you have seen the anime and want to know who glass is she is the woman in the kimono and with the fans and big spoiler
she has the vassal weapon of the fan from her world and is a type of spirit woman (like a ghost but not exactly but they can see souls)

Every world does not have 4 primary and 8 secondary, it is 1 Primary and 2 secondary, the worlds that have more then 1 primary are worlds that merged.
So the world they are in now was originally 4 worlds that merged into 1 and that is why they have 4.

Just a few opinions first off I feel that her romantic feelings for nafumi(misspelled) are very much a young woman’s first crush and nafumi knows or at least has some knowledge about her crush and handles it like any father, ignores it. Part of raphtalia’s fears about being purchased by nafumi is that her previous master tortured her and he looked none to friendly when she first met him. Raphtalia is the second person to join nafumi the first being malty
I think the legendary katana would suit Raphtalia. She is already a beast with her sword.

The Cursed Series of Wrath has a side effect of causing the user to never feel love for anyone hence why he is oblivious. When he lost the shield and memories, he started with all the girls so it is implied as such

She will indeed be "The holder of the Katana of the Vassal weapons". The "vassal weapons" is pretty much the equivalent of the "seven star weapons". It chose her when they were in yet another world, chasing a certain enemy.
Also, they do, more or less, work in the same way the "holy weapons" do. But the power-up system of the "vassal weapons"/"seven star weapons" are said to be 'a little weaker' than those of the "holy weapons". (and they seem to have a will of their own, hence the 'choosing')

All of the 5th fact that is spoilers is well past what we will see this season! The final part of the spoiler is most likely going to be along the lines of early-midway through season 2, and then the beginning tidbit would probably be towards season 3 at my guess. I have kind of thought where they would be per episode and it has been true so far.
SPOILERS TO FOLLOW:
Okay so that should be enough to ignore the rest of this if you dont want to read it. This season most likely will end after the 5th(I think) wave where they have to fight over the water. This is following the island arc, which follows the church arc. The church arc is currently what the series is building up to and I believe that the series will be completing this around episode 12-13, possibly up towards 15 if they drag it out, but I doubt that. So then the island arc will most likely be building up and going through the events on the island, and the final wave of this season, before a finale episode at 25. All of this takes place before the turtle arc(these names are just what I call them btw) which is where the heroes are supposed to get trained by famous adventurers and experts. The old lady who trains Raphtalia comes in at this point of the story, and the training will be a part of the build up to the next major battle, the turtle. I say turtle as to not reveal too much about it. As for the deal with the hammer, the Seven Star Weapons are revealed in, I believe, the build up of the battle with the turtle. There are a couple of the heroes that attend the battle at that time, if I remember correctly. There is much more story to go through before Raphtalia will ever get a chance at becoming a hero herself, so this tidbit of information is waaaaay down the line, and will most likely not be discussed for years to come when it comes to the anime! Let's all hope the anime continues until the completion of the story!
Actually, I just remembered, I think the water battle is the 4th wave. Before the heroes, the Lute village, the wind girl with the curse series, and then the battle on the water. Should be the 4th.

I don't see her swinging a hammer around but I can see her cut monsters in to with a katana . Which is just the better of all two handed long swords and you can't get cut in half when the back of it is forced into you.

She will indeed become a vassal weapon wielder, but not a hammer, she will be wielding a katana. We will most likely not see this in anime as I personally doubt they will manage to cover that much of the story in 25 episodes.
The fighting style you spoke of is more of a knowledge how to wield life energy to do absurd amounts of damage. Even a stick becomes a deadly weapon in a hands of hengen musou master.
I highly predict the anime will have a couple of seasons before it finishes.
