      His defense strategy was to blame everything on opioids but it didn't work. I don't think his lawyers had other choice anyway. Too many evidences. Now, they need to held accountable everyone who allowed or enable him with his wrongdoings.

      @mnpd3 Год назад +4

      Only because the judge doesn't understand the nature of sociopathy. He's actually giving Murdaugh an out for his inhuman behavior... blaming the pills, which was the defense strategy all along. The real culprits is Murdaugh's associated narcissism which means his brain cannot feel the emotions of non-effected people. He's not feeling guilt now, just disappointment that he couldn't talk his way out of killing his family... he thought he could until the very end. Normal people can't understand how a sociopath is wired differently - always looking for how anyone could do such things without remorse. They are essentially a non-feeling machine wrapped in a meat suit and whose behavior is based on mimicking what they've seen in other people. It's an old movie, but the "replicants" in the old 1982 Harrison Ford movie, Bladerunner were engineered sociopaths.

      What alex did, did happen because of his opioid use. I know this because I'm dependant on opioids since prescribed them for an injury. It soon took over my life but I would never ever hurt anybody no matter how desperate. I would never steal to pay for it. So when I see people blame the fact they committed a crime on drugs i just don't buy it. You have to have something inside you that makes you capable regardless of drug use.

      I am probably the only one here who also has empathy for Alex Murdaugh because I am trying to understand why he became such a monster. What did he experience in his family of origin, how was he raised to become such a psychopath? I suspect the family had huge psychological issues. Every person/child reacts differently to psychogenic influences. In Alex's case, they seem to have had only a negative, destructive effect. I can only guess...

    All along I've felt this has been like a Shakespearean tragedy. When Alex said on the stand, almost under his breath, "Oh what a tangled web we weave..." (when first we practice to deceive.) I almost fell out of my chair. That's about as close to a confession as I think he'll ever give. I thought it was from Shakespeare, but it turns out it was from a Sir Walter Scott poem. Such a potent way of saying "Lies beget more lies, which beget more lies," so don't even start that ball of yarn unravelling!

It was sloppy at best and for sled in cohorts with waters to hire a “blood expert” from Oklahoma who had previously caused a man to be wrongfully convicted and spend 13 years in prison was a terrible call , the way that they tried to hide the snottiness of his “work” in this case and the shameless way they tried to have it admitted as evidence was disgusting. They were found out and they tried to stall and hide all the info from the defense and then tried to have another witness regurgitate his faulty “report” as his own before this judge shot that down too. Also make note that keel was literally just in court a week ago in civil rights case where he side stepped a judge and did what he wanted to anyway - he was ordered at this point to pay $11,700 in legal fees for this wrongdoing. He was being sued big time for boating accident. By killing Paul, that would go away. Maggie wasn't wearing her wedding ring, properties on her name, pending divorce. Kill her and that's sorted. The both of them also found all his drugs.

      I also believe his wife had been to see a divorce lawyer. That would have been costly. Son found the pills at the beach house. Paul was also facing the boat accident that killed Malory. Dad lent the boat and they were suing for 4 million.

    Why will he NEVER admit the truth?
    Because some of his (-and, even Maggie’s) family members cannot allow themselves to believe he could do it, and,
    if he were to admit to this act, he would sever the only bonds he has left…the connection to the only people in the world who still love him (-at least the *idea* of who they THINK he is).

    An oft overlooked point in cases like this where the perp begs for clemency and forgiveness because he/she was an alcoholic or opioid addict, claiming addiction was the reason for the crime: bull shit: you are a liar, thief and killer who happened to be taking drugs. Not the other way. Murdaugh, a slimey little killer, was grasping at straws. He killed his son and wife in cold blood and then lied about it. And now he'll be bending over for Rover for the rest of his worthless life. Ouch. That's gotta hurt!

    John Marvin is wearing the same shirt Paul was wearing in his boat case mugshot. I wonder if it is actually Paul’s shirt & he was wearing it in memory of him? Pretty Subtle way of honoring & representing him on this day of sentencing if so. It’s interesting that Not One member of the Murdaugh family sat on the other side of the courtroom representing Maggie & Paul. In the beginning of the trial I can somewhat understand that but it wouldn’t of taken me long to be on the other side representing them. Probably after Rogan’s testimony & for sure after Will Loving testified I’d be over there.

    It's sad for family, mostly, tragic for buster, life will forever be 100%changed. His drug abuse, what Dr. Would ever issue that out, had to be dealers, perhaps he owed them massive $$$$. Wonder if Alec was given choice of his life, or to take his fam members life. If dealers involved, Alec was too scared for his own life, and knew his son and wife would forever live in poverty, shame and danger, if they had lived. If he faked his own suicide attempt, maybe he should've taken his own life, and at least given son and wife chance to rise above, or at least chance for son to become father, husband and Maggie a life as grandma, buster a chance to be uncle..
    Such an uneccessary tragedy, but Alec held whole situation in his hand.God bless them all. Prayers to the family.🙏🙏🙏❤️

    surely seems like judge was nice and wanting and was giving alex ample time in front of him to ADMIT it, to sentence less time, he was very nice judge, but appeal will happen surely, he's only getting 10-20 years, he's 54 or 64 - 1958-b-day, can't live forever, so who knows how long he will live in jail and he still have to life to face other crimes, the judge was pretty fair and open minded wanting alex to say something maybe it would of helped, but now they need to look for other killers, maybe there is evidence they will find or suppress in the appeal-always usually happens

      God forbid. Who would be so demented to ask his advice when he didn’t get away with his own 2 murders, got caught in a boatload of lies (pun intended), was caught stealing millions from clients, partners, family, friends, was caught on audio/video at the scene, botched suicide for hire, etc. Etc. Ad infinitum? You’d have to have been lobotomized to want his legal advice, unless you wanted to willingly “walk the plank” and jump ship (pun intended). I mean, can we be real for a moment? Inmates should be giving Mur Mur legal advice. Surprised he passed the bar exam and became a lawyer. Then again, maybe he cheated, lied and plagiarized his way through law school. We sure as hell know he was useless as a father, son, husband and mentor. Such a waste of his life. He should have done great things especially since he was born into wealth an privilege.
