Justice is done for sure! But I gotta be honest, I didn't think they proved he killed them. In saying that, I'm so glad he was convicted as I whole heartedly believe this is one evil, corrupt man that I always believed he did it, I just didn't see the proof

@@jonburrows2684 I have withheld my personal feelings of whether I believe him to be guilty or not. My interest has been in the proceedings as well as how people perceive various pieces of evidence. In so doing, I have been accused of making excuses for Alex AND being snowed by the prosecution when my observations were merely about logic, probability, and motive. Up until a week ago, I never even heard of the Murdaughs, had no knowledge of the son's boat accident, never heard of any financial embezzlements, and didn't know the wife and son had been murdered. I went to the beginning and watched from there. Not clips, but entire proceedings. I have never watched documentaries or listened to individual podcasts concerning any of the many Murdaugh issues. Everything I learned about this case came straight from the trial.
I don't believe the prosecution proved guilt at all. I am appalled the case didn't get thrown out the moment it was discovered that the indictment was made possible by untrue information provided by the prosecution. I find it really curious that a judge would disallow the jurors to take notes during such a complex and lengthy case. I'm disgusted that the jury was not sequestered and find it to be quite a coincidence that several documentaries were released BEFORE the trial. I found it totally unbelievable that the very basics of investigation were ignored - preserving evidence properly, blood-hair-tissue samples of Alex, the hair in Maggie's hand, the refusal of SLED to go and get Maggie's phone when it was found, the waiting for over a week to bother to extract data, thereby losing the most crucial data from June 7 and 8, and on and on. Contrary to other's believing that Law Enforcement was sloppy as a method of protecting their buddy, Alex, I'm inclined to believe perhaps they were intentionally working to NOT help him. I don't think they wanted to find evidence that would exonerate him. I am still stunned by the number of people who seem to have bought into the timelines presented as "proof" of theories. It's simply a matter of understanding time, speed, distance mathematics. Where it was said Alex could have accomplished certain things, that mathematic understanding would have proved otherwise. Where it was claimed he had ample time to do others, it could be shown that there was no way. I also believe there is far more going on here than what's been presented, and now no one will feel a need to keep digging to get the inconsistencies ironed out. Journalists and podcasters will move on to the next big thing.
And finally, I am afraid for the people of this country. You stated that you don't believe guilt was proven, yet you're glad he's been convicted. Do you understand that you are putting a stamp of approval on punishing someone for a crime that hasn't been proven to your satisfaction? Would you vote guilty as a juror even though you didn't feel guilt was proven? That's scary. No one is safe. Why are you happy he was found guilty? Because he lied? Because he was a thief? Because he was wealthy? Because he had a perceived power? My opinion is that he was found guilty simply because the bulk of the jury doesn't understand how civil lawsuits work, that they don't just go away because a member of the accused's family was murdered. Even if Alex, himself, was murdered, the lawsuits would continue against his estate. The prosecutor knew that. Alex certainly knew that. The given motive is preposterous for a man of Alex's knowledge of the law. I think the pills is where the truth lies. Not because of his addiction, but because of his ability to get such large quantities easily. I think there's a reason he has an airplane and landing strip at one of his waterside properties. I think there may be some very dirty people in that county involved. And I think it is far, far bigger of a deal than anyone has bothered to dig into. Just my opinion. Call me crazy if you must, but this just doesn't pass the smell test. Sorry about the novel. I'm just really upset about a justice system that seems to be catering to all it was designed to protect against. Is he guilty? Maybe. But that's not the issue here, is it?

Murders aside (🙄), listening to the housekeeper Blanca talk about working for these people made me want to spit. They’d leave leftover food just sit on the stove, typically didn’t even put it away themselves. Left it out until morning. Alex took a shower and left his pants on the bathroom floor. The grown sons didn’t even know how to do their own laundry. These people are/were lazy, privileged Caucasian trash. Not that smart, either. Maggie didn’t work, and yet she had ‘staff.’ The neighbor guy came by 2X a day to feed and clean up dog crap because despite being in financial trouble, they just couldn’t be bothered to do their own dirty work. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Just because someone has money or clout or status doesn’t mean JACK. We all need to stop being awed and having automatic respect for people with money and celebrity and status. These people were TRASH. All of them - including Paul and Buster. Buster’s time is coming soon in the death of Stephen Smith. Maggie was just as wrapped up in the money as anyone and I think part of the reason Alex killed her is he didn’t want to listen to her bitching once she found out they didn’t have any money. HUMAN GARBAGE.

Justice for Maggie and Paul. An excellent example of how the American judicial system ought to work. Even with a case that relied primarily on circumstantial evidence, a jury was able to reach a correct and just verdict. And the case was presided over by an excellent judge. When you see a case and verdict like this where a powerful figure in the community gets brought to justice, it's all the more disappointing that there are still so many career criminals who come in and out of the justice system and are repeatedly released to continue their crime sprees against so many innocent victims.

In my experience as a jurist, we reached a unanimous verdict in 5 minutes. And perhaps due to some type of consideration or other, we were chambered an additional 55 minutes before returning to the court.
With the preponderance of evidence presented by the People here, I’m certain the jury once assembled in their chambers, voted unanimously guilty in a relative length of time when they performed their initial anonymous poll.
Thank goodness for their professionalism in making sure justice was properly served.

Unanimous verdict in 5 minutes. Wow. That's really scary. Unless someone is caught in the act of committing a crime, there are always pieces of evidence that aren't a good fit or are maybe even irrelevant. The fact that 12 people have zero questions about such things is either because they don't care to take the time to hammer them out, or they simply aren't bright enough to see where they exist. All this tells me is our justice system already has a foot in the toilet.

    • @cjking4511

In all fairness, this jury did NOT reach that verdict in 5 minutes. They were forced to sit through weeks of trial at hours a day. They may have "reached a verdict" in "3 hours" but lets be honest their opinions were formed somewhere during all that testimony and presentations of irrefutable evidence.
