When they're describing Maggie's wounds in detail with autopsy pictures and physical descriptions of the parts of her body ripped into by an assault rifle at close range, and the camera cuts to Buster, blank-eyed, snacking on sunflower seeds. And the fact that NOBODY was willing to give a victim impact statement for Maggie (not even her sister) or Paul; there's something really wrong in this family.

And if you look at the Murdaughs through the generations you can see lying and cheating is part of the culture. The women who marry in know it too, but they all toe the party line. Just like Paul's friends on the boat knew he was an alcoholic abusive jerk, but his place was like a play ground and everybody in the circle shared in the rewards in one way or another. Remember that Maggie texted her friend, "He's up to something." Who says that about someone they love and trust? And her sister regretted encouraging her to go to Moselle. They all knew danger lurked around the corner and AM wasn't to be trusted.

It's disappointing that fewer and fewer talented students pursue mathematics, physics and other sciences. One final note: there is no Nobel Prize in Mathematics due to indiscretions by Nobel's wife and an unknown, amorous mathematician 😁. The highest award in mathematics is the Fields Medal, which is awarded every four years to the mathematician(s) who have obtained groundbreaking and often amazing results. I suppose that I am a bit miffed that studying CSI tends to have a romantic and exotic appeal that attracts a number of mathematically talented students. If I only had the money to hire this expert witness to examine my son and all of the evidence when he was killed 3 years ago perhaps I would know the truth of what happened to him when he died 3 days before his 54th birthday in Sherman, Texas….a city who has, obviously, little to no money to spend on investigating these kinds of things. The only person that was investigated was the woman to whom he had been married for 20 months at the time he died. My son was a Certified Public Accountant and owned his own accounting firm. Collin County would no even perform an autopsy on my son because they said he died in a hospital even though when the police and EMTs arrived, he had sustained a wound from a .45 caliber hollow point bullet in his head…and if you think that was not almost impossible for me to “type”, you are not a parent….he was transported to the local hospital’s ER and was there until he was intubated, put on a respirator in the ICU where was kept alive for approximately 24 hours. There were text messages found on my son’s phone from his “wife” where in July she threatened to “blow your brains out”…6 weeks later that seems to me exactly what happened…and, as I said, because his heart stopped beating in the hospital, they wanted $2,000 to perform an autopsy. I have not even heard from the “detective” in about 2 years…2 years! If I had MONEY I might know what actually happened to my sweet, smart, caring oldest son. Money might not buy happiness but it sure can help you pay doctors, attorneys, and investigators to find out what happened to your child when they die way before their time because NOBODY is going to help you for free because no one else loves your child like you do.

Does anyone else find it very disturbing/weird or even odd that as The Dr’s describing the details/reenactments of how both victims were shot, body placements and the horrific photographs / images of the crime scene / post mortem images as well as his expertise/own versions , etc..? How both AM and his living Son sitting in the courtroom were chewing gum during his entire testimony? As well as not a single tear drop shed , from what I’ve noticed. A particular female sitting back behind AM on the defense side who throughout the trial was smiling, laughing, odd behavior and mannerisms that not anyone else were exhibiting. I’ve even zoomed in and replayed it several times to see on it all. Even slow mode and pausing. Son looking forward at the re enactments/expert/photographs the entire time all the while chewing his gum. Only AM looked down, away a few times. That was the wife of AM’s children, son as well as the mother and brother ( full details) who didn’t die immediately and brutally murdered! First time I’ve seen a child able to, let alone want to stay in the courtroom during the entire trial. Especially when they are called as a witness in a double murder. This case is beyond sad, shocking, disturbing to me. My thoughts are with the family / friends / community/LEO’s /crime scene experts on/off scene of the victims who truly cared and loved them, wanting to see Justice prevail for them! This is all my personal opinions on all above. J/S

IMO he felt he had good reason. Maggie was straying off the Mertaugh reservation, she was asking questions about where their money was, she was demanding he quit his opioids, and she has consulted a attorney (from out of town) about a divorce. Paul was just a problem all around. IMO he was a alcoholic. He was still functioning fairly well until he reached a certain point, at which time his whole personality changed. He became a mean drunk, Timmy, as his friends called him. He was in trouble legally and was probably facing some jail time. In addition, Paul’s behavior was getting Alex audited financially. His kingdom was falling down. To him, that probably looked like a pretty good reason to eliminate both of them. I don’t feel Alex meets the criteria of a family annihilator, except for the financial pressure. According to his friends and family , he seemed normal. IMO he shows signs of grief while the murders are being described. Plus, in the weeks following the deaths but before September 3, he seemed to show signs of a breakdown. Hie still had supreme confidence in his ability to get away with anything, but after he lost his law license his confidence may have slipped a bit. If he is a narcissistic sociopath he saw Maggie and Paul as extensions of himself. If they stopped being useful, they had to go.

This is the most impressive expert I've seen so far in the many homicide trials I've watched. A clear narrative without any stumbling or misgivings. As a student of forensic science and crime scene investigation I would like to have seen the actual crime scene and autopsy photos shown to the jury to put into physical context what Doctor Kinsey is describing, Damaging testimony for the defence. If Alex Mardaugh is convicted, this evidence will have played an integral part in the end result.

This guy did a fantastic job explaining everything. Very knowledgeable well trained and a great witness. He made things very clear as to what exactly happened. His testimony was one of the best.

Surprises me that this family with all their wealth, didn’t invest on a few security cameras on the property !
After receiving so many threats (according to them)after the boat accident, their priority should have been security, but it obviously was not.

I noticed Buster in the gallery. I really don't understand how he can sit through this description of P and M's fatal wounds. It's very troubling.

1:01:11 Ya Gotta Love this Cameraman!
Getting that Sneak Shot of the Picture Evidence(Under Seal) on Screen as the Prosecutor is making sure the screens are covered so no one at home or in attendance in court can see them.
It Makes NO Sense to Keep them under seal like they're some Top Secret or Unimaginably Disturbing Horrific Things, They're Just Crime Scene Photos!

Dr. Kinsey was excellent. Very easy to understand and throughly explained to the Jurors what they needed to know. He sunk Alex. I'll never understand how his brothers can still support or believe anything Alex says.
