Hey Jane is about abortion and Judge Judy is about a woman whos relationship with him ended suddenly due to terminal brain illness.. Its not just about sex 😭
Did he not read the lyrics? He didn't seem to realize that Hey Jane was about an abortion, or that Judge Judy was about a woman that died of a terminal illness? Like what?
He doesn’t want to spoil the ending of the song 🤷🏻♂️ either way it’s not like he’s gonna love or hate the song whether or not Judy dies at the end of it lol. The singing is still weird
I disagree. I don’t think ‘Judge Judy’ was supposed to have “sex appeal” or made to titillate in any way. In fact, I think it was supposed to be the exact opposite, and that was the point of the track. Tyler (or this persona ) is viewing a woman and saying he won’t judge her past sexual relationships and he finally has meaningful sex with a partner where he is free to explore their relationship even with these taboo things. It’s a great addition to the album that is about growing as a person. I mean yeah it’s goofy but come on calling it a “skit” or “gag” does a disservice to the core theme of the album.
It's not just about sexuality it's a story about a woman who's also terminally ill and wanted to enjoy life before dying therefore he provided that level of intimacy which also allowed him to grow and learn things about himself which can be credited to not having judged Judy. Basically Tyler discovered that growth is also about being open minded
we dont juuuuuuuuuudge judy! sonically and melodically its great n a really nice change of pace. n i swear the lyrics are not that big of a deal i dont really understand exactly what yall think is SO bad about this song
This is the rare completely correct Fantano 'worst track' take. Judge Judy is so melodically grating, and just lyrically not clever. But Tyler always has at least one kind of annoying, overlong song on his albums, and the rest is fire as expected
The way Tyler completely reinvents himself on every album makes it such a joy to experience his artistry. Even if you’re not a fan of his you have to respect the amount of time and detail that goes into his rollouts and his releases.
i was in middle school during tyler’s odd future era, and it’s been a genuine treat seeing him blossom as a more mature and skillful artist throughout the years. flower boy really was the opening chapter to a certified classic discography
For me at least, one of your main criticisms of the album is actually one of my favorite aspects of it. “It’s not genuinely new in contrast to his past albums”. Tyler makes a lot of posts of him soloing on synths and jamming but none of that makes it past the cutting room floor. This album he really really let loose and let the production get lost in it’s own sound, especially the ending synth solo THAT WAS FUCKING GREAT. Genuinely such a unique sound and artist to be succeeding in the mainstream, who the hell else is topping charts with shit like this?
His production improves on every album and hes gotten so good at production that to get better at it is diminishing returns atp. I mean that as a massive compliment. we couldn’t disagree more about “Judge Judy”. easily my fav track off the record. Everything sounds clean to me, from the production to the song writing to the vocal deliveries. This song makes me wanna cry every time at the reveal that Judy has died. I think there’s more to this song than “getting ur freak on”. I think it’s about sharing a raw life experience w someone who you feel that matches ur freak but has ultimately passed away. While it is sad, Judy’s response offers some closure that a lot of ppl don’t get w sexual partners. Further, the piano synths at the end along w the gambino vocals makes for a very fever-dream like experience. I think it’ll grow on ppl more as time passes.

I don't think the way some of these tracks sounded like they belonged on his older albums was an accident. Tyler's looking at his own legacy on Chromakopia. It's clear in the way he confronts the possibility of having kids, the way he deals with his relationship with his parents, and the way he was kind of roasting himself about his career on "Take Your Mask Off".
Really really enjoyed this album. Alot of Tyler's singing performances take a bit to grow on me - I was a Judge Judy hater at first but really like it now within the record. He's dropped 4 iconic albums in a row - only Kanye and Kendrick have a discography that could compare to Tyler's at this point
I think this will eventually go down as one of tylers best. Its a much more subtle album than previous offerings but is so detailed in its storytelling and has some really nice unique production and songwriting choices. Also darling i is his best pop hook since boredom
good take, tyler production and album structure/sotryteling helps make him one of the best in the industry right nowe. its only been out for two days and i think over the next 6-12-18 months it will grow on people more and more. didnt disagree that judge judy is the worst "sounding" with the singing and moans.
@geraltrivia9565 id say stuff like noids instrumental has a classic psych rock flavour to it that ive not heard much from tyler. And balloons is one of the most uplifting songs hes ever produced it literally sounds like a mix of mario kart synths and a pop punk chord progression musically. Theres also some really nice acoustic and electric guitar work on this album which was very prevalent on flower boy but it was more chordal in that album whereas as here theres some nice lead parts and tasty licks that give new flavour to tylers typcial jazz and soul voicings. I never said it was groundbreaking just has some unique touches to his already established sound
@@geraltrivia9565this has more depth than Igor though. Igor is a more cohesive concept record, but this album explores themes Tyler has never rapped about before and this makes it different. Plus this doesn’t sound like any of his other albums. It has combinations of all his albums, but still has its own style
I really do appreciate how deeply you go for reviews on these bigger artists. It truly does show that you care about how this sounds and how you want the fans of the artist to react. And then the fans just see the number and start crying.
He doesn’t do it for big artists only. It’s mostly because there’s a lot of content to dissect. Look at his Spellling review for example or even Corey Feldman 😂😂😂
Has anyone really understood the aesthetic of the album? I feel like the music and lyrics doesn’t really match to the name of the album, cover and character. I mean i got the “take the mask off” thing but this album would have been better with a more personal approach not this chroma the great thing
It’s crazy that all he had to say about Judge Judy was that Tyler was able to explore another side of himself sexually when throughout the song we find out the reason Judy was ok with acting out on all of her carnal desires was because she had cancer which she knew about before they got together and has passed since. It really put the entire song in a different perspective for me and made it extremely sad. On first listen I didn’t pick up on the subtle things and had the same line of thought as Fantano but after a listen or two more it’s one that has really stuck with me
I feel like this album sonically could’ve been a lot better. I don’t know if I over hyped this album too much but when it came out I was hoping for a new sounding album, one that contrasts from the rest. And I was hoping he dove into his persona more as he did with Igor and sir Baudelaire. With every new persona Tyler has created they have had their own unique sound, personality, and story. But with this album I didn’t really feel that. It felt like a therapy session with Tyler. It’s a great album ofcourse. But he isn’t bringing his fans something new. Not only that but I feel like his sampling was lack luster on this record, and features on the track sticky didn’t offer much to the theme and overall message of the album and it felt like they were just there which was disappointing. I’m open to criticism if anyone wants to agree or disagree with my take
I generally aggree with most of what you said here. I think the harder hitting tracks are some of Tylers best and I think they did show a lot of evoltion from CMIYGL and Igor. I think you did miss some of the lyrical depth on a few of the softet tracks, but I agree they were a bit weaker. I think 8 is spot on and I was worried you'd say 6/7 based on some of your commentary. Also, Igor deservered a 10, especially with how well its aged.
Although Chromakopia is nothing new instrumentally for Tyler, he seems to seamlessly improve on what he was already good at whilst writing some of his best and most personal lyrics. Great record overall!
I love that people are likening this album to being Tyler’s “Mr. Morale” as the more you listen to it you can kinda tell he’s being very honest with himself and how he feels
I don't think most of the production would fit neither in IGOR or CMIYGL, feels unique and more personal in a way which kind of ties with what's being expressed on the record. The bangers hit as always, yes. But you can notice his growth as a music maker on the more personal tracks. One of the greatest producers of this generation in my opinion.
Man, he pretty much changes his identity. It's crazy, it's good, it's a masterpiece. This album is his 4th growth, as consistency is also present as his last 3rd album. Flower Boy is widely open IGOR is sharing his feelings, in a frantic way. CMIGYL is as perfect as the new album And Chromakopia is as perfect as CMIGYL. HAPPY THAT HE IS A MASTER INNOVATOR
thanks for a well reasoned and intelligent review! it’s really awesome to watch tyler’s growth and maturity, particularly in conversation with my own in the time since i was listening to Wolf in high school, to consuming your content in college and just… having some cringe reactions. to now feeling like so much more of an actual adult, and having this pride in being a tyler fan since way back and being reward by not just his artistic evolution, but his personal growth into such a force as an entertainer. and the fact that your reviews continue to offer an excellent and reliable source of aesthetic testimony to place in conversation with my experiences of records is equally awesome. thank you, anthony!
I think Hey Jane is not about Jane and Tyler, it’s a conversation between his mother and his father. It’s Tyler attempted to put himself in his fathers shoes and understand/accept why he was absent it his life
Yeah I understand some of the criticisms on Judge Judy, I think the delivery at times was a little weird, but the contrasting tones of the instrumentals and the lyrics sort of brings you in more and by the end when the last verse hits, at least for me I kind of just sat with it and the emotions really hit, the love and loss and fear and regrets but also the moving on was a really interesting tone from him.
This is my new favorite Tyler The Creator album. I think he combined all the sounds from his past 3 albums together into one project, and it’s a total masterpiece. I even like it better than Igor.
I feel like this album‘s parallels to his older works is just perfect, this album doesn’t just show us Tyler, the creator but rather it shows us Tyler Okonma, it shows us who he is and what he’s actually feeling like, where he comes from and who he turned into. The mask that he’s wearing emphasizes this really well because he dives into topics about him that are probably very difficult to talk about publicly. I feel like this album is a strong 9 and will grow in value even more over time, it’s really beautiful if you think about it.

Not really unique when Tyler’s been making this stuff for years now. It doesn’t come close to Igor
@@charizardmaster13wow your a loser
@@geraltrivia9565this has more depth than Igor though. Igor is a more cohesive concept record, but this album explores themes Tyler has never rapped about before and this makes it different. Plus this doesn’t sound like any of his other albums. It has combinations of all his albums, but still has its own style
0:20 he is also an actor

He’d probably given it an 11/10 if it was called talktuahopia instead
If it was called “To Chrom A Kopia” you would’ve given it a GONE GONE/THANK YOU.
IT’S GETTING STICKYYYYYY
18:15 what you all are here to see
I AM LESBIAN GIVE ME HEAD
I think an 8 is perfectly fair. It won’t change the world but it is a damn solid album and one of Tyler’s best
If Sexyy Red had two verses instead of one I bet this album would've gotten a ten
Absolutely
Personally I think Tyler had a little bit of a "main character" syndrome in this album, he keeps talking about himself for some reason.
1/10.
@@joaquin5929 Well both of those were because how important those albums were (in different ways, but still.) But yeah, I still get that.
*The way you talk about each track sounds as though you’d give it a palatable 5. Definitely not an 8.*
On first listen I didn’t pick up on the subtle things and had the same line of thought as Fantano but after a listen or two more it’s one that has really stuck with me
CHROMAKOOOOOOOOPIA
I’m open to criticism if anyone wants to agree or disagree with my take
based
if this was named The Great Chromakopia, you would’ve given it a 1
this album is Tyler's version of mr.morale and the big steppers.
I’m ready to get pissed off
Nvm, 8 is pretty solid
When ethan1625 loses his temper the devil shivers
Anthony the song is “Take Your Mask Off”, not “Take Your Pants Off”… that part of this review really caught me off guard.
Saying that you didn’t notice he was wearing a mask due to his matching skin complexion is not cool Anthony.
Bro's least favorite track is Judge Judy?
Bruh
Anthony, you can’t give this album an 8 because he didn’t meet you at the cafe round his way….but I won’t Judge Judy 🤷♂️
If it was called “CHROMAS SEE KOPIAS” you would’ve given it an 10/10!
Fantano you can't just say "wow this Tyler guy is so creative!" For 18 minutes and call it a review
It actually hurt me when he called that part of "Darling, I" cringe... but I see what he means unfortunately.
Man, he pretty much changes his identity. It's crazy, it's good, it's a masterpiece.
This album is his 4th growth, as consistency is also present as his last 3rd album.
Flower Boy is widely open
IGOR is sharing his feelings, in a frantic way.
CMIGYL is as perfect as the new album
And Chromakopia is as perfect as CMIGYL.
HAPPY THAT HE IS A MASTER INNOVATOR
If this album was called Stickytopia he would’ve given it a 10
i love that he gets more comfortable singing on this record, might his most personal and relatable album honestly especially sticky, so beautiful.
Droping your pants and yelling IGOR is indeed not a good review, Thony.
thanks for a well reasoned and intelligent review! it’s really awesome to watch tyler’s growth and maturity, particularly in conversation with my own in the time since i was listening to Wolf in high school, to consuming your content in college and just… having some cringe reactions. to now feeling like so much more of an actual adult, and having this pride in being a tyler fan since way back and being reward by not just his artistic evolution, but his personal growth into such a force as an entertainer. and the fact that your reviews continue to offer an excellent and reliable source of aesthetic testimony to place in conversation with my experiences of records is equally awesome. thank you, anthony!
i would rate this album a 7ish maybe 7.5
10:50 Someone needs to wish idubbbz a happy wedding anniversary with this song asap.
Second review in a row where he misses the fact that an album/song is about terminal illness lol
I think Hey Jane is not about Jane and Tyler, it’s a conversation between his mother and his father. It’s Tyler attempted to put himself in his fathers shoes and understand/accept why he was absent it his life
See now I gotta relisten to it damn
This is the most strong 6 review an 8 has ever gotten
Yeah I understand some of the criticisms on Judge Judy, I think the delivery at times was a little weird, but the contrasting tones of the instrumentals and the lyrics sort of brings you in more and by the end when the last verse hits, at least for me I kind of just sat with it and the emotions really hit, the love and loss and fear and regrets but also the moving on was a really interesting tone from him.
mmmm i dunno man its kinda giving main character syndrome
i get this score. i wanna let it simmer but its my fav tyler album as of rn. like him made me cry. no tyler song has made me cry before
This is my new favorite Tyler The Creator album. I think he combined all the sounds from his past 3 albums together into one project, and it’s a total masterpiece. I even like it better than Igor.
smile pfp lets go
how you have the worst music taste
Thumbs up for a comment about the music
Maybe in his top 3 albums but ain't no way it's better than Igor.
@@jadrscroblox player=no opinion. Go watch skibidi toilet
I feel like this album is a strong 9 and will grow in value even more over time, it’s really beautiful if you think about it.
can’t believe you gave it a 10 melon
With how critical he was on the first half of this album I was expecting like a 6 lol
If this album had main character syndrome you would’ve given it a 1
Go cry somewhere else.
he would've given it a 1 if st. chroma had a main character syndrome😭
Cry about it
