If you realized what the family court custody practices were no woman with a brain would ever marry a man again in this country or any other that had Colonial histories. If you have to battle a man in court that you were never married to? They can't coerce you into unbalanced, unfair and/or unsafe practices surrounding visitation or custody. But if you were married? They can strip you completely of visitation, parenting rights, and unlimited sums of money. You can lose your liberty indefinitely, and there's not a damn thing to do about it because you signed the BIRTH CERTIFICATE. It's a contract with the US Government.

You can love someone for 35 years. You can contribute to the finances that sustain the family. You can take care of them in their final days. Yet, out of spite he can ignore all the love, sacrifice, and investment, of 35 years, and cut you off from all financial support including your own contributions. This really has me questioning the character of this man. This level of spite didn’t just materialize. She was probably mistreated often.

Financial Abuse is very real. In fact in almost all situations where there is Domestic Abuse, Domestic Violence and Narcissistic Abuse, Financial Abuse constitutes just one of the many forms of abuse that is inflicted. It can be inflicted by both men and women, but it's usually inflicted mostly against women.
Women of Paulina's era were expected to conform to different social norms, but thank goodness for decades now women are becoming more and more financially responsible and independent, but never the less, this form of spousal abuse still goes on.

After all, you are paying taxes on that money, so you should be able to invest it or spend it. But this is something you and your spouse need to discuss BEFORE you get married. Before you take your vows, sit down with a financial manager--even if it's at your bank. It never hurts to be prepared, especially when it comes to money. I pray that she wins this battle. The chicks are still hot for him only to matte while he's still the strongest and smartest and still on top.
A fit man well featured man will still have bullets, not blanks in the chamber able to germinated a much younger still ripe/fertile flowers. Women are not fertile anymore as soon as their mid fourties to a few years later. The sexual attractivrnesd window for females is quite short compared to males. That's all nature, and how the human brain is programmed for reproduction. After mid 30's, or children a woman is not a sweet piece of fresh ripe fruit. Sexy.. It would not be in a young woman’s best interest to mate with an older man with decreased fertility. The vast majority of young women want a partner roughly their own age. I remember flipping through the channels one day and I stopped on Suze Orman's program about financials. She was taking questions from the audience. This was maybe 20 years ago, and I am positive that her advice would still be the same today. Someone asked, "When you get married, should you create one account by combining your money?" She said, "NO! There should 3 accounts. You should have your own account, his account and a joint account. The joint account, you guys figure out how much each puts in per paycheck and from here, pay the main bills". I am sure people divorcing 20yrs ago and suddenly becoming single in their mature years has not changed. And the statistics remain the same today. By having your own account and money, you will not be financially lost.

If your sons are not stepping up to the plate and taking care of you then you have lousy sons. My suggestion to you is put your pride aside and let your son's do what they're supposed to do and take care of you. Before my parents passed away I took care of my mom and dad because that's what I was supposed to do as a daughter. I would never let my mother or father beg or borrow from anybody as long as I had it. Whatever my parents needed I was there for them and proud to do it.

They should be able to go back and track her earnings as well and certainly attain some wealth there also, the divorce was not finalized and what are the state laws of their lives as far as division of marital assets! A lot to be discussing with her lawyers! What about money from the sale of their home recently sold! Did she get that money! As for her children, please, do not rely on them! Money is money and people are people! Blood relations do not always count! I know this first hand!

Paulina was his last wife. She was with him the longest. I just can’t believe he treated her so badly at the end. I think he was a complicated and a difficult guy to live with. * Usually people who never accept blame/responsibility for anything or apologize for their own mistakes

      * People who have serious addictions (smoking/drinking/gambling/lying/promiscous etc) as it shows a lack of self-control and boundaries
      * People who constantly drag you down (make you feel drained/anxious/angry/upset)
      * People who try to lower your own standards/question your morality & ethics
      * People who ask a lot of you but disappear whenever you need anything
      * People who have bad relationships with everyone in their life (parents, exes, etc)
      * People who are OTT/superficial/self-obsessed as they lack any real substance or character and are fair-weather friends
      * "Actions speak louder than words". A lot of people promise a lot but don't back it up with actions when reality hits
      * People who can't handle seeing you when you are down, they only want the A+ version of you. A lot of my friends ghosted me after my life went down the 🚽 as they only wanted "fun me" and couldn't handle drama or serious problems

Obviously, more importantly, the matter at hand of Rick leaving her out of his will truly speaks to the immaturity of people when they are hurt/angry. How painful that must have been to find out especially when SHE was the one caring for him in his last days! I have always seem Paulina as a down to earth beautiful woman! Back in the day when she was a top supermodel I remember thinking how absolutely gorgeous she was ( and IS ) but when I first saw her interviewed way back then I saw that she appeared to be just as beautiful on the inside & always wondered, in my shallow brain at the time - what was it about Ric Ocasek that drew her to him - cuz it certainly wasn't his looks. When I got older and a bit wiser and I saw that their relationship had lasted - I knew it was obviously much deeper for them to have been together for such a long time - especially in their world - it just proved to me even more what a genuine person she was that even at such a young age she saw beyond what he looked like! I wish her and her children well ♥
