I have no idea, but the rant at around 17:32 feels so asinine, ridiculous, and "missing the point" that I actually do need to make this comment. I kinda feel that maybe you missed the point on the upgrade things. There is a reason why it's said "homologation" and not "limitation". I think FM7 tries to lean into actual racing where each division have its own restriction on power, weight, and even type of setups that you can do. I feel the game also leans quite heavily on you learning how to tune, which is something I get even in Horizon sometime. You can't just slap upgrades randomly and expect it to work. You see this in real life racings where each class have its own restriction and set ups (i.e Super GT GT500 and GT300). And, Eden, I think your analogy falls apart because... most RPG and FPS games do actually restrict you with some guns/weapons/skill until a certain level. CoD has been doing this for a long time where you will unlock new weapons (and skills, in the older CoD) as you level up and restrict you to a limited set of guns, attachment, and skills to use. RPGs do this a lot where you are given limited slot of upgrades on your equipment (and character skills) until you hit a certain level. Like... this kind of feature existed for a LONG long time in gaming sphere. The analogy feels asinine and breaks apart *unless* you never play games, ever. Maybe it's just me reading between the line but that rant felt so out of place and feel like it isn't from someone who actually plays game. I understand that maybe you only play racing games but that whole damn rant, outside the Pokemon one, just didn't hit right. I do agree tho. Maybe if you can turn it off the "homologation" thing and have players choose between "Play as casual", where you can upgrade the car whichever way you want as long as it hits the maximum level, and "Play like a pro", where you do need to also follow the rules of the homologation classes and actually think about tuning and upgrades. Making it like CRPG games where you can play "Hardcore" or "Just for the story". As someone who actually started playing Forza from FM7, I feel if it has you (the player) choose between "Hardcore" and "Casual", your rant here won't exist.
Yep. Homologation actually aims to make things more interesting so people don't just run around with a bone shaker type car. This sort of thing happens in real life for good reason
You last remark is exactly how I feel about the series. The older Forza games had character and soul, these new ones are absurdly designed and just aren't enjoyable at all.
@@speedyblacksheriff when it comes to Forza I definitely do prefer (the older) horizon games, I usually play actually sims nowadays though, since wheels don't work incredibly well with any Forza game

FM7 flopped so hard because they paid no attention to the audio, both in quality or accuracy. Listen to the coil whine, 5th gear is just broken and personally really irritates me, and was given some BS responce from Turn 10 as to why they wouldn't fix it
Tbh I will always defend the class restriction system in this game. Yes, i know that its confusing to people at First, but this mode made for some of the closest and most competitve online races i ever had in any online game. Those restrictions allowed for certains cars to have their specific strenghts and weaknesses to shine a lot more in a competitive spectrum. Also, the class restrictions dont block the player from building their cars to the classes they like as both in the campaign and on online lobbies there are options for "Open Class" races where you can race in any class you built your car to.
Agreed the whole point is cause it’s similar to real life. If you’re trying to be in a certain “class” of cars, I.e Miata spec or street class, there are max restrictions, not necessarily restrictions of choice. I think the game just didn’t have a good way of explaining that or Dustin didn’t get it 💀
Yeah, no. As someone who liked keeping all his cars completely stock, this system ruined the game for me. Upgrading is always a nice option to have, but it should never be compulsory.
@@wyattmunger5529 I agree that restrictions usually make things worse off for players, especially since it’s a game and it’s a more casual audience versus iracing or assetto corsa, but to have some grounding in “sim style racing”, to make it simulation means to mimic real life. There are restrictions in real life in order to fill certain race criteria. You don’t take a 1000 hp drag spec muscle car with drag slicks to a time attack race that’s muscle car inspired simply because they’re muscle cars. They’re built to certain specs, so races are balanced and give all racers a fighting chance. Again, this is quite boring for casual players and I don’t think this is the best way to go about it but it’s just reflecting how it is in real life
@@TheJacintoEffect Hate to break it to you, but Motorsport is simcade. Leaning more towards Sim than Horizon, yes, but simcade nevertheless. Motorsport is and never will be an out-and-out simulator. No need for everything minute detail to be one-to-one with reality.

Forza 7 missed the mark by trying to appeal to a more hardcore audience, so maybe in future series, having these types of restrictions can be placed in another category that’s not mandatory and able to be enjoyed by those who want a more sim like experience As if I didn’t know this game was simcade💀 I race in real life lol
Not getting any XP after a match unless you do something specific, nah, no game would be dumb enough to be like that, right? RIGHT?! Payday 3: "Hold my beer"
Im thankful for that editors note on the race length because my first thought when he said that was "... Why wouldn't you?" Lol. And FM7 is overall just kinda decent at best. But as of right now its the only sim-cade, car collection, track racing game on PC. Here's hoping the reboot turns out good.
In regards to the rant you had about customization and the PI system: dont be surprised, but pokemon actually works very close to how you said, and was expanded upon in scarlet and violet. In the games before scarlet and violet, traded pokemon would not obey ur commands if they reached higher than a certain level until you acquired more gym badges. This was expanded to be any pokemon, not just traded ones, in scarlet and violet. It was slightly more harsh in scarlet and violet as well, as it seemed to work in 10-20 level increments, rather than the standard lv30, lv50, lv70 and lv100 in the previous generations.
I absolutely hated having a big inclusion of purpose-built Off-roaders and stuff like 4x4's/SUVs and then even having some as paid DLC. I have absolutely no issue with games that cater towards an off-road experience and it's one of my favourite parts of Horizon but I have never seen anyone who enjoyed driving Buggies and Baja Trucks around normal race tracks in this game. Especially since some of these are forced as part of the Campaign if you want all the Cup Completion Rewards so you can't even skip them. If there were atleast Rallycross Tracks that had some Off-road parts then I wouldn't mind as much but driving a Penhall Cholla around Brand's Hatch and the like is just a frustratingly bad experience. Even for stuff like Trophy Trucks they could've put some ramps and the like on the track to atleast be close to something like the Super Trucks that race at Long Beach irl but nope. In general the game is Quality
This game is a lot more significant for PC since its pretty much the, currently only big ass car collector. No GT's or Forza's before this, behind Apex which is really just Turn 10 testing how the games would work, and Horizon games only having a smaller set of cars. Like yes now we can emulate all the other games with not even that much difficulty but for official games it is pretty decent.
5 thousand hours spent. 4 thousand roughly were spent on a thrustmaster TMX pro with t3pa pedals and th8a shifter. Was a very fun ride before my wheel basically set itself on fire lol
Forzs Motorsport 2 will always be my favorite as far as I'm concerned on the game itself. Forza Motorsport 1 still just holds a special place in my heart though.
I only played this game way after the controversies about it blew over, and found it to be a decent time. Not amazing, but the on-track experience for the single player career was good. Not a fan of how it forces such limitations on car upgrades though. But the actual driving feel is easily the best of the XB1 entries. I did mess around with the race length thing, and I think it's a potentially good feature that they didn't do a good job with. The standard race length is pretty short, it would be nice to have something a bit longer. But the next level up basically triples race length, it's way too much. Somewhere around the range of 150-200% the length would have been good, leave the triple for a higher setting. I actually don't mind the garage soundtrack for this game. Don't care for the race stuff, but the menu music feels like it's calling back to FM1 a bit. The career menu music in that game was great, genuinely really underrated.
This is like the only game I've consistently played a ton that I absolutely hate like as a person who did a lot of NASCAR league racing I hate how glitchy this game is and how dumb the physics are and just how overall badly it's put together outside of graphics it's just not a great game
FM7 was ok, I hated the tire restrictions. As realistic as it may be, this at the end of the day is a simcade. If I wanted to play a sim, I'd just get Assetto, PCars 2/1 or even iRacing and self impose my own tire restrictions
I think the main improvement for fm7 vs fm6 is for casual racers. Specifically, “Friction Assist”. Basically, if you like corner cutting in career races, then it on. Also, it’s an absolute must if you wanna win the Endurance races.
I used to play with medium race length as it would allow me to set difficulties higher than I would for a 3 lap race and enjoy the feeling of chasing cars down and overtaking them over multiple laps, as forza ai goes dumb after you overtake them.
So I didn’t mind for a Motorsport 7, it was not close to my favorite format game but overall the driving in it was pretty good. I would choose what track I wanted to drive and upgrade my car how I wanted instead of playing the campaign. I think forza has such a high bar from its community that any new features need to either be absolutely perfect or they are hated
Yeah I'm actually glad I didn't buy FM8 and instead bought FM7 on ebay just over a week ago, FM8 career and upgrade system looks horrid and that's all I play on these games.
8:10 damage affecting the vehicle performance is still why GRID 1 is my favorite racing game to this day, I wish there was a list of all racing games where damage is more than just cosmetic.
@@razer4599 it's definitely nowhere near something like Project Cars though, where you could damage basically every conceivable part of a car by driving it poorly.
I picked up forza horizon 4 a couple days ago, the last "racing/car based" game was need for speed hot pursuit on xbox 360. The AI sometimes gets a secret Forza Military nitros that takes any vehicle and improves every aspect. Also shoutout to the Peel P50 for being funny
I somehow managed to put 1700 hours into FM7 (combined from PC and XBOX) and honestly the only reason why I played so much of it is because there's no alternative for XBOX that really holds up. The whole xbox one generation of racing games has been a disappointment for me apart from FM7 which is decent.
Don't forget the credit grind. My god, the credit grind in this game was completely abysmal. And the soundtrack is indeed a pile of horse crap. Basic, soulless, repetitive...
I miss the tracks on forza motorsport 1 they were really original. My favorite being that one map in tokyo with that long tunnel and really sharp left turn. They gotta bring that back
10:40 That's something i'd do because usually games just drowns you with money, and i like knowing that if i mess up, i can't afford to fix the car, therefore will drive it all fucked up. And not having lots of cash forces me to make sensible decisions with cars and/or upgrades.
6:48 It's stuff like this editor's note which really makes me hate sim racing, both the community and their games. Imagine a new arcade racer comes out but you have to do 20 - 30 laps each race. See how many people would play that. Anyway, i probably would've tried FM7 for myself if i still could, but i hope the new one is a lot better.
The simulation steering was touchy in an odd way. The loot boxes were annoying. The booming sounds in the menus got fatiguing after a while. I wasn't able to race multiple laps on nurburgring against A.I. in a private lobby anymore. I recall having to level up to unlock cars for purchase as well. That made it tediously unrewarding. That's a shame, because the weather characteristics were GREAT!
I hated what they did to car tuning in fm7.. I know that some people like it for the "added realism" but I don't give a rats ass about realism when all it does is make the game worse for the 99% who play it for FUN. If there was an option to turn it all off and on (off by default 100%) then I wouldn't have had any issues with it. But as it stands, there's no point in upgrading cars for your "career" as you can't use tuned cars for anything but single races in free play. Hope the new game does better in this regard
I remember buying the ultimate edition of this when it was on sale. Claimed all the stuff that came with it and after 25 minutes I got around a million credits from various rewards the game gave you. Shortly after a message pops up saying I was banned for credit hacking, and there was nothing they can do. They refused to work with me further and I haven’t played the game since (Was an xbox user at the time, so hacking isn’t possible)
I bought this game day one and it's been a ok game, yes the sound track is absolute garbage but I think what's worse is probably every rear engine Porsche suspension setup is horrid, still has many fond memories of this game but God it still needs improvement Also if you didn't know some cars are broken like the R8 racing car, it's front downforce was NEVER fixed from day one til it's end its setting never got patched

9:41 I actually really like that feature. The way the HUD interacts with the gameplay is really cool. Many NFS games do this. The Shift games, Heat, Carbon, i think Rivals had it too
It really isn’t people who say that are blinded by nostalgia FM5 was bad for a reason it was made for the next generation of consoles back then so the devs focused on the graphics FM6 was a better version of FM5 and even had 3 expansions and IMO I think it’s one of the best in the series and FM7 is just fun to play

17:42 Such a Pokémon game exists. It's not an official game and instead a mod made by fans, but it's extremely challenging due to that, since it makes sure that you don't have a higher level than the next gym leader. It's called PokeMMO. Oh, yeah, there's also a shooter which restricts which parts you use through a level: Battlefield 2042. Basically, your weapon has a level and through leveling it up you unlock the attachments. At the beginning you have none, you unlock the first one half way through level 0.
I liked Forza 6 more but Forza 7 was alright. I think single player was solid tho. Hope forza 8 is good and has good career mode. I got too much to play so didnt buy early access lol
I’m so good with this game that I play in the hardest difficulty “unbeatable” and with the all driver aids off except “abs” and I play with the transmission in “manual with clutch” yet I still beat the cpu all the time! But it still fun as hell for me…
I actually really enjoyed this game for a time. Of course you rate it based on the singleplayer aspect which i get. But just hopping into like an online track day event with a normal, slightly tuned car or an old f1 car trying to set good laps and avoiding slower/faster cars was truly something fun and chill every now and then. But even those sessions were kinda ruined by kids driving the modern f1 car into everyone. In terms of the suits, i would say those were pretty useless but once you have like 90% of the cars in the game, those things became at least for me a thing to collect even tho no one ever saw them aside from me. But hey everyone has their own opinion on games like the forza franchise and that i respect.
The entire point of homologation is to more or less stop you just abusing meta cars. This is done in real life to keep things interesting. That rant came off hella ignorant
Is it worth it to buy a 360 just to play the old forzas? I have a one s, but I really wanna try the older versions, cause I only played the last 3 of the series
Ask yourself this: are there four other games that aren’t Forza Motorsport I want to play on the 360? If the answer is yes, go for it If the answer is no, emulate if possible. I know Xenia needs a beefy PC and Xemu is finicky
I had a pretty mid time with this game back when it came out. It was and still is the only Motorsport game i've ever played, and the impression i got wasn't great. Driving is very different from Horizon, but i tried not comparing it to it. Too heavy and unresponsive were my main thoughts about it. The homologation system sucked all the fun out of tuning cars for me. So i just bought cars, applied the homologated parts on them (and was absolutely appalled when a few cars i wanted to use got downgraded to fit restrictions, mainly in the form of power restrictors) and did the races. Progression was nice, i liked it. The AI however, i didn't. Much like i still hate it in Horizon titles. Drivatar needs to go in favour of actual AIs that actually are racing rather than trying to pit maneuver you every corner because the supposed player they're modeled after does it to other AIs. That was a very rage inducing part of my experience. Online mode at the time was awful, not a lot of racing types, an awfully small set of races that would repeat over and over... so once i completed the career 100%, i just never played the game again. It got better with updates, but by the time things changed, i'd moved on. Think it took me about a month to fully complete it and then that was it.
Lol, this guy is gonna love the new forza motorsport. They don't only dictate what races you play, they also dictate what upgrades you choose for your car xD Can't wait for everyone to have the exact same crap experience.
I played the hell out of this game and its the only motorsport game i ever played, only played GT before. Always loved the freedom to build your own cars for online races which this game is the best at but it i agree it was unfinished. Got tired of a lot of the crappy tracks and no new ones being added plus the voting system was broken. slipstreaming was also non existent like why??

I mean, the upgrade system is realistic, irl race classes are limited by power too, and sometimes tire width as well
I dont want more realism if I have to sacrifice fun to get it
@@johnxina2140then Motorsport might not be for you, maybe stick to horizon?
@@johnxina2140 I guess that shows sim arcades aren't suited best to you
@@speedyblacksheriff when it comes to Forza I definitely do prefer (the older) horizon games, I usually play actually sims nowadays though, since wheels don't work incredibly well with any Forza game
This ironically is to keep real life racing itself fun. People just want to do what they want at the cost of the game 😅
OMG! I created that livery for that civic! I don’t know you as a creator but it caught me by surprise to see my work in the video! Thank you for downloading it and I hope you enjoyed it! You’ve earned a subscriber!
FM7 flopped so hard because they paid no attention to the audio, both in quality or accuracy. Listen to the coil whine, 5th gear is just broken and personally really irritates me, and was given some BS responce from Turn 10 as to why they wouldn't fix it
The music too. The music sucks
@@wyattmunger5529 look im with you man, this game isn’t great, not but a long shot, and Microsoft got it wrong with trying to appeal to a different audience. I’m not justifying their actions, quite the opposite as I’ve been a fan of both GT and forza since the first of both and I’ve seen the ups and downs of either series.
Forza 7 missed the mark by trying to appeal to a more hardcore audience, so maybe in future series, having these types of restrictions can be placed in another category that’s not mandatory and able to be enjoyed by those who want a more sim like experience
As if I didn’t know this game was simcade💀 I race in real life lol
Back when we didn‘t know about FM8…
Not getting any XP after a match unless you do something specific, nah, no game would be dumb enough to be like that, right? RIGHT?!
Payday 3: "Hold my beer"
FM5 Was by far the most controversial, same w/ FH5.
Fm8 is seeming to be more controversial some how
@@almightysamwhich4203 Well. Now we know. FM8 is worse than 5 for being basically 5 but worse in every way.
17:41 is lterally pokemon nuzlockes 💀
Like yes now we can emulate all the other games with not even that much difficulty but for official games it is pretty decent.
no we can't emulate all the other games, not at all
when you get any Xbox One game emulated on PC you let me know, people are gonna go wild over it
I still love to play this game, funny enough I never played the single player campaign, i only play free for all…..
5 thousand hours spent. 4 thousand roughly were spent on a thrustmaster TMX pro with t3pa pedals and th8a shifter. Was a very fun ride before my wheel basically set itself on fire lol
FM7 was a trainwreck at launch. It got better over the years so it's pretty much okay now
Forzs Motorsport 2 will always be my favorite as far as I'm concerned on the game itself.
I honestly don’t understand the fm7 soundtrack slander
This is like the only game I've consistently played a ton that I absolutely hate
like as a person who did a lot of NASCAR league racing I hate how glitchy this game is and how dumb the physics are and just how overall badly it's put together outside of graphics
it's just not a great game
I miss the good old racing game days. Maybe I'm just biased, but tbh I don't care
The weird thing is, despite all the stupid mechanics and repetition, I still really liked this game in its own kinda way
17:50 bro just casually described a hardcore nuzlocke
The fact they’ve put a XY GTHO Phase 3 as “common” is reason enough not to play this game
If you like the upgrades system on this game, youll love the new forza Motorsport 🤣🤣
Simulation mode exists?
Generally OEM doesn’t allow major damage features when they give license. It is a marketing thing I guess..
@@razer4599 it's definitely nowhere near something like Project Cars though, where you could damage basically every conceivable part of a car by driving it poorly.
Respect to eden for using an aussie car when the bathurst 1000 is this week (i know it had nothing to do with his decision but still)
tbh i actually did like fm7 a lot and feel like it did get slept on but that could also just be because i was doing stupid shit with my friends
25:19 Having never played Motorsport 7, and having heard the soundtrack in the video, this sounds like a song that would play in the game
"Why would you want the races to be longer?"
Becuase 3 laps around Silverstone isnt exactly much of a race.
Are you gonna play Forza Horizon 2 Xbox One version
They gotta bring that back
Having more point to point races too is cool.
I really miss New York (long) from FM1...
@@GRIMEYtheFATMAN yeah!!!! See they should bring those back
One thing i hate about the graphics of fm7 is the skybox being dark and doesn't look bright at all. Serious it's was depression, it's boring, dull
17:43 PokéMMO description.
Bro the kendrick lamar's album hits hard 😂
6:52 Your editor is spot on
10:40 That's something i'd do because usually games just drowns you with money, and i like knowing that if i mess up, i can't afford to fix the car, therefore will drive it all fucked up. And not having lots of cash forces me to make sensible decisions with cars and/or upgrades.
2:13 Split/Second dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4:20 now I want a Forza game that takes place during an apocalypse like MotorStorm Apocalypse. A simcade racer taking place any fallen City or world
The simulation steering was touchy in an odd way.
Fun Fact: The Porsche One Lap Magic is nearly impossible on the easiest difficulty and the Nissan one is legitimately impossible on easiest
how?
I bought this game day one and it's been a ok game, yes the sound track is absolute garbage but I think what's worse is probably every rear engine Porsche suspension setup is horrid, still has many fond memories of this game but God it still needs improvement
Also if you didn't know some cars are broken like the R8 racing car, it's front downforce was NEVER fixed from day one til it's end its setting never got patched
fun fact: this forza has the highest number of racing points championships even more than gt 4...
my forza ranking is: fm4 > fm3 > fm2 > fm7 > fm6 > fm5. (i know there is fm1 but so old that forget it kkkkkkkkk)
To me would be Fm4 >FM7=FM3 > FM1 > FM6 > FM2 > FM5
12:51 INCORRECT! This may sound incredibly stupid and god knows it is, but as soon as I heard that music I got a wave of nostalgia
Pokemon Black and White actually did restrict how much exp you received to prevent over leveling. That feature wasn't seen after those games.
18:00:
Shinyodd 😳
I wonder what fell off harder Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo
Both fell off hard, at this point you honestly would just replay old racing games. New racing games just feel... soulless.
More like crashed into a brick wall while going 200 km/h
Forza fell first but then Gran Turismo fell second
NFS... sadly
Forza Horizon.....
9:41 I actually really like that feature. The way the HUD interacts with the gameplay is really cool. Many NFS games do this. The Shift games, Heat, Carbon, i think Rivals had it too
best thing about FM7, the track list.
Dawg was watching Breaking Good if thats the music he remembers
It's funny I didn't even know this game actually HAD music for the most part. I must have turned it off years ago and forgot that I did so!
To think that forza 4 is the last good entry really makes me sad about the series future
@@TimmyLittle-hy5mb - Agreed. I think 4 is still the goat and I still play it a lot to this day, but I also play 7 a lot too. I just wish 7 had the audio of 4.
He just described how Pokemon scaling worked in Sword and Shield and acted befuddled lmao
FM7 in its final state on PC at 4k is kinda incredible (barring the rubbery ffb). Sucks you have to wait for games to get good now. *cough cough* (GT7, GT Sport, cyberpunk, etc)
Every battlefield has been this way too, every cod has been this way, this guy just doesn’t play games clearly
But it still fun as hell for me…
When was there a rating box like a mobile game?
Dustin are you gonna release the GT4 randomizer 100% complete stream on RUclips?
I actually really enjoyed this game for a time. Of course you rate it based on the singleplayer aspect which i get. But just hopping into like an online track day event with a normal, slightly tuned car or an old f1 car trying to set good laps and avoiding slower/faster cars was truly something fun and chill every now and then. But even those sessions were kinda ruined by kids driving the modern f1 car into everyone.
In terms of the suits, i would say those were pretty useless but once you have like 90% of the cars in the game, those things became at least for me a thing to collect even tho no one ever saw them aside from me.
But hey everyone has their own opinion on games like the forza franchise and that i respect.
rewatching this for fun and seeing the Dynamic Soundtrack part and i just think of the first GRID game.
that game did it perfectly, i love it.
The entire point of homologation is to more or less stop you just abusing meta cars. This is done in real life to keep things interesting. That rant came off hella ignorant
FM7 had a lot of bugs and crashed so much for me. Hated it.
17:51 dont show him any difficulty ROM hacks lmao
Now watch FM9 having NFS Most Wanted '05 visual damage and FM10 not having visual damage at all
Not as bad as 5, but still pretty boring. Hope 8 is better than 7 for sure.
The new forza motorsport isn't very good so far
Not to mention if you didnt own it when it got removed from the store you can no longer obtain it!!
Is it worth it to buy a 360 just to play the old forzas? I have a one s, but I really wanna try the older versions, cause I only played the last 3 of the series
Ask yourself this: are there four other games that aren’t Forza Motorsport I want to play on the 360?
If the answer is yes, go for it
If the answer is no, emulate if possible. I know Xenia needs a beefy PC and Xemu is finicky
it's kinda crazy just how awful this game was at launch, to truly understand why it was so hated you just had to be there
I had a pretty mid time with this game back when it came out.
Think it took me about a month to fully complete it and then that was it.
i FM5 love cause oversteer actually exists and is something you have to be careful with, every game after the cars feel like they have angle kits
18:00 that is literally how Call of Duty works though lol
Lol, this guy is gonna love the new forza motorsport. They don't only dictate what races you play, they also dictate what upgrades you choose for your car xD
Can't wait for everyone to have the exact same crap experience.
19:06 Cahsin! lets go bowling
