since the age of 17 when i was gifted the Buckingham Nicks album, my first glimpse of Stevie, this is reminiscent of the impact she had on me and still does. after attending over 100 concerts, countless albums & tapes, mesmerized i remain at the age of 50. when Lindsey sat on stage steps, the highlight had arrived. via "Landslide"...(sang thru tears, eye contact, avoidance, etc.) told all. we became a part of their ever-changing connection. they let us into a special place...their hearts. peace
agreed. She has the most beautiful unique soulful voice. I think she dedicates this song to her father most of the time. Its truly one of my favorite songs ever.
I just wanted to clear something up -- this was written by Stevie for her father when he was in the hospital. She stated in several interviews that she wrote Landslide while in the hospital waiting room. In a live performance when her father was in the audience, Stevie said, "This is for you Daddy."
Every time I think that Stevie Nicks can't blow me away any further, then I see a performance like this and I am.... blown away again. Love you always SN.
Wish you could have seen her in '77 in Munich when she forgot the words and Lindsay looked like he wanted to kill her! She actually stopped the song and laughed about it!
Fran
Nice explanation for the song. But I've heard Stevie give a different version. After the Buckinham/Nicks album failed Lindsey took a job travelling and playing with another band for 6weeks and she stayed in Aspen Colorado with some friends. Her parents were trying to talk her in to leaving Lindsey and going back home to return to college. She spent the 6weeks Lindsey was awaay, re-evaluating the working and romantic relationship. While watching a snow storm she wrote the song on the guitar
Tone Deaf? Are you crazy? She has the best ear in the industry. She hits every note right on the mark. Turn up your speakers and give it a listen one more time....it's perfect...every note.
Cool footage. It sounds kind of..off here compared to her singing it later. I learned of Nicks after hearing through some Smashing Pumpkins songs and came upon their cover of Landslide. It's pretty cool. I think I might sing it for my concert.
@weatherednboston the prob when people make those kind of observations is that they cannot understand that she MADE IT THAT WAY ON PURPOSE. you are correct, the has one of the best ears in the industry to this day. Stevie only has critics because they cant do what she does.....create magic with her voice. :)
Lindsey had taught her to play...and she decided to place her faith in Lindsey and their partnership and continue in which ever direction he wanted to go. It wasn't long after this that Lindsey got the offer to join Fleetwood Mac and he said she was part of the package. The rest is history
No she didn't write it in the hospital waiting room. She was in Aspen and wrote it the day before his Mayo surgery that was done in Mayo in Minnesota. She claims to have written it in about 5 minutes.
That reminds me of going to see Queen w/Lambert singing (I really only cared about Brian and Roger anyway) and these two young girls behind me kept saying to give it a rest; why do they keep showing pictures of the old singer, he;s dead....there were no words I could even say to that.......
I have read the above explanation but as I said in my comment I've heard a different version from Stevie's OWN LIPS. So the FACTS are all subjective when Stevie gives different accounts. Do a search of her interviews on YT you'll hear a different version yourself. OR do a search on her interviews and you'll read a different version. One of the reasons her father always believed the song is about him is because as I mentioned he called her while in Aspen to come home and go back to school
@weatherednboston I haven't seen what comment you're referring to you, but the first thing I noticed was that she was out of tune hear. Even the best of performers have bad days. She sounds exhausted.
@Pinkdraak Definitely not towards the 80s! Lindsey had a beard and longer hair until 1978, then he cut his hair shorter and started shaving. He's seen here with a beard. Stevie did her hair like that quite a few times throughout the 70s.
Stevie and Lindsay were in Aspen, Colorado together. They had a disagreement and Lindsay left her there. Driving down the snow covered mountains. Left Stevie stranded. Click above on "Show More" it will tell you all the facts.
@cuvideos Perhaps in some way it is for her dad, because he offered to pay for going to college, so she could have a real career, during this time while she and L. were very poor.
Her daddy was the VP of Greyhound or something; he was a bigwig; I'm sure the 2 of them never "starved"; Daddy wouldn't let that happen to his little girl. My parents were poor but when I was on the road my Dad would always slip something in the envelope...
snow covered hills was her cocaine days and she is actually singing to her father she loved the most..and she is singing about growing up with drugs and life,
Yup Lindsey is an amazing musician but he"s a bit on the snobbish side. U have to remember this band had alot of drama. With 4 ppl dating eachother. Hey' it made for some great song writing yes? I love when Stevie joined the band. That voice could be recognized in an instant note....
This looks more like something from around 1980 or so, at the beginning of Nicks going solo. The hairstyle is not 1977, and the lazy, worn way she is phrasing sounds much more initial solo career.
I like this song. Please accept Jesus as your personal savior by repenting from your own sins, converting into His name, and being saved by grace, as a God's free gift to you my friend. Be a newborn christian (2 Corinthians 5.17). Read also John 3.16, Ephesians 2.8-10, and 1 Timothy 2.5. God bless you
What I enjoy about Stevie Nicks is that she is often out of tune (I've only found one version I enjoy more by southernfolkrocr). For instance, I can't imagine enjoying a version of this by celine dion.

I love her "young voice". I love her mature voice too! I just love her.
Wow...Cant' beleive that this kind of footage is not lost
Loved this in 1977. Still relevant today. Music is timeless.
Sharon Terry indeed

Hey internet stranger I hope you are well.
A chill runs up my spine every time she asks "Can I handle the changes of my life?" I essentially ask that question all the time.
Stevie Nicks, is an awesome singer and songwriter 🎉🎉. She moves people through her music 🎶 🎵 creating memories and good times 🎉🎉
agreed. She has the most beautiful unique soulful voice. I think she dedicates this song to her father most of the time. Its truly one of my favorite songs ever.
No Matter What Her Age, Stevie's Voice is Always Magnificent!!!!!!!!!
I agree stevie's early voice has a raw power to it, its so beautiful. i love the youth and energy in it.
Just gotta have me some Stevie every now & again...IMHO, one of the most talented songwriters/vocalists.
🌹I have loved this song my whole life.👏🏻This was always the way it was meant to be🎤🎸performed,🧙🏻I believe.

Best live rendition of this song, ever. Thanks for posting!
Amazing version.
Amazing voice when she was younger and even now is unreal
Every time I think that Stevie Nicks can't blow me away any further, then I see a performance like this and I am....

I wish I had seen FM live back then. They were the most awesome band.
They still are.

She talks about it in an interview for Oprah Winfrey's network
bring tears to my eyes
Back in those days she usually dedicated this song to whatever town they were playing in.
This song is awesome.Could make a drill sargent cry
That voice ...........
so long south park, it was a great ride :(
this is like the best version I've ever heard! Before smoking damaged her voice.
never going back again!!!! grtst fltwmc song .....

@weatherednboston . . . I sure miss 1977!

wtf, is her monitor turned off?
Ditto. Heard Kids complaining years ago that some band named the Beatles had copied a Guns and Roses song LIVE AND LET DIE. wtf?
That reminds me of going to see Queen w/Lambert singing (I really only cared about Brian and Roger anyway) and these two young girls behind me kept saying to give it a rest; why do they keep showing pictures of the old singer, he;s dead....there were no words I could even say to that.......
Sounds in tune to me. The girls back then didn't have the machines that correct the pitch like they do now.
I'd love to shoot whoever invented "autotune!"
What is this documentary at the end?
I'm freezing right now
stevie has the most eternally youthful voice, it is sex & vigour, in vocal form
its on the Edge of seventeen

@guitarjunkieVRON I prefer it in Stevie's older days. Her voice is much robust.
@amberrduncan everything about Stevie is mAGICAL!
@weatherednboston

this is for her dad
She wrote thsi song when he was on tour and she was left behind before they joined fleetwood mac
Stevie and Lindsay were in Aspen, Colorado together. They had a disagreement and Lindsay left her there. Driving down the snow covered mountains. Left Stevie stranded. Click above on "Show More" it will tell you all the facts.
Japan 77 concert footage, then documentary footage

Lol!!! Hahaha
snow covered hills was her cocaine days and she is actually singing to her father she loved the most..and she is singing about growing up with drugs and life,
Actually, she wrote this in late 1974, just before Fleetwood Mac asked Lindsey to join the band. Stevie was not doing any kind of drugs at the time.
Hey! what do you guys think of the people that think the Dixie Chicks wrote this song! It makes me fucking furious!
just in a differant key than the studio...
Yup Lindsey is an amazing musician but he"s a bit on the snobbish side. U have to remember this band had alot of drama. With 4 ppl dating eachother. Hey' it made for some great song writing yes? I love when Stevie joined the band. That voice could be recognized in an instant note....
i hardly recognize her here XD
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

its not even about lindsey buckingham.
lol
Disgusted by the person that says miley Cyrus sang it better eww
What I enjoy about Stevie Nicks is that she is often out of tune (I've only found one version I enjoy more by southernfolkrocr). For instance, I can't imagine enjoying a version of this by celine dion.
...and Celine beating her chest!
