I saw her on the Wild Heart tour 1983 at Meadowlands Arena in New Jersey. She had a full string section join her onstage for this song. You could hear a pin drop during this performance. She brought the house down!

I do even today. It reminds me of my wife and my story. She was definitely the beauty and I was the beast and was very lucky when she said yes. I was lucky to be have 18 years with her before she closed her eyes for the last time in May of 2021. Gone at 60. A widower at 57. She remained the beauty until her last second will forever be so.
This is the best live version ever. It features Roy Britton, the original piano player from the East Street Band. Stevie is overly emotional too. This tour was the first time she sung it live. You will never hear another version so well done.

And nobody I have ever asked has heard it...how could that be? search your souls and you will find something in your life, past or present, that connects you somehow with this amazingly poignant song. Thank you Stevie Nicks, and let's not leave out Fleetwood Mac, for all the years of beautiful, beautiful music. How could something so very sad be so very uplifting?

I turned 19 on 16/November I did not grow up in the height of Stevies career, I did not have the opportunity to drop everything to chase her concerts across the US like I would have done, had I been alive then.
I want to say, that I love you Stevie. You will never know me and I will never know you. If I had my entire life ahead of me, I would come to a show and try to smile at you, but unfortunately, I found out this morning that I have 2 more months, so I will find you in the next life. Love you stevie. My love died this year, we were not together and i found out through chance. He was in a dream, and i had to contact him, just had to. Wanted to be with him, make all the wrongs a right. He touched me inside more than anyone ive known. I had to contact him. Then i discovered he was gone..passed on two weeks before i dreamed of him. It cut me so deeply, and still does. He must have come to me after his passing , in a dream.
This song, it encapsulates everything i ever felt about him and still do. We had something special, and life kept throwing curve balls, but i know, deep within, he is my twin flame.

1besieged I had never seen the tear until I can across your comment. She certainly leaves her soul wide open to the masses. And I think she did find her “beast” in Joe Walsh. She’s stated that she would have changed her entire life if he’d asked her to. And he’s the only man she would have done that for. I think (contemporarily) she’s kinda accepted she’ll be single until she dies. It’s a lot to chew on.
