    decibels is NOT exponential. It is logarithmic. 10dBA = 2x perceived volume.

      Oh, I’ve always been taught that every +3dB is a x2 increase in power / volume.
      But I looked it up and you’re right for perceived volume.

    Good video, clear and concise! I have the first gen Framework purchased at the beginning of 2022. I bought the bare bones DIY version. I purchased 64 GB of their RAM and I added my own 1tb NVME SSD. I later swapped it with a two TB stick. I upgraded to the CNC lid and now I'm ready to do the speakers which I purchased but haven't installed. Just loaded Linux Mint 22 from 21.3 this afternoon and getting set up in that. I have a 2020 M1 MacBook Air to reference against it. The MBA might be a little slicker but other than that it's very limited compared to what I can do with the Framework. The 16" looks great but I can't justify it.

    Heh, I see that everyone uses the Crab Rave for their sound testing!

    Hoping the 80db is worth it because the speakers not only aren't loud, they sound bass heavy and muffled at the same time (didn't know that was possible). Plus, what do I even do with the old speakers? I put on my $300 headphones to listen to the comparison. It doesn't seem like it gets noticeably louder or clearer, but it cuts the bass just a bit. I think I might be stuck with just using headphones.

    The only thing that stops me from buying a Framework laptop are the downward facing speakers.

    are the new speakers standard on new orders or always an upgrade option?

  • @giomjava
    @giomjava 3 месяца назад +1

    Yes, but are there any BETTER speakers? Loud is one thing, the quality of sound is kind of ... bad :(

    Do these new speakers sound bad if compared to a Macbook Pro laptop?

      Absolutely. Apple is almost unmatched in how good their speakers are. But good luck swapping out a bad RAM stick on a MacBook! 😉

      listening to them right now id say they are worse than even an iphone's speakers@@ryguy9341

      I guarantee they sound just as bad as most laptop speakers.

    Have you tried using a software equalizer to try and tune the speakers more? Has anyone tried this?

    Really don’t get the point of the framework. It’s just a less repairable standard size laptop marked up in price

    • @Underground3
      @Underground3 Год назад +22

      It totally fine for you to not like what Framework is offering. But to stay it a less repairable standard size laptop is disingenuous at best.

    • @lordv1le859

      @@Underground3 that’s what it is? It’s actually less repairable than a MacBook because things like the ports are soldered to the board.

      @@lordv1le859 How is it less repairable then a MacBook? Most Apple products are use and throw from the a customer point of view and this is the exact opposite

    • @lordv1le859
      @lordv1le859 Год назад

      @@ArjunRavi you can buy any part of a MacBook directly from Apple to replace yourself. The more expensive items are actually cheaper to replace on a MacBook vs the framework

    • @ArjunRavi
      @ArjunRavi Год назад +4

      @@lordv1le859 I don't think so. For example an M1 air display seems to cost $350+ whereas the same for the framework is under 200 . Battery for the framework is 55-70 depending on the size . I seriously doubt that's the cost for the MacBook when an iphone battery cost the same. As for other components I don't think you can even replace them. Even in my case I used to own a 6th gen ipad ,I had an issue with the display and they quoted me a price more than cost of the ipad,they told me they would give another refurbished one and not repair the device,so as I said other than for may be battery replacement or in the rare situation a display apple products are use and throw
