- Blowing out 15 old laptop speakers I've been collecting from various laptops and notebooks I have taken apart. This was a vary fun video to record, and I'm planning on making some more speaker blowout in future videos.

I dont like blowing speakers :/ i give my useless speakers to my friend where they can live a new life. I brobably blow speakers that will have no use anymore... or if they cant be repaired if they are damaged

Other uses:
1) high quality voice mic (may need pre-amp)
2) Tiny Toys Utilities with Raspberry Pi / Pi zero w
1) Speaking cashbox
2) Ultrasound comm between devices
3) .... on and on
3) Tweeters(in paralell with other laptop speakers if needed to share current/power)

This reminds me of when I tried to blow up some old headphone drivers. And 7:05 looks like the speaker modules that are in my old Dell Inspiron 6400.
Fans, boomboxes, and more yea, although many laptop models might have used the same speaker design. I get so many computers that I just scrap for parts I don’t even remember where I got some of them.

Fans, boomboxes, and more I got 6 just this week. One had a core i3 3220. I have a gaming computer and a Mac mini I use mainly. People know that I like computers and electronics and they save it for me. A few houses down from mine they where moving and I asked if I could have any electronics. They gave me tons of A/V stuff the 6 computers and piles of led lighting for countertops. You would be surprised what you will get it you talk to people!
@@BGTech1 People in my neighborhood don't really move all that much, but one time a friend of my parent's did move, and I got 4 computers from them, one of them as new as 2016.

The coil
So it is the thin plastic layer that makes the sound, meaning if this plastic layer is not applied then no sound will be produced?
The plastic part you are talking about is called the speaker cone. In the first speaker it’s made out of plastic but in most other speakers it’s made from paper. It’s purpose is to make a larger surface area for more sound to be produced. That’s why it gets quieter when it falls off.

How do you do it to avoid blowing up the amplifier if they fail short circuit?
The amp that I use has built in protection circuit that puts the amp into protection mode when it detects a short. Using a amp without a protection circuit to blow speakers makes damaging your amp more likely.

@@xabeastbass4011 I use a old Kenwood VR-6070. Back in the day it was a very high end home theater receiver. But now it’s old and outdated and perfect for speaker blowing. You can see it in my other videos.

Can you make a headphones out of these?
I did think about doing that a while ago. I ran into issues with the low output volume form the speakers when using a regular 3.5mm aux input jack. I would probably need a headphone amp for decent sound output.

Maybe the speakers I was using had a higher impedance or wattage. I tried that a while ago and I will take some time to look into that project again.

That’s a good question! I’m not exactly sure, maybe it’s because of how they are made and the materials used

1:01 why did the cone fall off
TΩwmaX it previously came off because of the old glue holding the cone to the basket. I put it back in place before recording without glueing it back to see what would happen.
