Depending on the record label, for an Internet video like this, song licensing can cost about $25,000 a song. Especially since he’s fully commercializing it and the video will exist for longer than a year. Music licensing is very convoluted.
I like to think that they actually did send him in the post like: Linus: “damn if only someone would tell me how to put these together” Techguy: **levitates out of one of the boxes while halo music plays**

The most honest reaction I've ever seen Linus have. It was actually satisfying to see the last cut with the high end model. I know this is an old video, but it was fun to watch and learn about this tech.
9:42 "There's so much music I enjoy whether it's mastered well or not" well, yeah, but when you listen to Random Access Memories by Daft Punk, you REALLY gain a new appreciation for the engineers who do mixing right. There are still tracks I love even though they are not mastered well, but those songs I love, but they aren't full experiences like Random Access Memories and the song Contact in particular.
That's exactly how it feels to listen to such high-end stuff. Though the equipment they used (except for the headphones themselves) wasn't all that good to begin with.
@@HamboPlayzMC My point was that the stuff they used probably sucked, because expensive signal chain components (and especially R2R) often perform horribly.

Hassan Beydoun It’s a song about how your daughter can grow up before you know it and to cherish the time you have with her. Highly recommend giving it a listen.
Hassan Beydoun Just to add a bit of context a month later: He wrote the song and just a few months later his daughter was killed in a tragic accident so he really carries that emotion into the song.
They sent an expert to help assemble the ultimate experience. The expert arrived in a FilthyFrank meme T-shirt. It was at that moment I knew this video was definitely gonna be good. Linus better not have many Japanese fans or else they may not like the text on the shirt so much.
Me: So I finally decided to get some good headphones. My $20 Chinese ones are fine, but this $50 HyperX headset is amazing! Linus: Cool, so here's a $34,000 setup.
@@ArkFisted By the time you're spending more than $100, I don't notice enough difference to justify the greater cost. If I want to be absolutely blown away by the sound, I'll got to a concert. If I'm listening at home, a pair of $50 headphones is more than adequate.
It doesn't really work like that. Everything you listen to, you innately pick up all the ways it doesn't sound like real life - stuff like this, there are no flaws to pick up which is why it's such a visceral response to it. It doesn't make other things worse, it's just that the only thing to criticize here is the cost of making no compromises.
You’d think that, but that’s where accuracy vs comfort comes into play. Really well tuned headphones are tiring to listen to, but a cheaper headphones with a more relaxed mix can be just as good or better depending what you are into. I have some solid gear (not on this tier or anything, but maybe $1000 for the whole rig) and it sounds beautiful, but I could throw on a pair of nice Bluetooth headphones that have a warmer mix and enjoy that just as much. I’d kill to try these (I’d probably bawl my eyes out), but I know it wouldn’t ruin that quality. Once you listen to that level for a while your brain just appreciates it instead of being surprised by how good it is. You saw that in the last clip when he put them back on and was truly able to absorb the beauty of what he was hearing.

Honestly, I wouldn’t want to listen to this because I would think everything else sounds bad
**puts headphones down**
"Damn real life has a really bad sound design"
