    I do hope Framework also get a way to sell old components. It could be an interesting way for people to get a Framework laptop fairly cheap. It is rare to have everything unusable at the same time. Chassis could very much be used for many years if one can still fit all the components in it and one doesn't care about visual damage.
    I could also see people who rather have the 16 inch over 13 inch and thereby sell their old laptops whenever they get the new one.

  • @AndersHass
    @AndersHass Год назад +1

    If Framework truly has very many unusable components, they could frame them and sell them as part of some charity auction. Better possibility people would pay for such art in a charity auction than flat out buying it.
    I would think it is rare for people to want to do this given they rarely have everything not working and they'll just replace the specific part instead of "throwing the whole laptop away". Then possible people could collect the broken components until they have a full collection, lol. But I think they would likely just put it in electronics trash where some of the material could perhaps be reused.

    I'd buy one, but I don't like the way the LEDs light up the inside. If I were buying one of building one for myself, I'd personally want them to look more diffused so you don't see bright polka dots everywhere.

    • @ElevatedSystems

      The hot spots looks alot more intense on camera, but you could use translucent white acrylic instead of frosted for a more difused look.

  • @coming-up
    @coming-up 11 месяцев назад

    As far as my calculation goes the price-point for an assembled frame as presented is towards $950 US (without shipping) at a framework component price of $400.
    Realistically I can see people buying this for $ 750 US as a manufactured art piece, but that seems unfeasible as a standalone hand assembly 1of1 kind of thing.
    Maybe introduce a DIY version with most of the parts (frame, components, back-print) without lights, large back-plate and acrylic glass to save package size.
    Also: I would try to find a commercially available frame somewhere. I could see how a narrower, exposed setup adds a topographic 3D element to it.
    Or also sell the back-print as a poster with printed images of the components . There are a few more ideas but you get the idea.
