    As a Chinese, it is also interesting to watch Billy explain Chinese characters. The logic of Korean vocabulary and Chinese vocabulary is really similar.
    음양=阴阳=Yin and Yang
    음성=阴性=Negative property
    양성=阳性=Positive property
    This is a good one to show the similarity and it is why Chinese people learn Korean much faster :)

      Yes, that's because the words are directly from the Chinese language :)

    I really like the the Hanja Videos !! If you make more in the future, could you show some example sentences for the examples. Korean examples make it easier to comprehend the usage vs just an English explanation personally
    thank you for all your hard work!

    I like all of your videos , especially the grammar ones but I have to say these hanja videos are my favorites, I think they are really interesting and learning the hanja meaning gives me the idea of the possible meaning when encountering an unknown word! Could you please make a video about the “places” hanjas like 원, 권, 관… etc. Thank you so much!

    Native here. One important note. When two syllables are in front of 성, you (almost) always pronounce it as 썽. [중요썽], [우수썽], [유사썽], [정확썽], [신뢰썽], [안정썽], [성실썽] etc.

    This one I've seen in 이성 to mean reason(Also found out it can mean opposite sex), 급성(being acute), 개연성(probability) and 가능성(possibility).

    가능성

  • @eundongpark1672
    @eundongpark1672 2 года назад +1

    After watching your video last night, Billy, I've come across 가능성.
    I already knew 가능하다 (verb, to be possible, or 가능한, the adjective form) but now I notice 가능성 in Naver's example sentences when I search 가능.
    So, I wonder about the difference in useage between 가능 and 가능성, since both seem to be the noun meaning possibility. I assume they'd be used in different grammatical contexts but I'll be keeping an eye out for it so eventually I can work it out

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  2 года назад +1

      It's difficult when trying to translate anything 1:1 between English and Korean, so I recommend looking at the Korean definition and the Korean example sentences whenever you're trying to find the difference between two words. You could say something is possible by saying there "is the possibility" (가능성이 있다) for example, but you wouldn't say just "가능이 있다" (this is incorrect).

    • @leehartman3103
      @leehartman3103 Год назад +1

      • 가능, 불가능은 우리들 하기에 달려 있다. (Whether we succeed or not depends on us.)
      • 불가능을 가능으로 만들자! (Let's make it happen although people think it's impossible.)
      '가능' here means achieving something you wanted or succeeding in doing something. It's usually used with the noun 불가능 like in the example sentences.
      • 우리가 이길 가능성이 크다. (Chances are high for us to win.)

      가능성 is a chance that something may happen. The usage of 가능 is the same as that of the English word 'possibility'.
      Actually, we don't use the noun '가능' much. You might make a sentence awkward unless you perfectly understand how to use it.

    안녕하세요 빌리선생님?
    선생님의 한자 비디오를 진짜 즐겁게 봐요. 저에게 아주 재미있고 흥미로워요.
    아예 관계없는 한국어 질문이 있어요. Naver사전에서 발음 정보가 있어요. 근데 ㅚ 가지고 있는 단어는 항상 두 가지 발음이 있어요. 예를 들면 최근 -> [ 최ː근 ] [ 췌ː근 ]; 범죄 -> [ 범ː죄 ] [ 범ː줴 ] 또는 개최 -> [ 개최 ] [ 개췌 ]. 이유는 무엇인 지 궁금하고 어느 발음이 제일 흔한 지 알고 싶어요.
    한국에서 좋은 시간을 보내고 잘 갔다 오시길 바래요.

      'ㅚ'의 원칙상 발음은 'ㅚ'가 맞지만 'ㅞ'도 허용되는 발음입니다. 'ㅚ'는 독일어의 ö 발음과 유사한 발음이라고 보면 되나 현재 50~60대 이하 연령층에서는 거의 쓰이지 않습니다. 모두 'ㅞ'로 발음하셔도 무방합니다.

    the scientists among us are cringing at equating "accuracy" and "precision". They're different qualities, so I wonder how Korean scientists talk about them if they can't distinguish between them cos 정확성 means both accuracy or precision

    • @user-xs2sb4dt3l
      @user-xs2sb4dt3l Год назад

      accuracy is 정확성 and precision is 정밀성.
      '밀' means density or deviation

    Is this the same 성 as in family name, or is that different?
    Even if it isn't, it will be very helpful to think of family name to remember the meaning of this hanja.
