5:13 One interesting example for 정(이)들다 that I want to share is, it is used in the latest BIGBANG's comeback single, 봄여름가을겨울 (Still Life), where at the second verse (Daesung's part), "정들었던 네 젊은 날 이제는 안녕", which literally means 'Goodbye now to my younger days that had been my affection". The possibly interpretable meanings for the word 정들었던 there is perfectly matched with Billy 샘's explanation, where according to the song, where all affection/connection that had "entered" in one's younger life are coming to its end and one has to move on from it although the memories are still staying in their heads.
2:20 ㅋㅋㅋ lol about the choco pie, it must be strongly related to anyone (especially SK men) who is eligible for military service, where (usually in past years) it becomes the extra source of energy for recruits and soldiers, which it's usually given as treats for good results or performances during military training, so they kinda always compete among each other to get as many choco pies as possible ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Thanks for this video. Very helpful. I remember seeing 애정 once and the translation was "love" however, when going back to my tutor, she told me that 애정 was more like a deeper/stronger love or affection. More than 사랑

That word is simply 애 ("love") + 정.

The Hanja series are EXACTLY what I needed! Studied traditional Chinese back in university and it has been a while since I've been able to study them more so these type of video's are an immense help! Thank you so much🤩🤩

This series is so helpful. I finally can link meanings between words not only words you've given in video's but even more. It's a treasure for latin based languages speakers who don't have this context. Thank you so much!

I used to find 情 on 초 코 파이 a few years back but not lately. They were great for Valentines Day. I like hanja, especially the 우 雨 ja and its combinations 설雪, 운雲, 로露. 전電 is just rain with a little kite. It was first written by Benjamin Franklin.

What does Hanja mean? Thanks for finding words that don't convey that well in English... I'll keep looking for more of these!

hanja is 漢字 "Chinese character", as pronounced by Korean.

Thank you. In some esoteric Buddhist practices, it may be a different character, but 정 was taught to me as the static energy, whereas 동 is the more dynamic energy. I'll have to look up the hanja character one day to confirm.

Following up, in case someone is wondering, they are different characters. The 정 I am referring to is 靜. The 동 I was referring to is 動.

I've seen this used in 사정(situation, 事情). Also a similar looking/meaning hanja that I also have seen used *tho not the same* is 정 in 정신(spirit or mind, 精神).

    Also 애정
    애 - love (Hanja 爱 ai)
    정 - connection
    = affection ❤️

'정신이 없다' is related? Or that '정' is just happens to be same spelling?

Can 정이 들다 be used with someone u haven’t meet in reality? Like by saying : through watching someone’s videos I felt connection to him/her?

    • @Jules_April24th
      @Jules_April24th 7 месяцев назад

Yeah It can be used whether or not you actually met the other person. It's a feeling, which crosses physical boundaries.
