    Thought it was really good overall, probably would give it a 8.5/10 after the first viewing. Also think it's the best since the original. I still have a few issues with the film though. Btw, Nick Castle only plays the shape in 1 or 2 scenes, most of the movie is James Jude Courtney as Myers. Great review though man, I agree with you when you say the film will grow on you over time!

    15:06 I think the same. Had Hawkins not run Michael over, everything with Sartain not happened and if he hadn't seen Laurie through a crack in her front door he'd have never gone after her or her family. He'd have just wandered around looking for somebody else to kill which it looked like he was doing when Allyson, Hawkins and Sartain come across him. His seeing Laurie again is random much like it was in 1978 when she dropped a key off at Michael's old house. IMO his killing spree was to relieve his original 1978 rampage in 2018. He wasn't after Laurie and didn't break out to kill her like she thought. That was just her being paranoid. She probably thought he wanted to kill her for being the one that got away and also for blinding him in one eye and stabbing him in the gut with his own knife 40 years ago but Michael didn't give a shit. That's a contrast between them in that while Michael completely ruined Laurie's life she didn't cause him much more than a mild inconvenience.

    Just watched Halloween (2018) earlier & it definitely lives up to the hype. The kills are good. The music is right. Director David Gordon Green did his homework on the original & it clearly shows in the finished film. What I was really impressed by was the lack of nudity in the film. I never thought I'd hear myself say it but I found that aspect refreshing. I enjoyed the family dynamics more than the granddaughter's so-called friends. Dr Spartan's heel turn in the film was another twist that I found refreshing. I truly had a great time watching the film. It's as close to a perfect sequel as we've gotten so far. Overall, a Gold standard certification rating. Looking forward to seeing Halloween Kills in a few months.

    Bryan! Feels like it’s been forever! I actually have time to watch things and comment for once. Have to click off early before the spoilers, I’m seeing it later, but enjoying your review so far. So I’ll be back for the analysis, until then..
    love the giant LEGO Batman!

      Bryan Lomax Movie Talk well to start, I hated the doctor character, until I finished watching this and got a new perspective on him. I still hate him, mostly because I like Will Patton and that was a really bad way to take out a great character. I like your perspective on it, just think it could’ve been executed better. In fact, the Halloween dance up through that twist could’ve been executed better to give the same result. You were pretty spot on, as usual, Michael and Laurie were great, Hawkins was great and the granddaughter was good. Overall I really enjoyed it

      I think you're right in that it could have definitely been handled better. I can see what they were going for, which is why I don't mind it too much, but they should have revealed where the doctor was going before he made a move on Patton. In fact, I think we should have seen him break Myers off the bus so we'd be left thinking, "Aye up, what's this fella playing at?" Then when he explained himself later it would have been more fluid and not so out of the blue.

      Bryan Lomax Movie Talk it definitely made his death more satisfying since he had the audacity to put on Michael’s mask. Still not entirely sure why he did that just to take it back off almost immediately. But we did get some great things right before that, the kill on Allyson’s friend was the most old school Michael he was in that movie. And the score that followed was probably my favorite of the completely new music in the film.

    I kind of liked the "new loomis" character. It kind of gives the impression that anyone who spends a considerable amount of time with Michael Myers will be sort of drawn in by/infected with his evil

    I really enjoyed the movie. Yes there are many plot holes and yes the comedy is hit and miss, but overall it’s really well made with fun call backs to past movies. It could have been better but it also could have been so much worse!

    The new Halloween was fine minus Laurie daughter not getting killed. Which would had set up Laurie training her grand daughter to get revenge on Michael in the next one. If not then they do another part three deal and see if it finally works.

      What part 3?

    • @Xehanort10
      @Xehanort10 5 лет назад

      Yeah. One of the Strodes should have died. Karen dying would have fit. Her not realising how necessary Laurie training her to kill Michael was and getting killed because of it would have made sense.

    I liked it, but I actually hated the throw away characters except the smart one that grabs the knife, and the babysitter. She was great, but I wish her death scene was more serious it would've been a great scene. It would've been as great or greater than the prom night scene where the stalker kills her mom as she's under the bed.
    The dad character completely had no business being in the film. It wasn't just the peanut butter scene, it was near every scene. He told her mom, Laurie, to stop at the dinner when he clearly knows the story, and seems to be a soft man, yet he treats this elder inlaw who's suffered trauma with no respect. Then when they're proven to have bad security for their home he acts as though she's the threat and stands down the moment she stands up to him. Then he wonders out of a safe house like some drunk moron, walks to a police car after getting no response when he knows a killer is on the loose and stands there like an idiot just staring at two dead bodies. He so deserved to.die.
    I liked the film but H20 is better for me personally because the characters are actually likable.

    It still blows my mind that a guy as smart in film as Bryan is can put H20 above this one 😂
    2018 is better directed, better written, better acted, MUCH better Myers and score. H20 literally has nothing on this one. 😜
    You know I'm messin with ya. 😉 good review bro

      This one does indeed have better direction and a better Myers. But H20's script is waaay better dude and the performances too (except for Myers of course).

    • @AgesofFilm
      @AgesofFilm 7 месяцев назад

      @BryanLomax we will have to agree to disagree then on the script, everytime I watch H20, there's some ridiculous plot hole that I can't get pass or defend.... 2018 doesn't have any really, I can make sense of pretty much everything in this one.
      I'll give you the point on the bad McBride dialog, that's a valid criticism and the only one that I have with this film

    • @BryanLomax
      @BryanLomax  7 месяцев назад

      @@AgesofFilm dude, just coz something makes sense doesn't mean it's executed well. The Sartain twist comes out of nowhere, making it feel like it was shoehorned in, and given that all the sequels to the original were ignored by 2018, Laurie Strode's character is way too over the top and self involved. Who she is as a person feels totally unearned. In H20 that's not the case at all. She feels way more believable and sympathetic. 2018 has good ideas but the script presents them in the worst way possible.

    • @AgesofFilm
      @AgesofFilm 7 месяцев назад

      @BryanLomax for me and my viewing experience with a film if I make sense of a plot point and justify it, then it's not usually an issue for me. Sartain is often misunderstood, he symbolizes the bizarre fascination that we as an audience have with evil which is what Michael represents. You mentioned that yourself in this review. So that doesn't bother me, because when I watch it, in my head I can understand WHY the script is having him do what he's doing and what he symbolizes in the film... and I would say you do kind of see it coming, I mean the guy is constantly talking about his obsession with Myers and wanting to know what it feels like to be Myers, so the script is hinting at it alone the way.
      With Lori, I justify her state of mind in this one by saying she was an innocent, pure, teenage girl who not only saw ALL of her friends dead bodies at the same time but also fell from a flight of stairs, nearly got stabbed to death and nearly got choked to death by.... as you said yourself, quite possibly the devil himself. That's enough to seriously traumatize someone like an innocent teenage girl for life. There are people in Psych wards that are messed up from simply seeing someone die, much less almost dying themselves. So for me, Lori being the way she is, is perfectly understandable and I would argue makes Myers even more terrifying by having that kinds of effect on someone.

    I was so disappointed with the new Halloween. I actually like the first act of the movie. (rating 2/3)
    Second act was bad, with a 1 or 2 good scenes. (rating 0.5/3)
    Third act was just ok, with a terrible ending. (rating 1.5/4)
    The movie was just a greatest hit collection of the Halloween franchise and most of them were OMG moment why did they do that.
    It was like the writers decided to add the best scenes from the original, Halloween 4 and H20 and let make a new movie with scenes incorporated it in, end result it was a complete fail.
    My rating 4/10

      Aww, that's a shame bro! But hey, it's all subjective, so you can't help the way you feel. Sucks though when you've been waiting for a film for so long.

      A lot of people liked the integration of the throwbacks. Fans could easily catch them, but new viewers just thought they were a part of the film. It was great.
