I watched the movie years ago and it didn’t fully click with me. However, your review makes me want to give it another chance. Great video!
My mom recommended this to me back in 2021 as well as hearing some people talk about it so i bought it and I thought that this movie was great.
My all time favorite film thank you Bryan!
It’s such a fascinating movie to me, as you went into here considering the sheer amount of problems during production and the fact they came out in the end with this 2.5 hour insane and unique masterpiece. Some interesting things here you pointed out too which I hadn’t thought about before. Great review Bryan, thanks!
Never seen it, read a lot (maybe too much!) about it. Will see it someday.
Haven't seen the film yet but with the upcoming release of Megapolisni am going to watch some of Coppola's work and i will probably pick the final cut.
Btw Nice showcase of your Buffy the vampire slayer set!
I'm going through it at the moment. Half way through season 4.
@@BryanLomax Since over the last couple days you have watched the planet of the apes sequels, are you planning on rewatching the original or you did and still consider it ok?
@@adamcade604 watching the sequels has made me want to go back and give the original another try. So I watched the first 50 minutes tonight before bed and, I gotta say, right now it's looking like a 4/5. It made me think about doing a 'Top 10 Movies I Got Wrong' video 🤣
@@BryanLomaxcannot wait for that video, mainly because we both know that probably Joostice League is the number one
Never watched Kramer vs. Kramer, but Apocalypse Now maybe 10 times.
Btw.: Don't watch that film for Marlon Brando. While his role is important it's brief, at the very end and ... not his best work.
It's funny to see Harrison Ford cast in some small, not very significant supporting role.
I actually think Brando works quite well in the role. But for me this is Sheen's film.
Do I need to watch every version of this movie, or just the original release?
Just stick to the theatrical cut.
@@BryanLomaxThanks! Sometimes the Final/Director Cuts are the best version (Blade Runner, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, almost any special edition James Cameron releases, etc.). They just make the movie better. But in all my research, the conclusion many will come to with Apocalypse Now is that the theatrical is best.
What I will say about this movie is that I have owned it for YEARS and NEVER watched it. I have the REDUX cut and the FINAL cut on DVD both have watched neither. I claim to be a cinephile but I have never watched it. Does this make me a fraud?
Nah. It's just one of those movies that takes a while to get to because it makes you feel like you're about to sit an exam.
@@BryanLomax Would you recommend the Final cut or Redux for first viewing?
@@damodavies9273 I've not seen The Final Cut but I prefer the theatrical over Redux.
@@damodavies9273definitely Final over Redux
When asked about the academy's representation Mark Kermode replied that it represents the opinions of white middle aged Hollywood executives only.I love so many things about this movie but the scene with the buffalo tainted it . I don't buy the excuses since they didn't wash for Deodato either.
