- Hey guys and gals, today we start a new challenge and try building a motorized bicycle with only parts that you can buy at home depot! I'm actually using a snow -blower engine rather than a weed-eater because It's what I had on hand. That said, I feel like most bikes made as friction drives are considered a weed-eater motorized bike hence the title! I hope you enjoyed the video and maybe gained some insight as to how to build your own motorized bike, even if you don't have a welder! I have many other projects on my channel such as mini bikes, go karts, gas scooters, motorcycles and of course, motorized bikes!
Be sure to subscribe for part two of this motor bike!

That two-stroke should run upside down or any position. I'd remove the extension you put on to change how the carb was positioned and run it the way it was originally.
I agree but Im sure by now you figured it out. ill go find part 2.! lol lol.
A two stroke engine can run in any position as the crank case has no oil it gets its oil from the fuel supply the float bowel must be level
Agreed 👍
Hey Oliver! use a skate-board wheel for the contact point.
Thanks for the idea!
Hey Matt, would you think it back again, you "physic failure" ?
@@cfonvip5151 huh what?
Or you can use a bike peg
@@OliverMotorized np
As far as wondering if the carb was on the wrong angle try tilting the bike on its face and see if it runs or get a welder and build a new manifold
I forgot about this video. You gave me a couple good ideas. A little different but I like how you did it. I'll watch more video's of yours, if there like this
I just subscribed. I like your channel and your way of thinking and working crap out. we think alike. Stay healthy and be well. keep the content coming. Thx bud....
this channel is underrated asf
Very well done
Wow.. I wish I could have this aptitude mechanically
You gotta start very young.
Hi , i used your lever principle to engage my chainsaw friction system and it works . I had to re-do the roller because the obe i had was too big. I replaced it with an old 19 mm impact socket and i made some cross threads and men it works . Now planning to do a multi gear 4 stroke bike. Seeya
Awesome project
The angle shouldn't matter if it is a diaphragm carb.(no float).Stunt pegs are great for rollers!
wow nice and simple i love it im gonna need a bigger engine to get me moving and im gonna go with 4 stroke just pull up at the servo fill up and go
Man, that's a cool project
Thanks Victor!
Does the fuel tank have a breather?
Can't wait to see the ride,...You could use a BMX foot peg to drive it.
Yeah i've seen that done before! it's for sure an option!
I've seen that too.put backward over the shaft, and just a bolt in the standard hole, into the clutch threads.Beats paying $50 for an ordered knurled piece, that basically same.
Thank You ! ! 👍👍
I'll be using a BMX trick peg. Many of them have a knurled finish, ideal for this application. 25mm, or 28mm for more speed...
Excelente gracias 😊👌
I used a bolen weed whacker motor 49cc with a bike peg mounted to the drive shaft no clutch straight friction drive and turn buckle for tension all you do is peddle pull throttle and go top speed 27.6 mph works great have to start the motor by peddling fun build love it let me know if you want pics and more details
OH SHIT BRO IM VERY PUMPED FOR THIS VIDEO
Great build but I think where the carb mounts to engine there should be a very small hole punched in where the gasket is make sure its not obstructed you might need to adjust the float slightly especially since its not level need to allow it to let a little bit more gas in
First off love your videos you are a talented builder / fabricator. where or who did you get that door hinge idea for the motor mount from?
I'm not entirely sure. I think years ago I may have come across a video on you tube that did something similar. Thanks for the comment!
Cool
Also it doesn’t really matter if the engine leans to the side a bit I ride a goped Bigfoot same type of drive system and it leans a lot but as long as it’s touching 3/4 of the way it should be fine
very very good
Thanks Aynaz!
@@OliverMotorized i am from russia.I want to keep in touch with you.
I know most people use pegs, but I think that if you were to add a small wheel to the output shaft of the engine it would spin the tire faster ! Just my oppinion!
The float,in it's bowl,isn't.LoL.The bowl is tilted steep enough, that the needle closes and fuel can't keep filled enough.Awesome project.Actually do have a 79cc weed..ter engine I've been waiting to do this with.Decided to use an electric scooter board on front wheel.I'll see how yours goes, and decide.Thanx for all the fun stuff.
BryDuhBikeGuy hey Bry! This carb only uses a diaphragm so it doesn’t have a float! I have the parts in right now to fix er up but been busy with other projects haha. Good luck on urs!
With the fuel tank as high as it is,and that much fuel,it isn't the lines.I had a gocart that drove my bud and I crazy. It wouldn't run below a 1/2 tank.=Tank wasn't high enough to flow down.Yours is fine.
Can you by any chance give me a list of parts? I'm doing one of these right now and am finding out which design I should go with. Thanks!
Screen under the exhaust manifold might be carboned up?
I thought about a similar design but with a smaller two stroke and turning a spare fork into a lever for the engine to drive the front wheel.
Nice, sounds do-able!
Dinosaur,Old moThA- BrOnTo motor Kinda CoOL...
Air issue in the manifold, im using a weed eater motor for my project build. Not sure how it will work out, but im also going to add a electric motor with a battery pack and some type of charging system or /and a solar powered recharging system.
Diaphragm type carbs like the one you're using can run at all angles, even upside down....Just take it apart and clean out the gunk and it'll work great.
If it has a float in the carb it has to be level a diaphragm carb can be at any angle
yeah its a diaphragm!
Clean the choke take the choke off clean it and clean the flapper spray the lines out the gas lines and put new gas in it and make sure that you know whether it is mixed gas with oil or just a gas engine because that is very important you could lock your engine up if you don't know the difference also make sure that you have oil in it if it is separate because some of those engines are mixed oil and some are gas separate from oil so that's important to know but clean the choke which is like the throttle body out clean it out good and it should run happy driving post a video when you get it running I might build me one up lol
You got some pretty decent ideas I'm also installing a 212 predator engine on a trike bike but the front I wanted to put a motorized wheel hub on front and and that raised the front up and I also having problems with that going out on me as well anybody got any input is it possible to chain is too tight not to carry its load and want to call out? Appreciate any you guys is idea
Love the channel great kid i just can't get over the fact it says weed-eater motorized and he's using a snow blower engine
I know :( it's a little click baity, but not as many people search "snowblower motorized bike". Hope it conveys the same overall concept though! Thanks.
@@OliverMotorized ABSOUTELY! Thats whyI tried hard to convey my opinion with out using the word "Clickbait" this is far from at least what I consider to be clickbait still Great video and much love!!
Check out latest video: I power my bicycle with a SAW
ruclips.net/video/aTeUE5iUJ9I/видео.html
Hi Oliver I actually built one just like that with a techumse snowblower engine ,had a similar issue ,try to cover the carb with a air filter, and try carb cleaner ,mine ran fine after that I didn't make a video on it but I'm trying to start up again 👍
ahh thank you! i'll rip open the carb later on
I would like to see you build a 3 wheeler that would be a cool project
What are you putting it on?
If it really is a wèed eater. It has a diaphram carb and can be ran in any orientation. The low and high speed jets will more than likely need to be adjusted. There are a bunch of videos on utube showing how.
I want to start welding for bike mods.... No experience, what kind of welder do I need?
i'd go to harbor freight and buy one of theirs. Super cheap and easy to use!
Harbor Freight mig.even the flux core type are.good, once you practice dialing in the HEAT vs.WIRE SPEED. UNDER 100.oo(john wade you tube).
See if you can keep it running on starting fluid if so tilt it and see if it runs if not it is either the carb is bad or the fuel lines are clogged
any help I make one of these but when I go to start it on the Compression stroke the tire just slides I tried lowering it but still same thing happened what should I do?
I think your flow bowl needs to go vertically you can probably get into a diaphragm carburetor and it will work fine at any angle
does it have a vent in tank ?
What's the background music ? I like it
Oh, and to minimize the effort I would mount the engine with a longer panel mount so the angle play is less of a difference, like have shaft connect to the tire more toward the back of the wheel.
Thanks for the advice!
Would You like to share Why that should matter? Id say Performance is the same in any of the circumstances of the tire,Giving same pressure applied/Tire pressure,Saying mounts don't flex.`•.OV0
I'm thinking it's not running because there's not the right back pressure from changing the muffler
Rule number one when building a motorized bicycle. NEVER drill a hole in the frame. I made that mistake ONCE, and it cost me three broken bones, soft tissue damage, and a lot of road rash.
What happened exactly? Sounds crazy man.
It sounds like you made something way to fast for a bicycle frame to handle. They are not made like motorcycle frames; they weren't designed with the extra speed or stress in mind. Some structural reinforcement could've saved you from whatever happened to you.
I very much appreciate this comment. I was actually going to do that but now I'm not. I can not thank you enough. Thank you
Maybe a lack of back pressure due to no muffler? If so a larger jet for more fuel
Vacuum type Diagram carburetor, has, no fuel bowl. Or cable actuated up and down engine. Not as much levered.
How many cc (cm3)? Fuel consumption per 100 km? Maximum speed?
Next time you should try a two twelve
But good job! This was very helpful
haha thanks m8!
How fast and how far can it go before no gas???
I think it might be a carburator issue, as in taking apart, cleaning it and put back together and adjusting the high and low mixture screws.
i'll do just that!
Carb issue by sounds . That looks like floats might be at bad angle in the bowl. Try original fitting and lean carb backwards like original try that.... or does the coil get warm and stop producing spark
this carb uses a diaphragm but i'll check the coil
Carb float bowl
Use a old box to make a gasket
Its the carburetor tilt
Goped spindle would work
Haha, too polite, you're not going to get many "Ladies" or "Gentlemen" watching this!! :)
Floats are angled weird with carb like that you will have to ride wheelies every where
D amn had the same idea for years
Get out and build it my dude!
Also you need to add a fuel filter
Yea just a crook carby check the jets 👍
The biggest problem you will face with that engine is the diaphragm carburetor you could upgrade the carburetor to a tecumse carburetor from an old lawn mower that has a float bowl that holds more fuel and eliminates the diaphragm that tends to go bad in these all the time also the angle of the carburetor is a problem pitching down starving the engine of fuel the carburetor has to be level
Please try make with another side with sprocket instead of friction driven
It can most probably be a fuel issue because the fuel line is not straight and since the carburetor works with a vacuum the carb won't have enough suction to get gas in the bowl. It can also be dirty and not succ enough gas into the bowl
Thanks for the advice! I'll check it out
1/10th the price of bike berry friction drive kit. And yours would probably last longer lol
E la seconda parte?
That is a bad ass clutch system ahaha, what a rat rod i love it. Love your mindset and approach. I think the reason its not starting is bad compression, it sounded like its gettin fuel when you tried to start it, make sure the spark plugs not super dirty. But other than thight might just need to reseal the head with some high heat rtv or somethin, if the carb is the issue buy a $10 2 stroke or dirt bike carb off ebay
JB weld the carburetor on
WEED EATER
go to johnjohn101 see how he inguages his motor onto back tyre elbo piveot pulls a lever and by doing that he's got drive or or not very effective
80 cc that is over double what other people use.
imagine putting a twin turbo on the bike it will be fly through the streets and would beat a gtr
"Rings"
For the "wheel" on the engine shaft, use a hole saw (whatever diameter your engine will handle), on the sidewall of scrap tires. Drill out the center for what the shaft size is. The rubber will flex away as you're drilling, so go to full size. Rubber will shrink to a tight fit. Drill hole in a board a hair bigger than the shaft, put the rubber above it and drive the shaft through. Because of curvature, will need to spin the rubbers to lie as flat as possible. I used a 3/8" bolt for shaft with washers at each end, then tightened a nut . Drill end of wore out paddle bit hooked to another nut, then shaped to fit weed eater square drive. If something busts, it will be the square.
Try vapor fuel
I use weed eater engines for my friction drive bike's and they have pumper carbs they run in any position, I think your engine will run better without the intake it sounds lean so it's probably a dirty carb or just the position with the intake manifold, also put more air in the rear tire.
And if that's a pumper carb and cleaning it and removing the intake manifold don't work adjust the high and low fuel screws start by screwing them in all the way easy though then go 1 full turn out see if it runs if not go ahead and back them out a nother 1/8 of a turn until it sets and idles good then see how it revs it shouldn't die or bog when you rev it if it does then turn the screw farthest from the engine witch is the high screw turn it out a 1/16 of a turn at a time until it revs good , also run 3.2oz of 2cycle oil to 1 gallon of gas that's 40:1 ratio.
Thanks for the advice man! I cracked open the carb and it looks like it was completely missing a gasket that goes on top of the diaphragm, I ordered a re-build kit for $10 for this specific carburator, I'll keep ya'll posted on how it turn out. Cheers!
@@OliverMotorized Good hopefully it's the fix it needs.
Why dont dudes make bikes with motors above the back wheel of bycycle.I made one with a honda 5 h.p. 5 years ago and its awsume. I may put it on u tube havent decided.I,ve shown it to my small engine dealer and he says its revolutionary
Had a bike built by friend in 1962 and I finally built a replica from that time
The air filter is dirty
Eak number mean first one bro
????? I've never seen that engine at Home Depot.......
Milage?
not sure
Però potevi far vedere un giro di prova
It wasnt finished so I made it two parts
😏
Cool bike! Check mine out!
it's creative but just buy a regular bicycle engine. I bought a racing engine and performance parts and it does about 50mph but it feels like your hauling ass
Y'all that's not a weed eater engine for snowblower engine dude now I got to find somebody else's video so I can learn how to do it with a weedeater engine thanks for nothing man
?
Ya can't even make it run for the video? My daddy would call that "half assed".
A grown man who calls his father his "daddy" is not entitled to an opinion
home depot steel is highway murder. I get steel from a dedicated steel supply for 1/4 the price of HD... I hate homedepot, and they hate me, so its all mutual...
I heard Ace Hardware and Lowe's despise you man. What you do?
Lol
please look at me when you talk......not the Can-Screen,,,,,
I've done it
That's not a weed eater engine. Much too large.
If the carb is angled wrong make a custom intake manifold
click bait. A snowblower motor is was different than a weed eater engine.
Are you so inept that you can't apply this same technique to a weed whacker engine?
