  • hey guys in this video we go from a roto-tiller and a bike to an awesome looking vintage motorbike. Using a briggs and stratton 5hp engine and a Canadian made "elite" bicycle! this motorized bike/motorbike goes around 30mph while also having plenty of torque to get me going. It uses a belt tensioner as a clutch that then goes to a chain drive to the rear wheel. If you liked this motorized bike be sure to check out the rest of the channel for mini bikes, go karts, gas scooters, motorcycles and of course, more motorized bikes! Thanks for watching!

    Awesome build! I would consider replacing that hand lever clutch with a foot pedal option that mated into a full foot platform) that locked down and then released with a cable running to a hand/thumb lever - that way you can have both hands on the handlebars while releasing the drive. Great job!

    • @jimfurr81
      @jimfurr81 5 лет назад +7

      I keep hearing the bicycle chains can't take the load but I saw these motorized bikes in my youth doing just fine! The B&S Engine was mounted on two 2x4's that were clamped to the frame and had belt drive to a pulley on the left side, mounted to the pedal shaft. The belt was large enough to go from the engine to the lower pulley and up to another pulley that could be pressurized by the riders foot. The movable pulley was mounted to a 2x4 on the frame and went up enough to allow force to be applied by foot with a small bar extended on the pulley center axle. Worked just fine. Maybe chains were stronger in the early 60's?

    In the early 60s we used chrome rim rings and a belt for the drive. The rim was similar to what Golden Eagle (GEBE) uses but smooth and for standard fan belts vs their kevlar geared belts. The rim rings were from various older cars, maybe from the 40s. Rudely and crudely we mounted the engines with plywood or whatever metal we could find. I use to put mine on the front wheel, direct drive. Pedal to start, coaster brakes to stop. Yes they were crappy and dangerous but we were young. That was for one summer then we graduated to mini bikes, then Honda 90s and up, then Harleys. Luckily we all lived and so far made it to our mid 60s.

    I like your ingenuity..! Instead of just buying an adequate engine you used what you already had lying around. Excellent.. :)

    Adapting to the bike was a lot of ingenuity. I like the drive system. Good job! I always wanted to build one with the drive pressing on the tire somewhere.

      @Consome Deguacuco Disobey german road traffic and they bring you totaler Krieg.I have two friends who went to jail because they drove without license.Usually its hard to get to jail in germany, even if you stabbed or robbed someone, but with traffic laws they make no fun.They must be left over from third Reich or something.
