    My kit only has two of those notched rectangular blocks, should I put them on the front or the back? I also received two of those lever type clamps that you have on the outside/back, does one go on the front? Or is my included hardware just all fubar?

    Hi Tony, how are you?
    My name is Carlos and I speak from Brazil.
    I am subscribed to your channel and follow with great interest the tests and assembly of motorized bicycles.
    Well, actually, I'm architect, but I have a passion, which is bicycles, I pedal a lot....
    I've already designed and built some and at the moment, I want to assemble one on the friction system, more or less like the one in your video. I'm not looking for the whole kit that you present here, but only the friction drive roller...Would it be possible for me to purchase only this specific part?
    Congratulations on the simplicity and competence with which you conduct this channel!

      @@carloscondedealmeida4281, I am assembling a bicycle with a 63cc 2-stroke engine and using nothing less than a new 1/2 inch drill chuck on the grinder as a friction roller on the rear tire, a speed of +/- can be achieved. 50 to 55 km/hr. using a 26 wheel bike, it works really well.

    I put one of your 38cc friction drive kits on a bike a couple years ago. The main issue with the kit is the roller diameter is too big. Even on level pavement the clutch will never fully engage. To make it work I ground down the roller to .975" which seems a out right for the 38cc engine.

    • @paradiselost9946
      @paradiselost9946 12 дней назад

      back when i was running them, 1/2" external star washers worked great. i think theyre 3/4 on the OD? or 13/16... meh. long time ago. stacked, makes splined shafts. bolt up the middle, clamp them together, and as they wear can re-arrange them.
      gotta consider the roller as a wheel running on the ground itself, and yeah, gear ratio demands it be under an inch in diameter. 22mm. wheel diameter doesnt matter.
      and that makes the contact patch too small so theyre always slipping, chewing tyres, need high pressures, blah blah.
      only really good friction drive i made was running a 6" scooter tyre. rubber on rubber, and the larger diameter meant it NEVER slipped.

    ihave the 49cc one i put over a 700 miles on it. the motor gets great gas mpg and it use verey little oil .the only downside is when it rains it loses traction on the rear tire.Its a good fair weather kitt,as for how fast the bike 30 mph full speed going on flat highway and about 16 t0 20 mph on up steep hills the not bad .iam 6,2 and 220 pounds .

    I would suggest anyone making one of these bikes to gusset the frame the welds on a bicycle frame are not designed to take the strain of engine power a little scrap steel and a cheap welder goes a long way

    I do not like this friction motor. It seems someone who will drive will partially sit on the motor. Kits with 2 stroke or 4 stoke engines mounted on the frame with the chain look in my opinion much better, although this friction motor is prety easy to install.

  • @garygullikson6349

    It's a shame that you can't somehow cut a section out of the rear fender for the friction drive to contact the tire and leave the fender on if wanted.

  • @lukeWiz44
    @lukeWiz44 10 месяцев назад +2

    with these kits, your really trying to get lucky. the drive spindle clutch is usually welded bent, and sticks out too far, so the clutch is rubbing 24/7. and bikeberry doesn’t offer free returns for defective items. quite sad really
