This is probably the most accurate but still off of actual boot camp. I remember I had to stay in the room where everyone ships all of their civilian things home and a recruit asked if they could keep a straw that their recruiter gave them. The facilitator asked why did he give him a straw, abd the recruit stated that if he wanted to quit his recruiter said just to suck it up. He got to keep the straw.

8 weeks of Navy Boot Camp does NOT include "P-days" or processing days. Number of P-days is case by case basis. My division had an unusually long processing period. I can't remember exactly but it was between 9-12 days-- which was ridiculous. So, we were at boot camp for roughly 9 1/2 weeks.

Ironic that I watched this video a couple weeks ago just to see how the Navy did things. I think stuff like this is important as I get older, especially when young people ask me about the Military in general. My BCT (It was IET then) started in August 1991 at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. We wore BDUs. We carried M16A1s. On U.S.
Weapons we fired M60s, M72 LAW Rockets (with a 9mm tracer round). But everything else was the same as today's BCT. Crazy. I got out in 2004 after Iraq. I carried an M4/203, an M9 (I was a Mike Papa), PLUGR (GPS), and was the ASV M1117 Guardian Team Leader. Keep doing what you're doing Drill Sergeant. The Army depends on it. I have had three buddies who were DS. They love/loved it.

My father was in the military as a Naval drill sergeant before being retiring as a lieutenant commander and he told me stories of how he made it a goal to make as many recruits cry as possible. His max was 10 at once and every body was terrified of him. Before I continue I just want to say he is an amazing father who rarely yelled at me and my brother, at least to that extent and he never once physically spanked us (my mom sure as hell did.) just because people think kids whose parents were drill sergeants were abused. They almost never are because everything they do in the military is just for show to inspire everyone. Anyways, the amount of hell he put them through made Full Metal Jacket look like a spa day (not really but you know what I mean.) I got to say it was pretty funny when he met up with a former recruit and scared the crap out of him by just saying hi.

He said after that they didn't need to tell him to do anything twice.

Ugh, only problem I remember having was understanding a single thing my RDC was saying. They'd bark it out in a way, all I'd hear is "blah blah" and then I'd look around to see what everyone else was doing, and do the same. I don't know what it is, but I can really be hard of hearing sometimes, even now, don't know what it is that causes it since my hearing test always comes up clean. I remember when our Chief lost his voice from screaming so much. Everyone was like, "what he say," I just smiled and thought "welcome to my world."

Is the US army usess the M16A3 assault rifle?

In this video i find to many people seem to have attitude problems when it comes to discipline.Ericka Bernie do you find people are like this in Army basic? When i was in basic in 1982 the first day we jumped and ran and sounded off AND had fear of Drill Sgt's from the start. Most of us back then seemed to calm down after training was over and went to our first permanent duty station. These Navy people act like they were drafted and didn't want to be there lol

Wow- the memories! I went thru Navy boot camp in 1988- so much has changed, but so much of it is still the same! Wonderful memories! :)
FYI- Company commanders, or RCD's now, are E-6 (petty officer first class) or above to push divisions. My company commanders were a E-6 Machinist Mate, and E-6 Boatswains mate... I feel bad for those companies that got saddled with chief pettty officers...*lol*

I have a question..do you think the DIs embellished with their attitude and voice because of the filming crew..I know personally how it is in the army..ft Jackson 2006.. but I always here how the navy was a cake walk..also PFU duty was pretty fun at jackson..got stuck. as a hold over for a little extra time so I had plenty of details of that nature...I enjoyed all my time in the army even the hardest days..if you are reading this I'm curious where you're stationed?? I enjoy your uploads because of the nostalgia I get while watching..thank you.
