- The day before you graduated you family gets to see what has been happening to their soldier for the past 10 weeks. It might go a little something like this, but it depends on your battery. It was awesome to witness all the families getting back together. The tears, the hugging. An amazing moment. Enjoy soldiers!

My senior drill sergeant started flirting with my mom on family day, now they’re talking on Facebook .-.
Lol
What the hell LOL
Lmfao
lmaooo
LMFAOOO
My drill sergeants didn't give 2 shits about family day once we were released we never saw them till final formation 😂😂
Holy handgrenade 1999 same here but hey they cycle Through so much in a year so Fuxk it lol
I love seeing this. My family couldn’t come to see me after basic or AIT. Then I got shipped to Korea. It’s been a year and some change, but I’m about to go home! Couldn’t be more excited :)
Kersty Poo Same here. I graduated basic as distinguished honor grad. It felt like a waste since no one was in the audience for me. They should have gave it to someone else.
Kerstin . Im so sorry your family could not make it. Thank you for your services and congratulations for completing bootcamp!
@@unitedwestanddividedwefall5098 Thank you for your service, and congratulations !
@Yin Wang Yin ,thank you for your services and congratulations on completing boot camp!
Damn 😂
Back in 97 Sadly i was the only soldier on family day, with no family showing up.
skidoo princess4life what happens if your family doesn’t show up?
I've been wanting to know that as well but I'm guessing you just head to airport when you're properly relieved and told your Duty Station and if you have the time to do it you can go home and see them that way not everyone's families can make those trips so that leaves these soldiers to having to get home on their own
I feel you. My parents didn't show up, neither. I just grouped up with my battles that did have parents with them.
Ah same here. Luckily some of my battle buddies didnt have family there either so we all went out of base and watched a movie lmao.
Shit family day is overrated. I spent months in Kuwait in 1998 with the 3rd ID any during the homecoming many of us single soldier's didn't have anyone to greet us. We turned in our weapons and got drunk.
Lol, my DS's didn't want anything to do with meeting our families.
SAME. They told us, “We don’t care about meeting your families. As soon as everyone is gone, we’re going out for a well deserved drink and food. So leave QUICK.”😂
This is the company and battalion where I completed BCT in the summer of 1999. Wow. Charlie company Ninjas...Served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a 91D (surgical technologist) pre and post 9-11 and I can't thank my DRILLS enough for instilling LEADERSHIP AND READINESS into this soldier FOR LIFE!
Just graduated from fort Jackson on October 25th. We had a sweet ceremony! We all hid in the woods and marched out as a battalion through colored smoke down Hilton field to see our families
It's JexeR badass
Same, that's an unforgettable moment🇺🇸
same here im from fort jackson 2018 april graduate
cherlie 260th then got rolled bck to alpha 360th white phase
May 16th grad. That moment where I reunited with my mother, father and sister is probably my proudest and most bitter sweet moment I’ve had my whole life. Well worth it
wow this is waaaaay different from infantry basic training at fort benning. my drill sgt told us if we ask to take pics with our drill sgts when our families visit he's gonna smoke me and my parents, and my senior drill sgt said he'd fly kick us in the neck and karate chop us in the head.... HOOAH INFANTRY #noregrets
Everyone understands family & they do all this for their families and they love it. These trainees were away, and they like to thank their loved ones for believing and supporting them. #oneteamonefight
I understand, i wasn't down talking the support MOS's I'm just saying it seems we have different experiences. kinda like how our graduation is a huge ceremony at the national infantry museum. but you're right. HOOAH ARMY!
I think it depends on training battalion. Mine at Ft. Jackson was much like what you described.
CJ Alvarez 11b fox 2-19! lol this is some weird family military shit
CJ Alvarez Relaxing Jackson
But man seeing ur family is the best feeling like it’s impossible to explain
Or the worst when no one shows...
I didn’t get a family day due to Covid lol
A lot more interesting than my family day back in 2000. Like how it shows family members the transition from civilian to soldier. I like that the Army doesn't have to demean soldiers anymore. Soldiers earn respect not fear. Don't have to hit or cuss out a good soldier just explain to them the importance of disaplain. Good job drill.
This brought tears to my eyes, as soon as I get my GED I'm talking to a recruiter!
Update?
Family day damn it I remember we got smoke..
I cried thank you Ericka! lol.. Very nice video😊❤
Great video and well put together ! Thank you so much for sharing ! I will be heading to Fort Sill in a matter of months. Congratulations to all the new soldiers and their families !!! They must be so proud !
My older sister left for Fort Sill last week. Thank you for a little look into the future. I can't wait. 💖
That would be crushing to finally come to this day and are relieved to see family only to find out no one cared to show up.
Good seeing my old platoon from such a long time ago. Charlie rock!
I've been looking for this video since I left May 19, 2017. I miss my drill sergeants
I got the pleasure of doing my training at Fort Sill where this is filmed. My battery was just up the road from Charlie 1-31 at Delta 1-79. I just graduated from BCT on August 11th, 2023. As I write this, I am on my second week of training at Fort Leonard Wood, training as a Motor Transport Operator (88M), but I have to admit that I already miss being back there. I can recall many times walking past the 1-31 Battalion as our platoons marched to the DFAC everyday in the hot, +100F weather. The friends that I have made and the experiences we have gone through will always be great memories that I will gladly look back on as I go through life. Despite being tough on us, the drill sergeants had a good side they rarely showed, but it was so rewarding to get respect from them after braving through all the grueling tasks and “corrective training” to become disciplined solders. The one thing I wanted more than anything everyday was to get out of Fort Sill, but now thinking back on it, I wish I took the time to enjoy my stay there. Unfortunately for myself and a few of my battle buddies, our families were unable to make it to family day to be reunited. However, I will finally see my own family after nineteen weeks of BCT and AIT on October 13th when I graduate here from Fort Leonard Wood, and I will be able to return home to see my friends that I haven to spoke to since my leaving.
For anyone reading this, the experience is worth every bit of sweat and pain. You will make friends you that will understand you better than anything, and they will have your back through hell. It is only a short ten weeks for BCT, and it will fly by quicker than you expect. If anyone is interested in joining, talk to a recruiter. I joined the Army National Guard personally. I am trying to recruit a few more people as well so I can get points towards a promotion to E-4 currently.
Hi Ericka OMG you Tell me the true it's was awesome experience to Saw all Soldier in special my son, I cried like a baby.... i'm so really proud.
I'm glad you saw you soldier!! My parents cried too
I remember my family day it was 4 years ago, congratulations battle ❤️
It’s cool seein family day from the perspective of a different battery from the same battalion.
At least you got a family day
No ways, Drill Sergeant Brown is still there? Haha wow, I graduated front Charlie Battery back in OCT 2015, 1st PLT "Punishers"
Isaiah Agliam he’s retired now, I was in his last cycle
Was an honor graduating with these guys. BCT was so dope.
Good old fort sill, Charlie company 1-31 graduate ✌️ 3rd platoon deathdealers
I remember family day, the hardest part is trying not to laugh....they try so hard to make it legit and so do the soldiers and it’s just like....wtf are we even doing right now 😂😂
Woooow... I graduation Charlie 131 back in 2014! This brings back so many memories. Thank you
FORT SILL was where I did Basic Training at. Twenty years ago today I was in Reception. One of the greatest moments of my life.
I wanted to say thanks to the Drill Sergeants and the other members of the training officers now. Thanks again for their behaviors.
I remember Family day so vividly. Though we luckily got to spend time with our families in ACU rather than ASU's, and even on graduation we were lucky enough to be wearing Class B's. We marched out, and I remember we werent released from formation until your family came to get you, if you could see them (Of if they didnt come) you could fall out right then. I heard my DS call my name, and I fell out and BOLTED for the other side of the formation. My brother was the first one I hugged. Then I did what almost every BCT graduate on family day did first thing, went to the PX, got some Burger King, and boy did it taste different.
That is one of the days in my life I will never forget.
Out fucking standing! I like that hand to hand is still taught
I graduated from E-1/31 (3rd Plt, the buttheads of the battery) on 17 June, after being stuck at Sill for 14 months due to an ankle injury. Was originally at F-1/31 last Spring before it got shut down and A 95 took its old bays... spent over a year at Sill as a trainee before finally recycling back to Day 0. I remember LTC Pittman and CSM Donnegan before LTC Alexander and CSM Rankins arrived. Finally in AZ for AIT. As for 1/31, Always First!
Well, I'm glad you made it through! Hooah, for getting it done!
+Ericka Bernie hooah, Sergeant!
I have to say it was so AWESOME to reach the pinnacle of Graduation as our Drill Sergeant told us that we were molded into Men! As for the Gas Mask, we only had 5 seconds to get our Gas masks on and secured! It was also cool to see Mom and Dad at my BCT Graduation!
Omg I was in this platoon
This was nice
Charlie rock! DS Spencer was there during my cycle. So cool
I was in Charlie with SDS steinmann lol
I served with DS Maileoi, at Ft Bragg 315th MI BT. Great NCO!!!
this was nothing like my family day last year
Graduated 2 weeks ago from charlie 1-31, senior Drill sergeant summerfield was a badass
I just graduated basic at fort sill on April 3rd, 2020. We didn't get a family day or graduation day. I'm glad these soldiers got to reunite with their familys
I graduated from B company 321 FA back in 95. Buildings still look the same. Good times.
I go to Ft Sill this june, so hopefully my family day is like this
When I graduated in 2008 it was pouring rain on both family and graduation day. So couldnt do much of anything and only 2 units at a time had to do theirs indoors. However on family day I decided I wanted Burger King and I rarely eat BK. I got a mushroom swiss burger and waited 45 mins easily in line because everyone else had the same idea lol. After that just hung out in the hotel my family had. We didnt even wear Class A's, just ACU's lmao.
Got Dayum.... That was perfect D&C.
Nobody came to my graduation. No Family, and no girlfriend. Just me and the couple of guys that went to Ft Gordon for training, and then to Germany. It was the pivotal moment of my life. I learned who I was, not where I had been.
Awesome. I was in Fox 1-31 in 2012!
This shows me how much my drill sergeants didn’t care about our company 😢
Ah good old Fort Sill. I was actually in Echo 1/31 right next to Charlie
bravo 1-31!
At the end of the day they told our families we would be leaving from the airport so they all showed up at the International airport in El Paso. In the mean time we were boarding a plane at Biggs Army airfield down the road.
Great video👍
Graduated from C 1/31 in 1988. I spent alot of time face down on that drill pad lol. The place hasn't changed a bit.
Charlie 2-4th platoon. Summer of 82. We were in the old wooden, yellow barracks.
To this day I come back and watch this video. Wish 1/40th would’ve done something as creative as this!
wow this is way different than family day at ft benning at turning green or turning blue, yalls is soo relaxed
Them Drills & Young Soldiers are Strike!!!🤠😊💪💥💯
I being watching videos just to have an idea. What it’s like. I can’t wait to see my son!❤️

Things have changed sense ive gone through back in 13. congratulations
That was Beautiful. :-)
I can't wait to go to basic next summer. Fort Sill, I'll see you soon.
Echo 1-31...2013....those were the days
I miss this experience. I want to do it again. Been a whole 5 years.
Must have been nice to have family there. My family didn't come for me on my family day in 2005.
Graduated next door at bravo 1-31.. good times haha
No family day for me, after graduation I was off to Benning and Airborne school, family day when I got home.
Brilliant. Good to see a good mix of men and women which you don't get in the army in the UK.
That’s Charlie 1-31! I graduated there about two years ago.
I was stationed with the tall DS that did combatives demo. Thats crazy.
Man I wish I could go back and see Drill SGT Hill and Drill SGT M one more time even though they hated us 😂
Crazy the difference between basic training locations, I went to benning and our Ds didn’t wanna say a single word to our family’s lol
I remember all the guys with no family went off and got wasted at the bowling alley. :) DS gave them a pt session that they never forgot. Ouch
Echo 1/40th 2011. DS Bell, DS Hamilton, DS Wells, DS Campbell. Cant remember the other few.
Why am I even watching this! I don’t want memories of basic again!
Family day? Wish I had that.
Truth
I was in Echo 1-31 back in 2015
My brother graduates fort sill on Friday and I can’t go see him but I know he will do great :(
That female DS had a 36th Engineer Brigade patch for a combat patch.
Got emotional can't lie
Leave for basic January 29th, kind of nervous but I’m ready to see what this has in store for me
If this was Watson Hall, it use to be the 7th Tng Bn and it was known as 7000 area, back in the early 80's. While the Fox Hall was the 5th Tng Bn aka 5000 area. They were the only buildings for housing recruits in that area back in the day. All other basic trainees (13B's) were over somewhere by the airstrip in old WWII barracks...... lol. The outer shell of the buildings are still the same, except for the angled metal roofs. There was actually a wooden theatre down by the corner of Sheridan Dr & Berry St (behind the Chapel)..... and taxi's would hang out there on weekends.....
That’s fort sill Oklahoma. I recognize the battalion and battery
Hey its Charlie 1/31! I just graduated from that battery about 4 weeks ago. We completely repainted 3rd bay, including the killzone. But unfortunately due to the Corona virus we didn't have a family day.
That’s pretty cool, on our family day we marched out for like 10 minutes with our co talking then we were told to get the fuck out and not come back till nighttime. This was October of 2017 at Fort Benning though. Bravo 1/46
Graduated BCT Ft Knox C Co 2-46 Oct 2008. When we got done with graduation we were released to our families shortly after. None of this extra nonsense happening in this video. Then every jumped on buses to AIT the next day.
First?
Great video as always.
Im gonna apply for the British army soon my dad said i would not last 2 weeks so thats is going to just make me want it even more
I did basic at Ft. Sill back in March of 2000. I think females were just beginning to be cycled through. I remember having to use the urinals there. Yep, good times! 😜
Different basics handle family day different then others. We got smoked in front of our families cause 3 soldiers were late coming back. We had to be in the front lean rest doing pushups while going down saying hurry up and coming up waiting on you. We did it for 20 mins
There is part of me, that for whatever reason (I really don't know why, don't ask lol) dreams that if I became a drill sergeant I would sneak around on family day and try to scare people. But realistically, I would probably just hide somewhere and sleep
I did 2 great tours at Sill. My great grandmother lived in Lawton and I spent the weekends with her if possible.
And my dad’s buried on main post. It’s kind of weird seeing a headstone with YOUR name on it…
Holy shit had no idea that you were a drill sergeant at my battery Charlie 1/3 . My Senior Drill Sergeant was Summerfield haha
*1/31
Ahh Fort Sill. Just a flat ground high plane with fuck all to do on base. Loved the guys I met there though
Charlie rock!!!!
