One of the best albums ever made, it's a masterpiece.
Just great melody writing - there's about 5 different hooks in this track that will be embedded in your head for days

Your grandma must've lit up like a Christmas tree seeing you stoked to go.
This is way better then the shit ive heard since 16
That sounds like a cool story! These guys are awesome.
You're welcome grandson !
How this song relates to the lore of Armory Wars:
The first three paragraphs of this song detail Mayo's interrogation of Sizer. He is an IRO-bot, a robot, so instead of just killing him, Mayo literally chops his limbs off with a chain saw - "sever the limbs from his torso."
The next part starting with "slowly discarded" detail how Mayo tosses Sizer's remains in an alleyway. Claudio, Coheed and Cambria's son, who has been a recluse the past decade, stumbles upon his remains while arguing with Ambellina. He recognizes it as an IRO-bot, something Claudio is as well. He "fixes and restores" him.
The last part, "pull the trigger and the nightmare stops," harkens back to the interrogation. It is something Sizer was yelling at Mayo, begging him to kill him so that the interrogation can end.

@@kurtlamprecht93 That doesn't make any sense
I went to your channel Kurt, no relavent content to study. This song has gotten me through many times even when I was like 8 and didnt even know what suicide was. I understand that everyone has their own perspective but if you have seen Claudio live you would know he is a humble gentle man and this is a representation of his imagination mixed with humanism from his own experience. Your comment comes off as cold and ignorant. Suicide and or as in the comics asking others to take your own life is quite a big subject. We have assisted suicide here in America. Life is a journey between you and the particles you are composed of. If he expresses his sadness this way he is not a tool he is another human

I love the way this song builds its premise and alludes to the end.
A tragic story, but he remembers, in the end, through it all he remembers that death is not a horrible thing. Death is release, freedom.
“Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops”
I take an additional meaning on top of that. With lyrics like "write it in a letter that says reborn" something needs to change but there is a choice to be made. When over coming your obstacles, do you destroy yourself or the things in your way?

I love how this is a catchy, upbeat pop punk song that wouldn't sound out of place on a New Found Glory album or one of Fall Out Boy's first albums, but the lyrics are extremely dark
Coheed & Cambria can play so many genres
blurnsball3001 how?
But it is a pop punk song. I didn't say they were a pop punk band.
Might I add they do pop punk better than most pop punk bands.
Even then, pop punk isn't some objectively bad genre. Even if you don't like all the Hot Topic-ish bands, not all pop punk bands are like that.
The fact that they can play prog, metal, pop punk, and various other genres shows how versatile and talented C&C is.

When eyes go blind in this man of what could once become
Sever the limbs off his torso in sleep
And burn what remains so the world may now see
No longer...will we wait for your answers
Back to the hell where you've come from
Think of all the times you've once had

this album is timeless
I couldn't agree more. Early Coheed is magic in the way only truly good music could be.
This is a masterpiece. It's weird though, so most people will never like it.
Raises the question about art imitating life vs. life imitating art.
"Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops." On the surface, it could be about suicide, yet the main character in the Amory Wars story is a kind of cyborg with a gun for one of his arms. He is prophesied to use that gun against the corrupt rulers of his world. Still, he's got major baggage from the fact that his father (Coheed) murdered his two siblings (Maria and Matthew) at the beginning of the story. So at whom does he pull the trigger? Himself or his foes?
Could just be me reading too much into it but I think this is a metaphor for real life. When things are so bad that there appears to be no way out, where do you direct the aggression? Do you destroy yourself or do you make a stand against the things in the world around you (and within you for that matter) that have created the dark circumstances? Considering how the story actually ends, I think this song is actually very uplifting and hopeful:
"We'll fix him, restore him."
"Write them in a letter that says reborn."
you know the comics well, props
bit late, but isn't it coheed as the beast who has the gun for an arm?
+Ronn Fontana Apparently this particular song was about (and please forgive me that I forget a lot of the characters names this is about, it's been a while since I read up on all chronicle behind the music) the cyborg friend of Claudio being tortured, dissembled with a chain saw limb by limb, discarded in an ally, found by Claudio, Claudio and Ambellina fighting over rebuilding him, Claudio rebuilding him, and then him being haunted by his torture experience.
"Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops" is apparently a reference to him begging for death well being tortured which is what haunts him most after having been rebuilt. So he's hearing himself yell that at his torturer over and over again and he relives the memory. This is how this song is generally theorized to be part of the story behind the Coheed and Cambria cannon at least.
Ronn Fontana
"Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops" was Sizer's last words before Deftinwolf shot him in the head after torturing him by cutting him to pieces. The Rest is Claudio restoring him back to together.
Ronn Fontana bro so good got it tattooed on my fingers about 5 years ago best quote ever under rated song for sure

Wow! This song rocks! I've really been sleeping on Coheed for a while, all I've been listening to from them was Welcome Home and Deranged, this is now my favourite track from Coheed, still got a ton of other tracks to listen to though before deciding which is my overall favourite
Just before Coheed went on their full tour to promote the new album they went on a small national tour playing a 50/50 mix of older and newer stuff. I didn't know they were going to play all the old favorites and I just about choked on my beer when I heard the opening riff of Three Evils. The crowd went fuckin wild.

Im happy i recently purchased the record :D
I suggest any fans do so aswell, sounds really great.
We need to start supportin the artists again the $ from streams aint enough
I've had the physical copy since like 2005 xD
And this is my 2nd time buying it
+Nonexistanthuman
Yeah. I'm a musician myself, and I've more or less moved on from expecting people to buy physical records. Still, some groups are just so damn good that people are actually willing to buy their albums. I think as a fan you get so much more out of the music when you can hear the audio in HQ on a great set of speakers, rather than some chincy RUclips MP3 through a set of earbuds.
+Ronn Fontana You're aboslutely right its sad that people stopped buying music but it could change in the future who knows. Once youtube starts charging for music like pandora/spotify thats when life is gonna change for us once again. Im blessed to listen to Coheed & Cambria and along of many other bands/artists on the 80s/90s stereo set up i have obtained and piece together to get the most out of my listening pleasure.
First record that I get from my first job... very expensive on those years, by the way, I still have it... masterpiece!!
I remember when this album first came out and me and my boyfriend at the time skipped first period (in middle school) just to read all of the lyrics and try to figure out the next part of the story. I wish I kept our notebook that we used from like 2004-2007 to decipher lyrics and try to figure out what was going on before the next comic was released.

I don't know why, but this is one of my fave Coheed songs. lol I think it's the first one I ever heard. I think it was on a Warped Tour compilation CD. Amazing band!
Mine was a warped tour album but it was “Delirium Trigger.” ‘02 comp I believe. And now I’ve seen them live 6 times and own all their albums lol.
i remembered today being at a group event with my parents for people with disabilities and my dad telling me not to identify people by races or disabilities and thought about how great the world is also the vocals plus some of the words and remembered reading one of the amory wars novels, hardback and being intoxicated with pleasure so glad for my heroes
Not gonna make up an excuse and just fucking say I should have this album. I like C&C the more I hear their songs and I like the fact that I have not heard all of their music. Thank you for making such great music C&C this song was a gem.
Claudio is on to something here...when he says pull the trigger and the nightmare stops, forever you will run. ...I have tried to kill myself so many times and my father actually did but I was in a mental hospital after an attempt once and there was a video shown to us where people experienced the after life and one lady tried to take a bunch of pills to kill herself and she saw someone on the other side that told her that if she kept trying to kill herself ( and succeed ) then she would have to start over and over and over never achieving the peace of death and the after life . So this song is really giving the best advice ever, don't pull the trigger basically. And I, of all people, would love for that to be the answer in ending our living nightmares but for me I found the right meds, finally, after 25 years but anyways, don't give up and stay strong, my friends...just thought I could help someone with that story...♡♡♡

Growing up I hated myself, my family, everything. Abuse was all I had. I started fighting at age 4, dancing at age 7 and I lost mobility at age 13. I was in so much pain daily that whatever pain killer I was given I would take them more than what was prescribed because I wanted to die. I tried to hang myself, over dose, I was a child who lost the very thing that helped me stay out of the house. I started listening to Shabutti when I was very young and then Coheed came about. I was able to meet Claudio a few times and I told him everything. Telling him that all that he is and all that he creates was the only thing that kept me going. I'm 24 now. 5 hip surgeries, 3 foot surgeries, I even had a tumor removed from my head.... Next month I have a surgery to make my life a little easier and all I've done is listen to Claudio's voice and remind myself that once I'm better, I can see him again. Thank you Claudio for helping me through my 24 years
