I'm just so glad Josh is clean and back full time. I think he is the second most important person in C&C. He singers amazing backup vocals, mimicking Claudio's voice, and he really feels all the songs. Look at his Coheed tat, he was devoted as fuck, but opiates are a motherfucker and this was when he was still on them and you can tell a bit even tho he does a good job hiding it, we all do
because "he" is one of the hundred people that might see this and one of the ten people that'll understand it. He basically cleared it up for the rest of us
I recently had two seizures that completely changed my life. I lost connection to reality and suffered a break from reality. It felt like dying and coming back to life. Coheeds music has kept me grounded to reality and helped me through these hard times.
imagine writing this fucking song. A 7 minute piece full of fun little guitar parts, wonderful vocal melodies and harmonies, great lyrics, lots of mood... This takes TALENT. When people say rock is dead, they're just deaf really.
Claudio puts just sooo much passion and emotion into his singing in general!... Every single one of his songs are packed with feeling. I'm not gonna lie, I've noticed myself start tearing up when I sing along to certain songs by Coheed and Cambria. That's one of the many reasons why these guys are my favorite band :) just sheer passion for the music.
I think with the song actually being about him and how he let his brothers down, before beating his addiction and unimaginably returning to his dream that he took for granted; I can understand how he can feel the song so powerfully despite not even writing it and only playing tambourine here.
I watched this the day it dropped 9 years ago, I wish RUclips would tell me how many more times I’ve watched since then. My honest guess is in the 1k range, but it could be way off either direction. Thank you for capturing my favorite band at one of their magical points. Much love from almost 10 years in the future, back once again during a rough time in my life. ❤️
the thing about coheed that really gets me obviously besides the music! Is the fact that they are all SO humble, and just the sweetest people you will ever meet. I have met them multiple times..and I can't wait to continue seeing them. I saw them at a Newbury comics in North Attleboro MA years ago. it was an acoustic set and MY G O D it was incredibleeee
I won't lie, I was stoked for Chris Pennie joining the band. And I still think the Claudio / Travis / Mic / Chris lineup was brilliant. But it's in these sort of acoustic performances where you realize why Josh is THE percussionist for this band.
I like them both for different reasons, but it's amazing how much influence the drummers (seemingly) had on the musical style. It's just not something I've seen a lot of when bands change drummers. Most people didn't like Year of the Black Rainbow, but I thought it was brilliant. I also couldn't help but feel it was basically Pennie's album in a way (same for No World for Tomorrow of course, but I didn't like that album nearly as much). Having that dude around it was impossible for them to do anything but the most metal of songs, and I like that. But then Josh came and put his more melodic classic rock stamp on the Afterman albums, and that was also amazing as fuck. I wish they could rotate them every album =P
Jw Anderson To each their own. I will always, always stand up for black rainbow. It doesn't have the variety of genres that their other albums have, but it's a fantastic progressive metal album from start to finish.
+ForeverMasterless I'm with you man. Black Rainbow was my introduction to the band - I found Coheed because of the Dillinger connection Pennie gave them, and immediately fell in love with how dense and technical the album was, while still having excellent songwriting. And looking back, it almost sounds like a more "advanced" version of Second Stage.
It doesn't matter what version of this song I hear, the crescendo of the bridge to the final chorus always gives me goosebumps. Every time, without fail.
Gotta love the look each of them have. Travis: "Just another day on the office." Josh: "YEAH, FEEL THE MUSIC!" Zach: "I still can't believe I'm actually playing with Coheed! Don't screw up, don't screw up..." Claudio: "I fucking love this band."
Travis+Josh...singing Mother Superior...most tearjerked song of all Coheed...😭You know how inverse pyschology works when they tell you not to cry and you end doing it anyway.
Man, I'm just so impressed and in awe of how talented these 4 guys are. Today's music has lost so much touch from the definition of what a "musician" actually is. I'm inspired and rejuvenated every time I hear their musical genius. I originally started listening to C&C just on occasion, and one day my mother told me that they reminded her of my late father's favorite band, Rush. It was that point I really began to really delve into the stories behind the music and the meaning of the lyrics. I relate to their music on such a personal level after witnessing my father pull the trigger on himself. Mother Superior gives me chills every time the breakdown comes. Wish I could thank them for pulling me out of the darkness of my father's shadow.
Remember watching this song when they debuted it on a taylor guitar showcase.. but they hadn’t written the second verse lyrics yet.. or Claudio didn’t know it yet atleast lol..and I listened to it on repeat about a hundred times...
Claudio sits in his house and writes songs and sings them to perfection. I know this is an 8 year old comment. But this man and BAND (TRAVIS IS AN ABSOLUTE GANGSTER) is TIMELESS
Knowing who makes the music we listen to is important. Having followed Claudio Sanchez's work, I've gotten to take a look into his mind, his life experiences, his feelings, his dreams...if I hadn't taken the time to do so, he'd just be a nameless face that makes music. Music is not just an activity to pass time; it's a tapestry woven from the pieces of a person's soul. So how is that a "waste of memory space"?
Cara é tão lindo ver o Josh cantando essa música como se fosser um grande fã! E o mais legal disso que é uma música que ele não estava envolvido musicalmente, isso é lindo demais ver como os membros da bandas podem ser fãs dela também! Sem palavras.

@@DeadHopeOkimi this is literally josh's song. Its about his addiction. He need do nothing, and hed still be relevant here. damn, i listen to this version more than the mastered track. stripped down, bare bones, and this song is still full of heart.
I keep coming back to this video. It's just so good and timeless. You can clearly see the passion in the performance.
Show some respect for Chris man, he was a crucial part of the Coheed family for quite a while.
