  • Boot Leak on Ford KA. If you have a Ford KA and you have wet from rain water in the boot and the carpet is soaked the fault is probably due to the seal on the rear lights and NOT the tailgate seal. Nothing needs replacing, this is something you can fix (DIY) you will need to clean the rear light cluster and seal then fix the gap in the seal of the rear lights with clear bathroom Silicone Sealant or something similar. This Video is to help you both investigate and fix rain water leak before it causes damage to the carpet, electrics or car bodywork. This Video applies to the Ford KA only, Duratec OHC (Overhead CAM Engine) built between 2003 and 2008. I hope this information proves useful. Step by Step demonstration.

Thank you for this video, I followed the instructions and the cause of my leak was identical. Waiting for the next downpour to see if I’ve done the sealant correctly, but I now know what to do and how easy it is!

Discovered I've a leak on the same side. Will see if I've a gap in the light seal too.
And a small one in the centre, must be the locking mechanism.

Bathroom silicone sealant fixed it for us and still no more leaks since.

Yes, this fixed the issue, no further leaks even though left outside all winter.

From 3:10 we see that Ford made a stupid mistake: why make the joint on top of the light rather than at the bottom.
“No, we make the joint where the water comes down”.

Very surprised they have the same problem with the KA built in 2016 based on the Fiat 500 body design

@@yuckybear5026 Mine was leaking on the rubber gromet, shaped like a upside-down teardrop where the cables come through for the light's. I pulled it out cleaned all round the gromet and now it's stopped leaking. My wheel well was like a swimming pool 😂.
