Replacement of Expansion Tank on Ford KA
Water leak from under the expansion tank. Suspect hairline crack in the underside of plastic expansion tank due to age and plastic fatigue from combination of red hot water and high pressure over time. Video covers replacement and testing. No more leaks but please take care when filling or emptying water with antifreeze (corrosive) especially when the water is red hot and under pressure from the engine. Note that the engine must be switched off when disconnecting any pipes/ hoses.

My tank seems to be leaking also and it’s boiling over. Iv replaced the cap and it’s still overheating and leaking. Thinking of replacing the expansion tank to see if that works. Or else it’s likely a head gasket issue

Keep the cap for the new expansion tank. Recommend you purchase the new expansion tank direct from a Ford garage same quality as the original to avoid sub standard (copy) replacement where the cap doesn't close or seal tightly. Ford original part was about the same cost as those advertised on the Web.

@@yuckybear5026 just replaced it today with an eBay copy. Seems okay so far but I can see the car is still leaking from a lower hose somewhere and causing it to boil over again. Bit out of my depth to replace that, so going to leave it in with my mechanic this week and see if he can fix it for me
