I bought a bloody cheap x350 XJR (x356) with the air suspension very broken, and I replaced the air struts with BCRacing coilovers… Such a lovely ride and such a bargain!!! Gradually getting it done, bit by bit. My highdays, holidays, dry days and days off car. My pride and joy!
You had me going there with the car in the thumbnail. 😊 The X350 XJ6 has a lot going for it, but it's not for me, since I cover high miles on a budget. All the best to the new owner.
Lovely car. Eight years ago I had an x350 XJR in Silver with black and red leather, a joyous machine. Had it for a year then traded it for an e60 M5. Few cars can get near the XJs mix of comfort, elegance and value for money
I liked the car so much I was looking for it since it came out in 2002! So i bought one 2 years ago! I have less than 170000 miles on it, i was 2x in Germany (one way: 600 miles), everything is working, even the air suspension is not leaking (car is SORN since 4 months but is still sitting in correct height) and I have the 255/35/20 Sepang wheels from the XJR on it (the first owner ordered the with them) and the car looks amazing with them and the very nice blue paint! 10 previous owners so I paid 1700 for it!
I’ve been dailying my 1995 XJ6 Sovereign for the past few months now, it’s a lovely thing to drive. Only set me back £850 too… probably spent more than that in fuel by now!
I owned a dark metallic gray 2005 XJR for over 10 years. It was by far the greatest sedan ever. Period. The seats. They were literally the best seats ever built. I drove it across the United States. I could drive it all day and be willing to drive it another day without stopping. It was fast. Seemingly endless torque. Its gearing was perfect for street duty. 2000 rpm at 70mph. Any amount of throttle would produce immediate thrust. The smell. It smelled like royalty after it was 15 years old. If I still lived in the United States, I'd buy another. Regarding maintenance, I found them not to be overly costly. The air shocks did wear out. I found sources of new shocks for big discounts. The bushes wore out and needed replacing. To be expected.
I have a 2002 3.2 XJ8, which replaced my 2002 ST220 V6, and so I have a lot of love in my heart for this model of Jag, because it's essentially inbetween the two despite being a later car. Whoever ends up with it, I hope they get as much enjoyment from it as it's more than capable of bringing them 👍
Just spent 5 days in the Cotswolds with my wife in our French 2004 XJ8 Super V8. I love the X350 and we had more than 3 days of sunshine during that trip! British weather is not so bad 😂
I own a 2006 4.2 v8 sovereign, seriously a very good car. I've had various Mercedes, BMW's etc and by far the Jaguar is better, even the cost of owning a Jaguar is considerably cheaper!!!! And a big plus point is I can find it in the car parks lol. I've roughly spent £5k on repairs and a fancy jagdroid system ( still cheaper than the Germans lol ) in the 5/6 years of ownership. Absolutely fantastic car!!
The insurance company wanted to write off my moms car with now over 400 000kms on it after she got rear ended, what made them want to write it off, the barely scratched lower bumper plastic was too expensive to replace… the car was slightly scratched (punched a hole in the car that hit her’s grill) but not really damaged.
A lot of Ford design and parts but Jaguar turned out a good advanced Jaguar. Light, good power and reassuringly frugal. A Sovereign spec is available!! Not as good as the Super V8 Portfolio you reviewed!!! but that was a special car. The list of minor jobs was minor, just a hobbyist level list.
Enjoying the channel content Jay! I actually purchased an XJ X350 a couple years ago, in part due to your videos, and Ive loved it! Could you offer what was causing yours to sit on its arse when parked - one side of mine had an issue with the (just, fortunately) sensor. However, that side, and the other somewhat, drops down beyond where it should when parked still (after having the sensor replaced) Thanks
Most of the repairs are DIY, for the right guy. Air suspension could just need O-Rings. Costly labor at a shop, but maybe $20 in parts, for the right guy. All the worn bushings may be a few hundred in parts, …. I hope it goes to a deserving enthusiast with more time than money, who can enjoy it while improving it over the next few years.
By all means sell it James, but find yourself an X350 or X358 XJR. I bought a 2004 VDP in January that had languished in a driveway for a very long time. It needed a lot of work. I replaced a lot of suspension parts mostly Lincoln LS, (so cheap!) and converted the shocks to coilovers. Four new tires, a tune-up on that lovely 4.2V8 and a good clean and I now have a fantastic daily driver which not only rides beautifully but can get 28 mpg US!
Is it just me that finds the thumbnail pic odd? Looks like a 90's 7 series Beamer rather than the side profile shots in the video itself. Easter egg, JayEmm? 😉
This is what replaced the ZTT huh, there is something about old Jags that's charming. They manage to make such big cars with so little room inside, but that's part of the charm to me. Talking of the ZTT, I saw it on Facebook the other week. It failed an MOT on seat belt anchors being rusted. Maybe now is the time to grab yourself a V8 daily or maybe something with an even bigger engine. A V10 M5 estate would be awesome!
My Jaguar journey started with a 2005 X-Type 3.0 Sport Manual, super rare. I ruined the clutch and it was about 3K so I sold it, got a 2007 XJ8, absolutely adored it. Fantastically reliable, except for the air suspension. After it was totaled, I got a 2012 XF 5.0. However, I gave that to my significant other as I bought a model S but I desperately want to get a 2008 X358 with the Shark fins….. however, my dilemma is that for the same price you can get a really nice “current generation” pre-refresh XJ which I mean they look fantastic. So my wonderful dilemma is refreshed XJ 2008-2009 or 2011-2013 XJ/XJL 5.0?.. it’s quite the dilemma. Absolutely I would avoid the 3.0 supercharged due to reliability. electronic hand break, I had problems with my 2004 S Type until I replaced my original Jaguar battery in 2018. I never had a problem after that! I would love to buy this car but I live abroad and don't get to UK so often anymore.
Good decision to sell Jay. I had a similar V6 engine in my 2004 X Type and I hated it. It went like a rocket but it was very difficult to work on. I now prefer practicality to power and speed, which the police tell me I am not allowed to use anyway. The straight 6 AJ16 engine in my X300 is a fantastic smooth engine and is very easy to work on.
Really, the 3.0 was unreliable for you? That Jaguar finessed Duratec is wicked reliable and the parts are cheap cause you can literally get them from fusions. I loved my X type 3.0 sport manual but the clutch was not very enthusiastic and it didn’t like the rev. However, I purposely got the manual because the automatic has issues.
@@MugatuJag These old X Types are very nice cars but like most modern cars today they are over engineered,. I found my 3ltr AWD very difficult to work on with all the drive train.. And that's why I see so many going to the scrap or wrecking yards.Try changing the plugs and coils without removing stuff and then having to take off the intake manifolds. Don't try taking off the oil sump pan. It's a nightmare. Or replacing the alternator or the AC compressor etc. These little X Types would have been more practical with a simple 4 cylinder engine 16valve engine. And would have gone just as fast. I also have a 1996 X330 with the straight 6 and it is much easier to work on than the X Type. V6 3 Ltr. I sold my 3ltr and bought a 2.1Ltr FWD because it is a lot easier to work on. Both my cars have done less than 100,000klm and I paid top price for them. I have always preferred to look foolish paying more for a car that is really good, than being one of these guys on RUclips who are always buying the cheapest car at a bargain price. Anyway I wish you good luck with your car as they are a very nice cars. "Lord Luxurious" on RUclips
@@MugatuJag , we had a 2.5 V6 (an early one). Fully agree on the clutch. Rev wise the engine wanted revs, but the transmission seemed to be against it! To me it felt like it needed a far lighter flywheel. Biggest scare with them was the 4wd transfer box.
I would love it.... and miss my lovely awd XType, but in France now, anything built before 2012 will have to show a window sticker and be banned from using some roads and streets in cities, with heavy fines applicable! Expensive parts, I paid 420 euros just recently to replace a folding electric mirror on my Fiesta; no body repair required🥲
Let it never be said that Jaguar is unreliable. Very few cars would still be in this sollid condition after 200K. 5 owners and 30 years later. Beautiful car and wish I had one !

I love the video as always, but the ads snuck into the narrative are a little off-putting. I’d prefer none at all, but accept that this is how RUclipsrs have to make a living now with Google being arseholes over revenue streams from views. But perhaps it would be better to place the ads in a clear place where it would be less intrusive and easier to skip past for those who prefer not to be marketed to in that way?
Nice car, but not for me. I'll stick with my 18 year old Lexus GS300 and honestly? If it didn't need work, I might be tempted just because I do like a Jaaag
How do cars end up with history files like this? My van is 10 years old, has a service every year and has had 4 tyres in that time. So about 10-11 bits of paper in a decade that live with the manual in the glovebox
Hey JM, if ONLY I still lived in good ol' Blighty! I'd take the Jaaag off yer hands in a jiffy.......don't s'pose you could ship it to Perth, Western Australia?? NAH!! Course NOT!! Ahh well......

My sister has a black 2007 X350 with the 2.7 TDV6 engine, WJ07OLK. It's very fast, pulls like a train, is whisper quiet, and has not gone wrong at any time in the 8 years she has had it so far. It replaced a 52-plate X-Type which was surprisingly rotten underneath.
Headlight of jags expensive they all hella special no oem oe, taillights cheaper and yes there is ton of second hand also you can recondition headlight not a big job s-type and xj parts generally expensive
I have not seen the vid all through but looking at this car compared to my own series 3 V12 Daimler (Japanese import with zero miles ) the later car seems very cramped in the interior and particulaly the boot . My car is exceptionaly spacious . The later car seems to be full of hi tech gadgets that innevitably will fail at some point and be very expensive to correct . (Thats why both my 7 series BMW's went to the scrap yard) I dont know what the later Jaguar noise levels are but my series 3 is inaudible and makes for an outstanding long distance tourer returning 21 mpg . Progress in the later car .....hmmm it soesnt look as nice and stylish as the series 3 , nor does it have the pouncing looks of the earlier car , in fact the styling of the later car is positivly juvenile . So I wont be buying a later Jag and with so many ( new) series 3's being re patriated from Japan and S Africa , it is they that would seem to be the real bargains .
It was never a big deal for Jaguar the media hyped it like all new big cars. In reality 99% of people didn't give a flying truck It's not a bloody Lambo!
not to be that guy, but ... Is there a way to tag J's long rambling tales of car purchase (sometimes woe) videos so I can skip them? This and the one about the Macca are good and worthy tales, just not my cup of tea. I'd hate to give up on everything because I don't really enjoy some of it.

electronic hand break, I had problems with my 2004 S Type until I replaced my original Jaguar battery in 2018. I never had a problem after that! I would love to buy this car but I live abroad and don't get to UK so often anymore.
Having one of those aj30 engines dropped into my mx5 .
Man, I wish i had the time and spare cash to set right. I'd love to have something like this for a weekend car.
Can anyone tell me what car features in the thumbnail?
Looks like an old bmw 7 series? Maybe? I got really confused as well 😂
I would love it.... and miss my lovely awd XType, but in France now, anything built before 2012 will have to show a window sticker and be banned from using some roads and streets in cities, with heavy fines applicable!
Expensive parts, I paid 420 euros just recently to replace a folding electric mirror on my Fiesta; no body repair required🥲
Lemonade ad is a weird one
Very weird; and very off brand to start Shillong energy drinks 😮
Let it never be said that Jaguar is unreliable. Very few cars would still be in this sollid condition after 200K. 5 owners and 30 years later. Beautiful car and wish I had one !
You could do a fitness journey. Film it and start it as a new playlist. Just an idea 💡
Nearly all of those jobs you listed are DIY-able for someone willing to have a go and has a set of sockets and spanners.
@@lewis72 rear brake rigid line is a horrible job. Suspension etc. is relatively easy but invest in an ugga-dugga gun if you haven’t already. (Ask me how I know:-)
200,000 miles ?
That's a good looking car and hides it's usage well.
You had that Jag when you tested my Omega, I can see why you like it james 👍
Can I buy the hat?
Love what you are doing, noble.
if it was left hand drive, I would have made an offer ... I'm driving a F-pace now
that is some epic level shoehorning in for vid sponsor there dude
I love the video as always, but the ads snuck into the narrative are a little off-putting. I’d prefer none at all, but accept that this is how RUclipsrs have to make a living now with Google being arseholes over revenue streams from views.
But perhaps it would be better to place the ads in a clear place where it would be less intrusive and easier to skip past for those who prefer not to be marketed to in that way?
Why is the X350 in the thumbnail photoshopped to look like a 1980s Toyota Carina?????
Love that Jag mate !
Which car is in the preview photo?
Nice offer James.. ❤
Old Jags are a bargain right now. Prices have really fallen. They represent so much value for money.
These were beautiful ❤
Why my 94 XJ40 4.0 Sovereign in a similar colour is far, far better. The last car that Sir Alex Lyons had an input in.
Sir William.
Nice car, but not for me. I'll stick with my 18 year old Lexus GS300 and honestly? If it didn't need work, I might be tempted just because I do like a Jaaag
Could be mine too? Ahem….no thanks!
Hello from Yorkshire. Is the car sold already?
How do cars end up with history files like this? My van is 10 years old, has a service every year and has had 4 tyres in that time. So about 10-11 bits of paper in a decade that live with the manual in the glovebox
the mh370 footage is very real looking
I've just bought my 4th xj350 (2nd xjr) and have a 351 diesel as a daily! Enjoy
The USA lost all of its 6cyl Jaguar XJs in 1998 and that's a pity!
Shoot, I'd kick you an offer on it, if I was in the UK.
I'm quite interested in that Jag but how do I find your email? The email that is on your channel description just bounces back as unknown.
Hey JM, if ONLY I still lived in good ol' Blighty! I'd take the Jaaag off yer hands in a jiffy.......don't s'pose you could ship it to Perth, Western Australia?? NAH!! Course NOT!! Ahh well......
those black wheels look absurd !!
Weird in the thumbnail to me it looked like an old BMW E38!?
Different style of video, but you’ve earned my respect of your integrity. Your appreciation for cars that don’t always shine is genuine and I believe this video was made with the best of intentions. Keep it up. You’re my favorite car review channel. Have been for years! 🎉
Am also trying to shed some weight we will be super ligera in no time.
The segue into the drinks ad was very funny, like something from a sketch show 🤣
Just get the V8 XJ. For the money you won't get anything close to it. Same as the XKR really.
What car is in the icon/card or whatever, because that dark grey car is NOT a Jaaag, look like a Nissan?
These are awesome cars, phenomenally comfortable, handle quite well and are reliable.
$1,000 (pounds?) for a HEADLIGHT? None secondhand? Madness.
Headlight of jags expensive they all hella special no oem oe, taillights cheaper and yes there is ton of second hand also you can recondition headlight not a big job s-type and xj parts generally expensive
A car with a lot of history = breaks down and needs fixing a lot
What you need is an XJR…
Who puts a Porsche Club GB sticker in the window of a Jag?
Great story, no doubt sponsored by Pinocchio.
Hello buddy how do I put a £900 bid in for my son. He has just started his second year at college (basic engineering) and has managed to get a job at Halfords.
Not bad for a boy on the spectrum with needs and refusing on medication.
This would give him an amazing opportunity to invest his new learned skills and enjoy. Who knows you may buy it back when fixed.
Love the kids by the way.
Some more than others but I do enjoy, thank you
