Hello, Scotty. I’m not disagreeing here, but shouldn’t the equation also consider the recession happening in this country that might be causing these problems?
The car I leased last year it's a 2023 SUV, 70% of the tech including the infotainment system I don't even use. I connect my cell phone to the head unit via Bluetooth and away I go, I just use the volume knob 😄.

glad I never got rid of my ‘92 Ford F250. Even if I end up putting $5000 into it, it will outlast a new one and it is still paid off. Bring back the window wings, hand crank windows and an old manual transmission.
Just shows how lazy people have become. I remember the dat of no power steering or brakes or electric push button windows. Back when you hax to pay attention to what you were doing instead of having your head in your cell phones to put it polightly. Lol
Completely agree. I bought a 1990 F250 just months ago. 4.9L 300 cid 6 cylinder with 5 speed manual transmission. Love the hell out of it. More electronics in the radio than the rest of the truck.
I have an 87 6.9. Same here. Over half a million miles and still chugging right along. I have newer vehicles, but I will never get rid of that old F250. It's like wearing an old pair of gloves. And I've sent several modern Ford diesels to the truck graveyard, but old trusty starts and runs every single time.
@@JonathanLouispolansky Y espejos de accionamiento manual (interior o exterior) Los eléctricos NO se utilizan casi nunca... y se rompen fácilmente en el tránsito alocado, además cuestan lo que NO valen... (costo $$$ vs. utilidad)
Ford just make a reliable car with a real ignition key.. Ditch the direct injection and variable cam timing while you are at it.. We want reliability !!!
$5000 for an F150 tail light....$2900 for a center touch screen....just make a basic 1/2 ton truck and corner the market. My 1978 CJ7 runs perfect 46 years later. No tech at all..v8, pws, pwb, 4-speed, ac and heat...thats it. Manual windows.
My 79 cj7 golden eagle still gets me where I want to go. It’s the 304 with a turbo 400 tranny, gas mileage sucks but it just goes and goes. No rust still looks great original paint and graphics some patina .
All American car companies have destroyed their brands. It's over with now. They are on their last gasps. They should be done within the next 10 years .
I prefer older models now. The manufacturers messed up thinking ALL of their buyers are fools instead of half of them these days. I’m not a 100k throwaway buyer or a trade in every 3 years buyer. I keep everything I buy for a while so it has to hold up to at least 250k miles.
I still use mine lol .I'm close to 50 an inherited all my dad's tools when he passed...plus all mine ...he would shoot me an call me stupid If I ever paid over 30 G's for any vehicle ..I have a 78 chev truck , a 88 Monte Carlo an a 93 Firebird ...93 is as far as I'm going. I do my maintenance an repairs Bring back roll up windows , FK heated seats 😂😂😂
Bring back 60/80s style vehicles ..Heck even ur mom can fix those years of vehicles .. I was 7 changing carbs an heads with my dad ...pulling motors by 13, cars had 5 or 6 main wires
This tech is not only unnecessary but dangerous. Had to deactivate the automatic braking after brakes were sloon out of nowhere a few times. Also the maintain lane feature sometimes follows the wrong lines in road. These gadgets just aren’t necessary. And frequently malfunction. Especially in dense urban areas like NYC
I've actually never seen a normal driver make regular use of lane steering/correction unless they were on a highway roadtrip. It's an alarming and unsafe feature on any other kind of road. It's also the reason I don't want to be anywhere near a "self driven" car on the road, far more so than the autonomous braking.
All this tech is so that in the future all cars will drive themselves. In the future, no one will "drive" their own car. You won't even "own" the car. Ford just applied for a patent so their cars will "repossess" themselves! It's coming.
I have to say it. I HATE SUNROOFS. I don't want one period. I want a 6-cylinder engine without a turbo. Are you listening Subaru?!? (also key fobs, and that crap where the engine shuts off until you start driving away...I will turn it off when I want it off) Can you permanently override that crap?
Ive said for years. Touch screens should be illegal. I hate them and so distracting.nthis comes from a 36 year old dude and a lot of people I know agree
Hate the damn sensors in front..love and hate with the factory auto start..hate auto engine stop and start..sensors in windshield for whatever..I'm done it's to much
People selling used regular cars say "You got to hurry up if you want it though! There's more people interested in it!" People selling used EVs say "If you're interested in it, hurry up before it depreciates in value even more!" 😂 Yeah, don't buy an EV...
@@garymuhlenforth7251 dunno. motown? give you a car free with the spinner's latest spinner? always preferred the emeralds myself but depends which car they gonna gimme free with the record...
I like the don’t text laws and the auto industry is putting a dam tablet with a touch screen in the middle of the dashboard so you have to look at it to see what you are touching. 😂😂😂😂😂
Also, in my opinion, Forward Collision Warning. I don't need a car to tell me there is a car in front of me. Like you said if someone can't see a car in front of them, they shouldn't be driving.
It is, but I'm sure the auto manufacturers see a possible eventual upside, too. Used EVs are (comparatively) so cheap because of their battery drain and decreasing range. That's a real issue regardless of manufacturer. If EVs become the sole option for consumers to buy, there's a chance cars might become as disposable as phones.
I have 2013 Chevy Suburban with 135,000 miles to date and not a single problem except for new breaks pads.. Has a mileage range of 600 miles per fill up.. From what I’m reading about new automobiles I think I’ll keep it..
@@ryanbrandt5404 lmao don't use the readily available knowledge to press him, that would make sense edit my 99 1500 got up to about 33 - 35 for about 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank on a trip from SoCal to the Gulf ,so I mean maybe, but still not the point we were going for. The enemy isn't fuel , it's money spent. The Prius is still Top Dog
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram. It has some body work needs but runs solid and will tow a house. When the frame rusted out I had it replaced, cost me $14k all told and was worth every penny.
I'd pay extra for a new car with all the tech they had in them 30 years ago. Mostly analog baby! The tech junk has destroyed the driving experience for me. I want a computer at home and a car on the road.
I don't need 30 years ago, but circa 2010 would work for me. Electronic ignition and power windows are nice, what I don't want is a car that's always spying on me.
Breaking up the company is the choice of people who don't know how to run the company. When the CEO of IBM told the board he wanted to break up the company, they fired him and found someone who knew how to run it.
Car manufacturers have totally forgotten the guidance --- high tech must be balanced by high touch. I completely agree with Scotty --- don't solve problems that don't exist.
I tried to buy a bare bones truck recently… roll down windows, no radio as it’s a work truck, they said it would cost even more because I would have to special order the truck. Needless to say I’m still driving my 2003 gmc . I’m done shopping and dealership doesn’t seem to care except for the endless calls early in the morning. lol 😂
First thing I did to my 2022 Honda Ridgeline was to install 2 mods. One to deactivate the Autostop feature that shuts off the engine everytime you come to a stop and the other that deactivates up to engine 3 cylinders while cruising. ICE engines are NOT designed to convert cylinders from producing power to producing compressed air.
Well, if democrats are in charge, they will bail them out once again and we don't even have the money to bail out these car manufacturers in the first place, one more 35 trillion dollars in debt. Our country is so doomed. If we don't get a Republican back in office, it's gonna suck more. But that's just my opinion. I'm an independent voter. 10:27
Tech that I don't care for...Start/Stop, Electric Power Steering, Turbo mini engines, Traction Control, Auto Drive, Electronic Stability Control, CVT, etc. Like someone on this comment thread said, new throwback models might be a good idea.
I drive a 20 year old Ford SUV/Pickup in 2024. 200k on it. I just change the oil an do minor maintence.....IT KEEPS GOING!!! Tempted to just rebuild the engine & transmission and it will STILL be cheaper than a $600/momth truck payment!
Exactly, the Chinese did not invent this technology. It was invented in the USA. It was discontinued for two reasons, it can't be weaponized and it's so corrosive they can' make one that lasts more than 5 years. Maybe the Chinese have figured out how to make one that lasts longer.
It amazes me that the people who are the CEO of large corporations are not even smart as the common person who would say “if you can’t plug them in all over the place this is stupid.”
What we have here is overcomplication. Once you had to know about the capabilities of the car, how to drive it and how to drive. Now the car is so complicated so idiots can ride.
Something I learned from Binge watching automotive history videos every single time a government slaps mandates on the industry it basically collapsed and completely fails. There is no examples of any industry thriving when burdened down with mandates of any sorts.
Government, particularly Leftist government likes to try to tell private business what to do. Also they like to rob the taxpayer to try to Force their hands. With them also being the $ printer it really is quite f'd up.
So true. When HD begged the the govt to impose a teriff for jap bikes over 700cc to protect their market (they were losing ground) the govt complied..and then the japs developed amazing bikes below 700cc. The Japanese did such an amazing job in that segment there still aren't any prevelant American bikes in that size.
Not surprised. The fiesta ST was my favorite car ever and I was a gonna be lifelong Ford customer. Then they go in discontinue every single car they make. They don't even sell a single vehicle I would purchase. I don't want an SUV truck, van crossover or electric vehicle . The mustang is not a performance vehicle I'm interested in. Literally nothing in the entire lineup I would buy.
Whether it’s a $100 cordless drill or a $100,000 Tesla, if you allow the battery to fully discharge, it is toast! I wonder if the car Dealers are aware of this. If EVs are sitting in a field somewhere and not being charged, they will need new batteries.
Moore’s law states that the number of transistors (ICs) on a chip doubles every 18 months. That translates into much faster memory’s and computers. That applied to BEVs means that your brand new toy is a dinosaur in 18 months, that is, if hasn’t already caught fire.
The US had a molten salt reactor. It was shutdown. The problem is molten salt is highly corrosive. If the molten salt reactor leaks, you have to shut down the plant. You can't just clean up the spill.
Once a leak or issue arises in a Thorium Reactor the Thorium Salts are pumped in to a sealed containment unit under and away the Reactor. Thorium Reactors are far more efficient because they use up 98.7% of the material,( and the point of radiation is no more than what is experienced when you walk outside your home!!!), whereas a normal reactor of today only uses up 2.3% of the Fuel Rod and it has to be buried because it is still highly radioactive!!!
It seems like they are all more concerned with "cool tech" stuff like how many cameras, how big the screen is, how connectable it is, how many buttons you can push, how many ways it will help you drive etc... than putting out a quality vehicle that will be reliable... Dump the tech!!!!
I would not trade my 26-year-old Chevy suburban 4 x 4 for any new vehicle. 300,000 miles on the clock and she still runs like New, he did leather seats work, AC works perfectly, and I still get 500 miles to a tank.
There are reasons Americans don’t use liquid salt with nuclear power. It’s corrosive. When the heat stop it can solidify. Pure water doesn’t have those two issues
These electric carts are one giant boondoggle. These monstrosity charging stations will soon be rusting away and it will be a job removing all that ugly piles of junk.
Manual roll up windows , Wing vents , Floor Vents, pull out headlight control, and I dont need a integrated centrol computer for everything . a Simple radio ..... A basic Key / heater and AC car or Truck
Bahhhh you dont need that AC or heater…thats just too much tech! Yes no need for motorized windows-too fancy! Just strain a muscle or ligament trying to roll up the window by hand! Hell they need to take out those stupid seat belt things too-nobody else’s business if I kill myself in an auto accident than mine!
I learned to drive in a '72 VW Microbus. It had no comfort features, wind up windows, manual transmission and no power. It was one step above a military vehicle. I can do without gadgets and electronics just fine.
Last new car I bought was a 2015 WRX, sold it after 5 years and 30k miles. Now everything I drive (except for wife's car) was made before 1975... it's so much easier despite the potential safety issues if I'm in a wreck.
electric park brake button. Did we need it? I didn't have a problem with a mechanical pedal or handle. The button means your rears have to be electrically controlled. means screw piston, means twisty tool to retract, means special tool and extra time for brake job. Means a simple brake job just became that much more expensive.
We purchased 2006 Subaru and 2007 ram for $3k a piece 5 years ago. Both have around 200k miles. I will continue to rebuild them to avoid buying a newer car, nothing newer than 2010.
I remember back in the mid 70s nuclear power was really being hyped up big time. It was said that by the year 2000 100% of the U.S. power grid would be supplied by nuclear reactors. Then Three Mile Island happened. That brought the nuclear craze to a complete stop. We won't ever have 100% of the power grid supplied by nuclear and we won't ever have 100% of the car fleet in this country be EVs.
Wow!, sir some of the things you report to us , feels like a slap in the the face about the car industry and I don't own a new car but you just shown me you can't trust the car companies, because a lot of reasons from cheap part and greed , and customers are getting tire being burned Wow!😢😮.
Back in the tuner days, I was a DSM guy. When you informed me that HONDA was partnered with GM to make Acuras, I LOL'ed. Stay classy, 4G63. Classy and boosted.
Relatives of mine drove from Chicago to Green Bay WI. last week 3 hr drive .They did not realize they rented a electric car. Barely made it to Green Bay, last I heard they were going to rental company to drive back
That’s why I drive my 74 SD455 T/A Unbelievable reliable it’s pennies to do maintenance. My advice buy only new and pay higher money for true quality parts if you need to buy any part, don’t drive as if it’s a race, my car has just about lasted me my life, Ohh yeah anticipating what ALL drivers might do around you be prepared and never have the spirit to get even you and your car will be alive to share your stories.

The lane departure doesn't account for all the holes and bumps I have to avoid on the road over here. I turned this thing off.

It is, but I'm sure the auto manufacturers see a possible eventual upside, too. Used EVs are (comparatively) so cheap because of their battery drain and decreasing range. The US had a molten salt reactor. It was shutdown. The problem is molten salt is highly corrosive. If the molten salt reactor leaks, you have to shut down the plant. You can't just clean up the spill.
The salt actually contains most if not all that is radioactive about them, the clean up isn't really an issue as far as contamination is concerned...
