Great video on this common problem with Fiestas of the last 15 years. The Fiesta has been fairly good (mechanically, anyway), but my 2016 leaked right away in the same areas. Not much change from '09 to '16, in terms of crap Ford quality control. And you wonder why Ford stock has stayed around $11 for almost two decades, while GM is consistently over $30....
as the air vents are lower how does it make it's way into the boot well? I know it fill up but where is the exact entry point into the boot from the vents?
Great video, I am having this same problem on my Grande Punto 2007. The leak appears to start from the back around the same area in this video and leaks all the way through to the driver footwell. Have put down some sealant and ducktaped the s**t out of the rear! I have also sealed around the lights, praying that this woks!
Yes, probably bad sealing under the stoplight, and under rear bumper you have few duct tapes that need to be resealed and put silicone arround air venta
@@stephenm353 i put silicone on all parts where two steel sheets met. They used point welding instead full weald. It was good till few days. Silicone rotted. Now I bought red silicone for gutter and will dismantle complete rear end of the car and seal every hole.
I've also had this in the same area it runs through the same part into the back corner of the boot. Top part I have sealed and around the 2 boot hinges. Having had some rain last night there is still water getting in from above , any ideas where else to check please ?
Hey, I am having water in the same areas as you have shown, but I also have water marks on my roof, I have a feeling it’s coming from the roof rails, is there any advice on what to do? Many thanks Jen
@@jenniferleary5713 doing this repair myself at the moment. I peeled off the roof gutter strips (they’re just held on with double sided foam tape) and I’ve filled any holes or cracks in them with grey silicone sealant before refitting the gutter strips. Pay particular attention to where the roof meets the rear of the car - the welded seam there had cracks in on both sides for me. Good luck! If you have a sunroof, that’s a whole different ballpark - there’s a good video on RUclips for that if you search ‘ultimate leak repair Ford fiesta’ by Speedy Garage
@jenniferleary5713 I used sealant around the hinges and anywhere I thought water could come in. I managed to also use a waterproof tape for the holes inside the bumper

I'm confused by this too. I've seen the air vents mentioned elsewhere but don't understand how they're connected / leak water in the boot.
Does this happen on a ford fiesta sedan???

I've sealed top welds but water still getting in if I pour water onto roof. could it be the light unit? the seal around it where the bulbs go 🤔

@@arslan4638 yeah I'll need to do the same but here in Scotland we don't get enough dry weather to work outside lol

The roof rails, centre brake light, poor rubber seals around the tailgate?

How to seal rear air vents?
Typical ford
Typical of any car. They all leak when they get to a certain age.
