The atmosphere in these old Games was incredible. Especially tomb raider. You barely find such vibing games anymore. 90s and 00s were the peak for Video Games no doubt
Me too, I'd go to Lara's Mansion of the menu every single day and play this in the piano room. Then I'd lock the butler in the fridge, start a level and panic die, routine stuff haha.

Out of the original TR trilogy, this one has the most ethereal theme of them three. TRI depicted the loneliness and magic, but TRII's theme shows you the wonder of everything you're going to see. It's like it opens up and welcomes you into the adventure. I love it so much
Those two themes are where Core Design's Tomb Raider games were at its peak. 3, 4, 5 are alright. The first two TR games are ones I can go back to and play .
I love how peaceful and tranquil the main theme is, it really makes you feel the love you have for Lara (for those like me who crushed so hard on her back in those days) and that you were ready to go on a journey with her again.
I'm 19 years old now and this game came out basically when I was born I played it at the age of four five six seven and now lol I have always loved everything about this game from the story the nostalgia of being that age when playing it the music something definitely sets this game aside from games in today's time it had more thought put into i believe personally.. omg i'm born in 1996, too! unfortunately i never played this by myself when i was younger.. but i started watching walkthroughs when i was 10 or something :)
Lol Tomb Raider II was my first TR game. I played it with the pack-in PC Demo that came with DeathTrap Dungeon back in the day. I remembered testing out Commandos, Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider III, and several other ones that caught my attention - during that era. I remember the Tomb Raider II PC Demo didn't come with main theme music ; though I do remember Venice being the main highlight of the game back in 1999 - 2000. By 2003, I got my first Playstation 2 along PS2 games. Later that year, my aunt's husband had a stack of PS1 games for me to test and play. I was pretty stoke that he had TR I & TR II in his library. When I booted the 2nd game on PS2, I was awed by main menu theme. Reminiscent, soothing, relaxing, and simply made me excited to play and beat this game. Still have those two copies to this - especially in 2021. One of the best Tomb Raider games from the Core Design era .
Listening Classical Lara theme makes me cry a bit, the classic Tomb Raider saga was the few games my Dad used to play, everytime I see a classic Tomb Raider gameplay or something related I remember me being a child and watch him playing at PC, he passed away the last year, so it's double nostalgic for me 🥺
exactly the same ! however my dad f*cked off and doesnt care for us anymore...but very sorry for your loss x I just really wish i could play TR1,2 and 3 again :(
Venice was my all time favourite level and "Classical Lara" earns a spot in my heart for being one of the most repeated songs of my childhood. Since TR 2 was my first ever played game and I loved Venice so much, I ended up playing over and over again.
I will never forget the amount of time me and my Dad played these early TR games in the late 90's, such good memories. Thankyou CORE Design... and RIP :(
+grillerg Same! The good old father and son moments. I remember i always just wanted to shoot at everything, so my father gave me the pistols with unlimited ammo while he did all the movements. The best game ever. loved it. even though they were freaking hard, we finished them over and over. tomb raider 2 and 4 was my fav and only games from the series even tho i bought all of them now. these are the memories..
you can get it back ;) go to gooel and type any Tomb Raider game you want for ex Tomb Raider 2 download pc or pc download yo uwill get some links like Ocean of games, get pc games etc....
I think this is the easiest TR game. TR III much, much harder in terms of puzzles. In the subway levels you have to press a button in order to turn on a light so you can suddenly see a coin (that was obviously not there before), then you have to put that coin in one particular ticket machine (there are like 6 machines and I believe it only works on one, which doesn't make sense at all ) to obtain a ticket that allows you to continue. Talk about overdoing it.
What about the subway level in London: turning on a light in order to see a coin (that obviously wasn't there before) so you can use it in of the ticket machines (and it only works on one, the others won't work I believe) to obtain a ticket. Talk about obscure puzzle elements.
Where some may say the old TR are the best, some will say the new ones are. I for one like the old ones more but I don't get offended if someone disagrees. The world is built of different people with different opinions. Not everyone is gonna agree with you its very close to impossible.
Every time I hear the main theme, I get so overwhelmed with emotion, tears start to form but never fall from my face and I remember how she was my first strong feminine role I'd ever been exposed to which paved the way for my fascination with strong feminine characters in almost everything in my life from TV shows like sailor moon and the powerpuff girls, to more historical figures like Joan of arc and Cleopatra. Lara Croft was an absolute revolutionary piece of gaming history and gaming society. no game that has been created since the classic tomb raider games has or ever will carry those same feelings, those same vibes, puzzles, stories...this series especially the first two games were absolute masterpieces that no game will ever be able to match.
I remember playing TRII back in the elementary school on my friend’s PS1 in between playing it on a PC. My friend was so in love with TR 1,2,3 and 4 that I got infected as well but didn’t manage to get up to 4th part much. About 5 years ago TRII was released to iOS and I immediately installed it and have played for years. It got removed off AppStore in the meantime but I still had it. Unluckily with some another iOS update the game stopped responding to touch but I still keep it. I used to play it on my iPhone whenever I was on a plane trip, I would put on headphones and dive into Venice and later on Wreck of Mariah Doria.
My grandad used to play all the tomb raiders I have fond memories of sitting there and watching into early hours of the morning with cups of tea and a slice of fruit cake , miss those days 😔
Anse is my favorite. It's the dagger's theme and only plays in the biggest, hardest levels like temple of xian, wreck of maria doria and opera house, all in dark areas.
Maaaaaan, back when I used to play games on my PS just for the sake of listening to the beloved music......and when I used to immerse myself in the world of the game despite their limited graphics! 🥺 Thank you so much, Nathan McCree and Core Design! 😭🙌🏽
Pas que de la nostalgie, les anciens tomb raider (avant 2013) était je trouve plus intéressant, Lara n'est plus la même du tout et elle a vraiment plus de personnalité maitenant. Les jeux sont aussi bien trop faciles maintenant :/

Just replayed TR1 2 & 3, the best games I ever played Music great, a bit sore on your eyes , but playability superb, you could lose yourself in time playing these, but when replaying some of the levels it was strange flying through levels I had been stuck for days in...
I remember exploring the great wall, the sound of her footsteps on the water... The tibetan levels so amazing views, the scary sea levels... I was so fascinated that I cheated with a gameshark (action replay) using the moon jump to see what was beyond the walls, at the bottom of the flooting islands or as high as I could get... Man, how i miss that time. Along with crash bandicoot 2, that was the very first game I played for ps1 that came on my demo disc.
Oh my god that first song menu music almost made me wanna cry just wish I can go back to that time and enjoy life as a young kid playing the best video games ever made
I just played in the Tibet in the game... I listened to this masterpiece 11:42 , played riding the snowmobile until I crashed and exploded myself up and then came here just to play this track on loop like forever ♥
Siempre serás mi favorito TR II, por ti comencé a amar la saga y por ti llegué a querer mucho los juegos que involucraban resolver un misterio sin necesidad de guías. Personalmente el mejor juego de TR.
I find it interesting that for this period (1995-1997), Tomb Raider video games have already brought such good music! I mean those pieces are really well done, they aren't just sounds but they're true classical compositions!
Yeah, and there was this urban legend saying that you could go beyond Lara Croft domain's gates and follow a path to the local village. I was so disappointed when I finally managed to pass the gates :-(
I didn't know the name of "Chambers" until I found it on here. I remains one of the most unsettling and sinister ambient tracks I've ever heard in a game.
This brings me back so many years. When I first sat with friends in front of their television, watching the oldest of us to try get through the Great Wall level. I have only known Super Nintendo games back than and this really blew my mind. Nowadays we laugh at these graphics but back then it was so new and exciting. I am playing this game again after so many years (I never passed the Opera House level as a child and now, as an adult, just finished the Maria Doria parts) and I still feel so happy when playing this game. The puzzles, the quiet moments that really suck you in, and the T-Rexes and spiders (and even the graphic) still creeps me out at times. I love new games but Tomb Raider still has a special place in my heart.
my first Playstation game - I liked how no element dominated the game and had a great blend of shoot-em-up with peaceful exploration and little puzzles - for a game which sometimes required good timing at least it was fair - tough in places but fair. Wasnt it this game that had the cavern with lots of rock slopes and pedestals and to get across you had to make Lara perform nearly every single move in sequence and on time - hard but achievable great music and voice acting too
Being the same age as this game, It really made me wish to be born early enough to actually appreciate this game in its prime when it got first released. I still have my dad's copy of Tomb Raider 2 and the demo disk back when those were popular.
As good as the current tomb raider games are, really enjoyed shadow of the tomb raider, always loved the original games so much. The soundtrack was amazing in this game. Really stayed with you after you were done playing. New games have a good score but it doesn't even come close to these themes. Still find myself in the shower doing the vocals, sounding like some Tibetan monk
This soundtrack really takes me back to the time when i had just started to get into pc gaming. Along with C&C Red Alert 2 and Age of Empires, TR 2 was one of the first real pc games I played. The 2013 Reboot trilogy was great and all, but TR 2 is still my fav Tomb Raider game of all time, if only for the nostalgia.
Not only I did beat this game too many times, I actually was not able to find a tutorial that lists all the secrets so I had to discover them all and write one myself:) I love most of the levels. I killed the dragon literally thousands of times before I learned of the dagger, somehow the animations did not play for me back then, so I did not know about the transformation and the dagger:D I got really good at jumping and evading while battling the dragon for so long and not being able to permanently kill it:D
so much nostalgia, this was the first game i played as a child, and i was immediately convinced, because it was so different and looked cooler than all the other games on the shelf, i still remember how addicted i was to this game :-)

Well..now, it's a toss up! 1 used to be my personal favorite but, lately THIS one has been bangin' around in my head - for the last 2 consecutive weeks! I LOVE this melody in ALL of its iterations. And now..they're gonna re- release ALL THREE (1, 2 & 3!) together, remastered but not altered like "Anniversary" was. From what I gather, they're the ORIGINAL gameplay mechanics..only, the way we WISHED it looked back then. I can't wait for Feb. 14th myself! But, the themes ? Masterpieces! Absolutely beautiful!

Can still remember my mum renting this game from the video shop so we could all play together. We kept renting it until we finished 🤣!
Happy memories.
Man that Main theme and Venice theme are kicking way too hard to nostalgia feelings. I miss those times *cries
my first Playstation game - I liked how no element dominated the game and had a great blend of shoot-em-up with peaceful exploration and little puzzles - for a game which sometimes required good timing at least it was fair - tough in places but fair. Wasnt it this game that had the cavern with lots of rock slopes and pedestals and to get across you had to make Lara perform nearly every single move in sequence and on time - hard but achievable
great music and voice acting too
Being the same age as this game, It really made me wish to be born early enough to actually appreciate this game in its prime when it got first released.
I still have my dad's copy of Tomb Raider 2 and the demo disk back when those were popular.
Soundtrack takes me back to high school late night gaming sessions.
Tomb Raider 2 is the best game ever I have completed it loads of times
4:54 This is what I came here for! A classic!
i always wondered if that was composed or from an actual classical theme. If it's from McCree then that is madly amazing
Definitely raising my nieces and nephews on these games just like I was!
The songs bring me good memories ... thank you
my father had every tomb raider on pc. there’s something about the first song that brings me nostalgia from my childhood, like nothing else.
Marco Bartoli dislike this
As good as the current tomb raider games are, really enjoyed shadow of the tomb raider, always loved the original games so much. The soundtrack was amazing in this game. Really stayed with you after you were done playing. New games have a good score but it doesn't even come close to these themes. Still find myself in the shower doing the vocals, sounding like some Tibetan monk
Beautiful game.
I miss my innocent heart.
I use to press the play button ▶️ on my CD driver on my IBM pc back in 1997 just to listen to all these tracks😁😁
7:54 has to be the most unsettling one for me
Same it's so eerie
You mean 11:12
Just beautiful and brilliant soundtracks. still the best so far.
the tomb raider music is now a live show...check it out on facebook or online....the tombraider suite
I miss the original PS1 so much, ahh the memories hearing this
For me tomb raider 2 is the best game ever!!
Beat this game like 5 times. My favorite level was the sunken ship. Really feeling like a play through now.
I love that level!
You don't want to know how many times I have beaten this epic game! :D
played for 6 years, never got past the first mission! I was a kid though ahah
The sunken ship was a pain in a butt to beat. Cool atmosphere imo
31:26 I remember it was soo creepy.
Agreed.
yes defintley
so much nostalgia, this was the first game i played as a child, and i was immediately convinced, because it was so different and looked cooler than all the other games on the shelf, i still remember how addicted i was to this game :-)
16:56 is hypnotic!
All I can hear when I listen to that but is Lara grunting as she climbs that huge ladder!
Name of the song
Tomb Raider II was my first TR game. I discovered this game on the pack-in PC Demo that came with DeathTrap Dungeon back in the day. I remembered testing out Commandos, Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider III, and several other ones that caught my attention - during that era. If I recall, the Tomb Raider II PC Demo didn't come with main theme music ; though I do remember Venice being the main highlight of the game back in 1999 - 2000.
Reminiscent, soothing, relaxing, and simply made my six year old self excited to play and beat this game. Still have those two copies to this day - especially in 2021. One of the best Tomb Raider games from the Core Design era .
Absolutely beautiful!
mein einstieg in die welt von lara :-)
super schöne musik
BEST. SOUNDTRACK. EVER.
i played this very loud at 2200hrs after half a bottle of Chardonnay... this music is so beautifull...
04:54 cruising around Venice in the speedboat listening to this banger!!! They were the days!,
Always loved the atmospheric noise in this game!
I listen to this in the bath. Very calming. Started in the 90s.
Superbe ! Même sans considérer la nostalgie, cette Ost est très agréable à écouter ! Merci !
Popping my game disc into a CD player and discovering a playable soundtrack made me feel like a bit of a Tomb Raider myself
I like the old ones especially tomb raider 2 that is my favourite one of them all
احب هذه اللعبة كثير و اعرفها من عمر ٤ سنين 😍
وكم أصبح عمرك اليوم ؟
Also the classical lara theme is my whole childhood, as a musician, i always loved it, and being in the croft manor
My 3rd game of the PlayStation, back in 1999 and the first of the series. Was and still is a Masterpiece❤
I'm crying now 🥺☹💔
Loved this game so much . Myself and my brother spend two weeks playing it. Amazing time and beautiful memories.
I love Tomb Raider !
brings back so many memories. my god you guys, im so glad i looked for this tonight.
Love Lara ♥!!
+Brenda Alycia Ferriny vai lavar louça
I love all the memories that these soundtracks bring back.
nothing beats what your exploring some badass ruins and you come on a stony ass view and a fukin badass tune ques up
When the music has you tiptoeing through the level because you're afraid of the supernatural shit ahead, you know they've nailed it. Nathan mccree turned a bunch of pixels into an adventure
This is one of my favorite Tomb raider themes!!!!
