Forever reminds of my childhood, sitting in my bedroom with my brother playing tomb raider all day :( When all we had to worry about is how we’d get Lara to the end of the level safely. Don’t lose yourself guys! Stay forever young!
I don't get "cryish" but I do get nostalgic, missing all the COOL old TR games, like this! I have played all but the 3 most recent, and i'm working on Underworld now! :) When the theme started at the beginning of this, the nostalgia hit me and the memories!!
The momment the music started, I felt really weird: like I was indeed traveling in time, sitting in front of my old desktop computer, on rainy afternoons, with no friends and imagining traveling to London hahaha. I was a happy kid with this game and Metal Gear Solid.
MGS was probably the first game I ever finished. I remember I had to ask for my neighbor for the final boss. And I asked my big brother for the torture chamber. I didn't play Tomb Raider without cheats until way later. But still bought the game even if I couldn't finish. Had a crush on Lara Croft of course :)

Lena L. I was 6 when the first Tombraider game came out on windows 96, man it was so frighteneing , still is today when I play it lol. Those guys would pop out of nowhere with a loud theme to it lol. Smh assholes lol.
I Disagree, if the creator still lives and his whole team, and thinking of creating an new Lara Croft game with the same skills they had before and determination, it can come back brought back to life. Never loose trust in faith what may be come back again ;)
we will miss this days forever... crystal just ruined tomb raider for me... tomb raider died in underworld (even bugged, i love that game)... now we got to live with the easy game era... people only like uncharted, now they put uncharted in a tomb raider game and kids got happy... sad.
Its sad how fast time is gone...im 25 years old and my dad played tomb raider with me as a child ^^ I really liked it and someday I played those games by myself. Games will never be so unique again.
That's the beauty and cruelty of nostalgia and the vessels that allow you to access it like this game. They've essentially created a time capsule for you internally of some really great times and that emotion has been immortalised in your brain by things like this soundtrack.
Dark Saibot I liked how the puzzle and action was balanced. It will be forever my favorite TR game, it's the first one I played and was part of my transition between childhood and teenage.
Jorge Chávez Colmenares I agree with that, and for me this was the first game i bought for PS1, the best choice i've ever done!, it's my childhood, i don't know how to explain, this game have some magic, the story, the levels, the locations, the music, it's perfect.
Tomb raider 1 was the best, but had relatively easy puzzles. Tomb raider 2 had way too many human enemies who dealt a ton of damage, some trial and error with puzzles, and dark areas, and tomb raider 3 took tomb raider 2, hut gave it meth
I cannot tell you the shivers from Lara's Theme. Waking up age 6 on christmas morning at 4am to discover my largest present was an empty ps1 box, realising where it must be set up, sneaking back upstairs and sitting in front of it in the freezing cold, too scared of tigers to properly play it and just running around the mansion. Bliss
This music is simply magnificent. I hope Nathan McCree understands what he achieved, how much joy he's given so many. My kids love this game & music as much as I do ;)
im 26 and I'm still crying while listening and playing tomb raider. its my whole life. i've been playing all these games since I was 3. love it so deeply.
I never thought that this day would come when i would be looking back in search of the good old days of Lara-Croft's true missions and soundtracks. When i used to play it i never imagined that it would disappear in the past...The new remake of Tomb raider can never equal this diamond. Some will say it's due to Nostalgia but the real fans know this classical series from T1 to T5 + AOD were on an another level of story , music and concept. It made me feel like i've traveled the world and explored stuff myself. While other games can't deliver that....
I was a kid when a friend of mine showed me this game after school at his home. I instantly fell in love with it....Till this day i regard this game as one of my favorite games of all time...
I think this opening theme is the best.. this or last revelation, both beautiful. I swear all I wanted was to live in Lara's house as a kid and to... be Lara. lol
I remember one Friday night, 23 years ago, I walked to a local blockbuster video and rented this game along with the Matrix on VHS. Parents were on a weekend beach trip. My older sister was responsible for babysitting me but she slipped out later that night to go to a party with some friends. She ordered pizza for me before leaving. So there I was, sitting alone in the dark eating pizza watching a mindblowing sci-fi movie and kicking on the ps2 afterwards. London was probably my favorite level....I just really like how dark and ominous everything was, and I can't tell you how many times I caused Lara to fall to her demise. Nevada was an exciting change of pace, especially near the end when you can commandeer an ATV. Absolutely loved this game, from the story and the soundtrack to the cgi cutscenes. Outstanding ps1 title.
Back in the day where Lara was a classy, sassy, confident, sexy, icon and not a generic relatable character 💗 PS i love how 16:12 , the boss music is a mix of Lara’s theme as well. Like the two songs battling each other like in gameplay 💙👌🏽
I was 10 at the time (1998). I remember the saleswoman at the local video store saying that I might be too young for the game given its difficulty. I had to agree with her afterwards. Cheat codes kept taking me from level to level, only to get stuck again after 5' 😅 God I miss those days…
thanks god i was born in 95 - amazing times with my psx so much games, gt1, gt2, tr 3,4,5, old nfs 4, nfs porsche, worms, re3, demo 1 disc destruction derby, crash bash, quake, gta 2, and more others - i will never forget those times
18:40 No Waiting Around II is probably my most favourite piece of music of the classic series - despite the fact that it's associated with horrific and traumatic memories of that damn kayak 😭😭🛶
26:14 ... one of the most beautiful things I've ever listened in my life ... sounds like thinking at sunset looking outside a window and waiting for something magical and unespected.. magic
16:12 For me that's the Nevada theme, my favorite version of the main theme. Starts off ominously, increasing the tension and when it gets silent and the actual main theme starts, the effect is much bigger. Adventurer's spirit += 100
I have chills remembering this.....when I first played it. Every sound effect, music piece....immbedding into my psyche. Every TR game was an epic escape for me....deep....intriguing, captivating. I lived more in those worlds than this one.........and I still do.
My favourite areas were India and London. I liked the weird London ambience despite the frustration and difficulty. The side story with the evil high-class cosmetics business woman conducting experiments on "lower class" brits was actually more interesting than the main storyline and I love the Geordie Bob track.
these soundtracks take me back so strong to my childhood, I remember myself playing with the playstation running out of memory cards, exploring levels like London, Thames Wharf , my mother cleaning the floor with a hoover and me sitting for many hours. the experience with this game was so intense Im so nostalgic right now...
16:12 - 20:09 is my favorite. I would always replay this part so I could listen to it over and over. I had to save it right before the song on a different save so I could listen to it lol.
I can remember the shop we bought this game in, bringing it home and spending hours exploring this mysterious world on the game. The music typifies the excitement and joy of playing this game, and I still love it now!
Innocent time when i would play this, as a young young kid. Didnt know how to make the PC run, i just turned it on and popped the disc in. Never really knowing what to do, and let alone save. The music, over and over, i was in a different world where i knew not much, but felt what i really felt. Liked the first song, really innocent time in my life, makes it all worth it with that memory over and over
Almost 31 years old and the songs from this OST will never get old I love seeing the comments below from the community about how you all had great memories of simpler times just as I had . I’m glad I wasn’t alone with how much I loved Lara Croft and this game 😅
Such a mystical soundtrack off one of the best tomb raider games period. I adore this game and it's soundtrack! Will always be one of my favourites. ♥ 1998 was a special year for ps1 games.
I don't play games anymore for many years, this was definatly remarkable in my life, all this songs just bring me back in the game. The only tomb raider I manage to finish... It took loooong time.
My first videogame, my first Tomb Raider ❤ One of the best soundtrack and my favourite TR! It was 1998 and I remember waking up early in the morning, 8 or 9 am, because all I wanted was play to this game. I used to fight with my sisters because we wanted to play it at the same time! Too many good memories. Holy shit, I feel old. I love you so much Lara, forever 💓
One thing I loved about the first few games in the series was the lack of continuous background music. It made the moments at which music did start to play that much more memorable. 28:57 always caught me off-guard and scared the fuck out of me, and hearing 26:55 when finally making some progress after being stuck for ages felt so rewarding. Truly amazing soundtrack.
+Kumodatsu I hated it because it caused the 40x/48x speed drives to speed up to the maximum, sounding like a plane taking off just for a 5-second jingle to be accessed. I remembered dying in ALDWYCH when running into the tunnels. I came close to the edge of the map (where a train hits you). I ran, stopped, disk speeds up which takes 5 seconds, 2-second dangerous jingle, dead... THE MEMORIES!
16:12 is my favorite. It's so beautiful, and hearing it in Nevada for the first time was amazing and made me stop where I was to just listen to the beauty :)
Hot me right at the feeling, I remember when I was teenager, runaway from school without or with money just to play or watch who's plays this game, was living in a poor town when no one able to buy PS1, it was tough life, tough memories, all of them brought now when I'm lessening.
Awesome, listen to it everyday. Thats the best game soundtrack ever. I gues the soundtracks from Tomb raider 1,2,3, legend and anniversary. Also i like the theme of the angel of darkness. I love it and it brings back many childhood memories.
This brings back so much memories! And this is the game I never got to finisch on my own cause it was so hard :D back in the days there was no youtube so I had to print the whole walkthrough to finish this game :D and now as a true fan from the beginning...this is the best TR.
My favorite tomb raider. I couldnt finish it without cheats when I was a kid. Did it as an adult way later along all the TR classic, looooved it. Just listening to this music give me back some old memory. Those game really had an identity, it was sometime really mysterious and endearing. You could feel the souls of the developpers in this game. Not like many AAA games from today.
Milo Yiannopoulos that is a falsehood, Milo. TR3 has better music, better atmosphere, better locations (a secret Masonic temple accessible only via a disused subway station, for God's sake :)) Hope life is fun for you in the US..
TR2 is too much easy, simple and has a very poor soundtrack. The story is the worst of the first generation Tomb Raiders. The final boss is simply ridiculous, just like the enemies in general. I like it a lot, but I simply can't understand why the people love it.
Fausto Muniz I think Tomb Raider 2 is really fun, and is the "fastest" of the classics if you know what I mean, it's all action and shooting and vehicle chases etc, but for me the whole "under the sea" section of the game SUCKED. So repetitive, claustrophobic and boring, with WAY too many block pushing puzzles. But I love the bits before and after that section, especially Tibet, it's a blast! But the whole middle bit of the game is just a drag for me =)
I feel that these themes really set the mood for the games really well. Something about this theme really sells the idea that you'll be traveling to more tropical and varied places in this game. I also really like the soft chorus, especially near the end. It's reminiscent of the Pixies' "Where is My Mind" and has this sort of melancholic emotion to it. I also like how the first three games build upon the leitmotif of the previous theme. The first one has that classic oboe melody. The second one starts with the same melody but in a lower key and then changes it up and introduces a secondary string melody. And then the third one features that secondary melody more prominently, while the original game's melody's first notes remain throughout to connect them all together.
5:32 i used to love this song it was a remixed version of st francis folly from tr1right at the part where u go climb down the jenga thingy to get the 4 keys the reason why i love it is because they gave it that indian touch with the drums and the sitar all these old tombraiders need a remake even AOD i miss these childhood days 😭
Forever reminds of my childhood, sitting in my bedroom with my brother playing tomb raider all day :( When all we had to worry about is how we’d get Lara to the end of the level safely. Don’t lose yourself guys! Stay forever young!

Tomb raider 1 was the best, but had relatively easy puzzles. Tomb raider 2 had way too many human enemies who dealt a ton of damage, some trial and error with puzzles, and dark areas, and tomb raider 3 took tomb raider 2, hut gave it meth

One of the scariest moments on a video game, ever. I can't count how many times I got hit by that train. it scared the living shit out of me.

Kumodatsu exactly right and that was very clever of them. Most games overdo the music.
Tomb Raider III is the BEST in every aspect.

this soundtrack wakes up the feeling being a child and do not have to think about anything :)
Sometimes when I hear 02:20 whilst playing the game, I just stop and listen to it.
crazy thomas
me too
I was scared af 😂😂😅
same here! so nostalgic!
I do the same with Venice violins 🎻
Timeless music which immediately transports you into ‘a moment’, of Tomb Raiding. Epic and amazing. ❤️🔝
started replaying this game on my new laptop and forgot how much I loved the soundtrack. The Nevada tracks remind me of music from Stargate SG-1.
Such an excellent soundtrack. Memorable, atmospheric.
i cant forget this beautiful theme music of tomb raider....
Bring me back to an innocent era.
I Love TR III. The best of the three first ones!
ikr so freakin epic
Any real TR fan would disagree because TR2= Best TR
Or you just have a different taste.
Milo Yiannopoulos that is a falsehood, Milo. TR3 has better music, better atmosphere, better locations (a secret Masonic temple accessible only via a disused subway station, for God's sake :))
Hope life is fun for you in the US..
And then the third one features that secondary melody more prominently, while the original game's melody's first notes remain throughout to connect them all together.
i cant get enough of this music.... tr3 music was and still the best!!!
I used to wait at the loading screen longer than needed just to hear the song fully.
I love this so much...Oh, the memories. Such an amazing soundtrack.
the best music from the original Playstation games. Having CD quality music as we played was a big deal!
TR3 has the best soundtrack in the whole trilogy
Quante notti passate con questo videogioco....la mia stupenda adolescenza.....
The element of harp and the flute makes it so beautiful, so mysterious, so romantic...
So many beautiful memorries related to this music
this is my favourite theme song ever
5:32 i used to love this song it was a remixed version of st francis folly from tr1right at the part where u go climb down the jenga thingy to get the 4 keys the reason why i love it is because they gave it that indian touch with the drums and the sitar all these old tombraiders need a remake even AOD i miss these childhood days 😭
