When I saw the ending scene in TR: Last Revelation, I was so heart broken and sad for years!! Happy to have Chronicles, but I thought that was the end of her. Then AoD came out, but wish they explained how she managed to escape. I don't care what people say, AoD was a good game! I loved Dark Lara, it just made sense with her time line.
It was originally supposed to explain it in details after Last Revelation, but was cut. Then I learn the final boss fight in AoD was suppose to be an illusion of Lara's past while fighting Eckhardt. That would've been one hell of a game, but they cut the content and never improve on the controls. I learn something new about AoD every day.
@@SanguinaryStrife ruclips.net/video/gHdMlKjUdko/видео.html here's a retrospect of the game that this guy did some serious research. Enjoy watching his stuff, it's really good.
TR IV is the best to me. As a child, I was a lot into ancient egypt, stories of tombs and mummies and so on. It was fascinating and scary at the same time. Then I got my first TR game, The Last Revelation. I was instantly hooked. The game was pretty scary and I got stuck several times not knowing what to do. Each time I died, it was the main screen with the music and the background visuals that made me try again. It was a camera ride through some treasury chambers and dark tempel-like rooms (also here on RUclips), and I would always ask myself whether I could visit these places in-game as well. And the music... damn so mysterious, but also sad and tragic. As if the main screen already lets you know that Lara will not leave these ancient egyptian tombs alive.
Although my first game was Tomb Raider III, l agree a lot with your opinion about TR IV, that music really has different vibes depending on your age and if you are playing or not, and that animated main menu really makes it mysterious and asking of if she will ever make it. Although my favourite main theme is Tomb Raider III, it has a way different vibe and l love it :)
It's so beautiful to see all these comments from each of us connecting these amazing themes with our lives and memories..childhood nostalgia 🎶🔥..greetings from Greece 👊💙
Years later I still get goosebumps from the ending of the Underworld theme, like, even now.. 24:30 This woman has been my personal role model since childhood, with a sharp mind, wisdom, incredible fortitude and control over emotions. She is always so calm and focused.
Tomb Raider's theme was the best. it was romantic and adventurous and held so much promise. My daughter and I played the games over the Christmas holidays. It made this single mom so happy to spend so much time with my kid.
TR3 was my first Tomb Raider game - first one I played, first one I finished. It is relatively hard, but once I became good at it, TR1 and TR2 felt really easy (by comparison). And that's why TR3 has a very special place in my heart. For me, TR4 is the best among the classics, and perhaps the series should have ended there. Still, Chronicles isn't as bad as people say it is. AoD on the other hand... ouch.
Missed opportunity, yeah. The story itself was a solid enough foundation, it just needed sooooo much more time to reinvent the ideas and mechanics that didn't work and needed polish. Thankfully, devoted fans are trying their hand at it themselves.
I like the new series, but it makes me sad every time that the original personality of Lara Croft created by Core Design is not being used in the Lara that is going around right now. That’s why I am definitely not obsessed with the newer games. Loved the Underworld series, because it had a little Lara in it. But now… nothing is left from good old miss Croft. Sad.
The original Lara was very inconsistent. Toby Gard (creator of Lara) left Core Design because he was unhappy with the direction Core and Eidos were taking the character. He had insisted on having animal enemies in the original TR game because he didn't want Lara to be killing humans all the time, and he didn't like how sexualised she was becoming in the marketing. In TR2 onwards, Lara turned into a mass murderer. The final level of TR2 ends with Lara's home filled with a pile of corpses, while she nonchalantly disrobes and takes a shower. The version of Lara we see in Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld is much more consistent with how Gard originally wanted Lara to be portrayed because he helped write the story for that trilogy.
My dad and I used to play this all of the time on the PS1 when I was little. When they announced the remaster, I was so happy to hear they were bringing back the classic Tomb Raider games. I've got the first remaster trilogy on ps5 now and it brings back to my childhood when I would sit in the living room and play Tomb Raider after school. I even saw the announcement trailer for the second trilogy that will be released next year.
I started playing these games as a kid with my dad. They filled me with such a powerful sense of wonder. Because of them, I'm so eager for adventure and travel, and I'm so fascinated by history (especially account Egypt - TR4). These games hold a special place in my heart. The original TR1 theme warms me every time I hear it.. Thank you Lara. You've drastically helped shape who I am today
I know the gaming community said angel of darkness was the worst in the series, But i absolutely loved it, Even tho the controls were clunky and the game was unfinished i still enjoyed it. Collecting all secrets & solving difficult puzzles playing those classics from CORE DESIGN, I will always cherish those good times.
Exactly, I loved the dialogue part of TRAOD, it was absolutely great. From what I know, it was revolutional at the time. Core design had a great idea on how to make TR enjoyable and not boring. The locations, puzzles, everything. TR. I to IV were pretty similar at their mechanics, the fifth part was a little different but it resembled them, and TRAOD was a very fresh idea. They planned on making a trio of games like this one, but they sadly never got to do that :(
I liked the first reboot, but now the games are too "recent" for me, similar to other new games now. I don't hate them, it's just not tomb raider anymore.
When I heard this it made me sad cause I remember the feeling of wonder while exploring this world and amazement of the graphics which at the time where so good and remembering the music which really made the world around you mysterious and come to life, I don’t recall another game ever making me feel the way Tomb Raider 1 and 2 did. Wish I could experience that feeling again…..
reading your comment I remembered my grand father too, when I was a child all the family used to play tekken 3 on ps1 and he played with us, he had a young spirit ,I really understand your feeling... they are all in a better place now..
legend of tomb raider, and the second tomb raider makes me so emotional i played them all my childhood and it throws me back to the good memories, now here i am dying my hair brown and dressing just like lara. i guess it’s just the influence🥲🤙
Today I realized why I love Tomb raider lll the most. That's because of the music, the most mysterious, soft and unforgettable! Thanks for the collection!
Lara Croft's character got ruined...utterly. Total personality change, and that goes for the game too. What a shame. If that wasn't bad enough, they make the graphics so demanding, you need a super computer to play it on PC.
@@DaveThompsonfairlife4all I agree with you about everything except for the last part. For such beautiful graphics, it's optimized more than any other game i played. Many other games have much worse graphics and they even run worse, not optimized enough. Graphics/performance/optimization for the Tomb Raider games is 9/10 in my opinion. Much better than Ubisoft at least..
Tr have been granted a new life since Trilogy. I abandoned the old tr as they are boring and the control - I can say stupid. I played through the great pyramid in tr1. However I will never look back since 2013.
These newest tomb raiders don't even contain single melody from the old serie. It feels like they totally said goodbye to the original and were not even pretending these games were not fanfics
I was 8 years old when my father bought a PC. I'm from Russia and in the 90s we had a big crisis, all our games were pirated, but the main thing was that they were. I continued to play Dandy, but when I saw Tomb Raider, I immediately fell in love with this game and never returned to Dandy. I still remember the very first cutscene of the very first level of the very first part of game and this music from the main theme, amazingly done. Lara Croft became an idol, it seems to me that I understood my values through this game and it influenced my formation as a person. Even now I admire the character of this character in that old version, I don’t like the new versions of the game. But what I also adore about old games is that the graphics were much worse than the current ones, but the atmosphere, mystery, antiquity and expressiveness of the scenes were still conveyed simply wonderful. Excellent work on the scenery and ambience from visual images to sounds and music.
Back in my 90s childhood, the only Tomb Raider games I played were TR2, TR3 and TR4. TR2 was the first game I played, so I prefer this menu soundtrack (3:15). No matter how old, it feels magical.
I don't care what anyone says, the Tomb Raider (2013) reboot's theme is my favorite ESPECIALLY the piano theme! XD This is coming from a person who likes the Survivor trilogy the most. I like old games and themes too though. They're all unique in their own way imo.
The classic are the classics tho and will remain the original sound that belongs to Lara Croft, because they represent the first Lara . Others are fine too but they aren’t the official song that belong to her. There can be only one real Lara, and that is the one that Core Design created and has tought up.
I close my eyes and listen to thes soundtracks and fell with my childhood but when i open my eyes i surprised that im old and no human gonna leave u to love what u want they will call u baby just becaus u attach with ur childhood dream so it's better to keep ur felling insid of u or right it here in youtube caus i know thers lot of like me.......
The original theme (and its version in Anniversary) is an absolutel classic, one of the best melodies in this media. A truly iconic piece. AoD might be a game of questionable quality as a whole; but its score was incredible. Grand and operatic, with a sence of adventure and excitement fully intact, the work of Peter Connelly there was truly remarkable (and his 2018 crowdfounded remastered re-release of his Tomb Rider work is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan). Even despite the diminished reliance on the oboe, harp, and other instruments so associated with TR music, the main theme in AoD is one of my favorite musical pieces among cinematic, stage, and gaming scores all together. I love Legend and Underworld as games, but their scores (Underworld especially) felt a bit too "immediate-music for trailers"-sort of way. They still had memorable pieces in there overall, and Legend was definitely a more unique one in terms of scoring between the two. Everything past 2010 feels competent, yet somehow a tad too generic and boring to me, sadly. The "interchangeable trailer action music"-feeling gets much stronger with them, too. Don't get me wrong, there's occasional swell of emotion and excitement still present; and those scores are solid and do their job, overall.. But they just don't feel 100% authentic Tomb Raider to me, like there's something lacking now. (Though the 2018-edition had been the more interesting of the bunch, with complex compositions and attempts at finding a newer, more mature sound, while retaining some of that classic TR feeling - a noble attempt, at least. I hope the next installment will be truly revitalizing for the music for the franchise, getting rid of the staleness and finding its own voice and sound once more). That's just my opinion, tho.
Man I miss the days when video games had so much mystery and soul in them. The graphics were not the best but that pushed the developers to really dive deep into the story and build the charisma in the characters. Just hearing the Last Revelation theme brings so much nostalgia and it leaves me wondering what happened to the mysterious and enigmatic Tomb Raider series... It's not like the new TR games are bad or anything. I like the idea of surviving in a more realistic way but it's just not the same experience anymore. 😕
how I agree with you, you would know. I also noticed that this hour of the game is empty and cannot be compared with the old ones. As if they exchanged charisma for the beauty of the picture ....
Love the way Underworld's theme works its way up to a fantastic crescendo - powerful stuff! That entire soundtrack is just epic. Anniversary is magical - almost whimsical... and whatever that lady is singing about in Legend's theme I don't know, but she sure does it beautifully!
I’m playing the original for the first time and let me tell you this game is HAAARD! I’ve been on the 4 keys for hours (damocles, thor etc) like omg. I’m trying to get the feeling of the old ones.
I felt like the new tomb raider is telling a story how Lara croft became a bad ass woman , she survived in that yamatai island and get through many things. So maybe that's why she looks like a boo boo kitty(?) like you said. Sorry for my bad english, but I hope you understand 😊
Original Lara felt like an actual character. Survived a plane crash, was fed up with how shallow society was afterwards, and yearned for something more: pure adventure. She was disowned, worked writing travel journals to fund her journeys, and was her own boss. That's awesome.
I just miss Lara Croft the woman. In the latest games she's more like Lara Croft the girl and I can't find it in myself to like her for some reason... I just want the woman back. I admired her and aspired to be as strong when I was young. For some reason seeing Lara Croft the girl I feel like nursing her... ah, maybe it's just my maternal instinct calling!
I am in love with all of them!😊 Everything, connected with Tomb Raider is perfect!I really enjoy the games and Lara Croft, but even I like and the new reboot version,I miss the old one...😕 And I really hope the next game to "combine" theese two versions! It would be great!May be something like that-to be continue of Tomb Raider Underworld, where Lara loses her home and every hope about her parents and the motivation to go on another adventure anymore, and then to remember all her moments and missions from the past and to remember how her adventures started and how she transformed the younger "reboot" Lara to the classic one and to start feel nostalgia and saddnest, becouse she doesnt have reason to go anywhere and becouse she is gona end everything. And then to realise that the hope dies last and to find more reasons to continue her "raiding" and to find more information about mistical ancient lost artifacts, which can let her see her parents again or even once more and to talk with them for last. And then to find ambition to become better of what she is doing and to improve every her skill from the beginnin to this moment and to become a combination from the reboot and classic Lara Croft and her weapons to be her dual pistols and her bow, which she had already saved as a...memory...of her first adventures..And the whole story as a style to be combimation and the game and even the puzzles...I cant even imagine how interesting and good would it be! (Sorry for my bad English;I am Bulgarian..😅)
I think that a great Tomb Raider game would have Lara as an old woman trying to pass the torch to some other young girl. This way you could have a soft reboot that does not clash with the way we saw original Lara. ^^'
i used to play tomb raider with my mum and today 5 years ago she passed away but this music always reminds me of the times and memories i had with my mum.. :"(

A croatian here. I am too 😂. Same love for The Angel of Darkness 🙌
I grew up playing The Last Revelation almost every time I got home from school. The theme song is still stuck in my core memories. So magical.
Apparently a Bedouin tribe found and rescued her according to Core's original story.
@@Wardog22476 wow! That would have been interesting. Damn, I wish they had more time to work on it. I wonder why they rushed it?
@@mish375 really? Where is this info, I must read. I used to be all up in tomb raider information, I wish I had kept all the magazine on the game.
@@SanguinaryStrife ruclips.net/video/gHdMlKjUdko/видео.html here's a retrospect of the game that this guy did some serious research. Enjoy watching his stuff, it's really good.
Lara was, is and still will be my inspiration. Not just to move forward and chase my dream, but also to not forget about the best time in my life. 🥺
This comment!
@@celiohelder1 glad to know I'm not the only one!
Getting stuck was probably one of the best parts about the game.. you definitely had to figure things out on your own..

I love how they're still using the same 4 notes on the newer games, truly one of the few things that haven't changed after all those years
Years later I still get goosebumps from the ending of the Underworld theme, like, even now.. 24:30
This woman has been my personal role model since childhood, with a sharp mind, wisdom, incredible fortitude and control over emotions. She is always so calm and focused.
I agree, she is incredible and she teaches to be better

@BadassgamezRevival I suggest you tune in on 14th Feb. He's brilliant
I have memories with last revolation💝💝💝
That theme song though...it's fantastic.
@@mish375 yes it is😍💝

Brings back so many memories. Wow. 🙌 Thanks for putting this together.
@@Rocket1377fk Toby Gard. He's a hypocrite. My favourite Lara is AoD, which he had no part in lol
I will always adore Troels work on TR, it's just perfect.
Anniversary's theme is such a calming reinvention of the og theme. Replayed that track to death when I was a kid.
Psx Tomb Raider themes make me feel something else. Like i shouldn’t be in this world. I need to be in another full of adventure and danger
It is more than just game, I have wonderfult memories with it and it takes a large place of my heart and feelings
Tomb Raider the Angel of Darkness the best episode and main themes music x)
Tomb Raider legend and anniversary 😍😍😍
2 is seriously a masterpiece
I remember watching my dad play tomb raider 1 in the 90s. The music brings me right back.
@@diamondangel3442 Totally agree 100%
I really loved AoD, and I think if they had the opportunity to finish it properly, it would have been one of the best.

Today I realized why I love Tomb raider lll the most. That's because of the music, the most mysterious, soft and unforgettable! Thanks for the collection!
Nostalgic Nostalgia...best games ever to be made !!! Totally Legendary!
I think we all can agree that TRAOD and TRL have the best themes
you mean Anniversary pal
TR2 for me
I've had some amazing memories with all the games. TR2013, Rise, Legend, TR1 and TR3 are highlights for me among the games
They are all beautiful in my opinion, every of them have their defects and their strength
i feel like the new tomb raider never capture the atmosphere.
It's still fun and exciting
It doesn't. The original trilogy had an ambience that's totally absent in the modern games. The Core games were truly the best.
Underworld theme is a masterpiece and undurrated game, the dark fall of lara and the mansion croft.
These newest tomb raiders don't even contain single melody from the old serie. It feels like they totally said goodbye to the original and were not even pretending these games were not fanfics
I agree
The theme from the first game is an absolute masterpiece. Thanks for posting this!
No matter how old, it feels magical.
yep!
Its been 5 years without Tomb raider 💔 we need powerful one with touch of the classic style of the real TOMB RAIDER 🔥
The Angel Of Darkness and Underworld, is the best
I'm obsessed with this game I played every and each one of them from A to Z. One of my favorite games ever
I don't care what anyone says, the Tomb Raider (2013) reboot's theme is my favorite ESPECIALLY the piano theme! XD
This is coming from a person who likes the Survivor trilogy the most.
Agree 100%. 2013 theme's not only my favorite TR theme but also favorite gaming theme ever. I do absolutely love all the other games tho
Once I wanna go and see nevada desert with TR3 OST music ON :D

Yeah! The older games were so mysterious
Amen brother 🙏 Sure the graphics weren’t all realistic, but the story and the music was gold. I miss those classics. Wish they were like that today.
how I agree with you, you would know. I also noticed that this hour of the game is empty and cannot be compared with the old ones. As if they exchanged charisma for the beauty of the picture ....
Tomb raider 1996 so emotional ..it was good times
I recently completed tomb raider 2013 and at one point I almost cried. And I think that tomb raider 2013 is the best part😪🔥
Nothing beats the original theme. All of Tomb Raider 1's music is perfect.
I wish Lara croft in real life, I'm just saying. If Lara croft in real life, I'm gonna friend with her. 😢🥺❤️
1,2 and Legend Trilogy has a special place in my heart
Tomb Raider 2013...so much nostalgia l love that game and it has an amazing theme.
Love the way Underworld's theme works its way up to a fantastic crescendo - powerful stuff! That entire soundtrack is just epic. Anniversary is magical - almost whimsical... and whatever that lady is singing about in Legend's theme I don't know, but she sure does it beautifully!
It's a version of Aileen Duin, a classic celtic? Song. But if you search the name you will find different versions of the song.
I’m playing the original for the first time and let me tell you this game is HAAARD! I’ve been on the 4 keys for hours (damocles, thor etc) like omg. I’m trying to get the feeling of the old ones.
Such good memories. Stick with it!! It's so rewarding when you figure it out
Back when video games didn't hold your hand and you have to figure out what to do. 😊
@@Butterflywings011 yesss feels so good to finally figure it out!
I'm pretty sure AoD music was recorded by a real orchestra, incredible how good it sounds.
I miss the old Tomb Raider. She wasn't a boo boo kitty/ Rambo like the new one is.
Same tomb raider 3 the best ps2 was the console growing up
Yes I feel the same
I felt like the new tomb raider is telling a story how Lara croft became a bad ass woman , she survived in that yamatai island and get through many things.
I am in love with all of them!😊
Everything, connected with Tomb Raider is perfect!I really enjoy the games and Lara Croft, but even I like and the new reboot version,I miss the old one...😕
And I really hope the next game to "combine" theese two versions!
