Cutting 10% is a good way to fire unproductive employees without having to tell them they are unproductive. Keep the higher performers and I guarantee they will be hiring right after the round of layoffs or even during.
Most of the jobs will be replaced by Optimus. Robots will be replacing most manual works in manufacturing companies.

Excellent take on what's going on. Hit the nail on the head. This feels exactly like 2017 when I started buying TSLA. Never sold a share and excited for this buying opportunity. Looking forward to retire in 2 to 3 years!
@09:00 Haha, I also started to invest in Tesla back in 2019, still holding these positions at 1300% profit right now (have been at well over 2000%), I bought shares at $12 per share May 2019 (splits adjusted), not expecting that was the exact bottom, but it in hind sight happened to be that way.
I have a strong feeling 2024 could be like 2019, with so many good things happening in the company and MSM focusing on the bad things (lay offs, temporary dips in sales numbers, etc), at some point the stock will catch up, watch out for the revenues and profits generated by the probably HUGE take rate increase of FSD and on top of that, tens of thousands of cybertruck founders series sold at 120K a pop and megapacks, solar and powerwall breaking record after record... And maybe the announcement Humanoid robots being tested in the factories for the first time...
Before you know it Tesla stockprice blasts past $200 on its way to $300 and then new ATH's!...It will happen some day, we only do not know exactly when.
This channel comes across as having the least bias with lots of reliable information and perspectives.
Elon's approach is not new, in fact I learned it 30 years ago. But it is the right approach.

Here in Tacoma Washington zero rate business was around $650 now with the current interest rates you’re looking at almost 2 grand for rent on your business. Got a put that model y on hold. Just some food for thought.

Nice, balanced, perhaps too rosy a view as you always try hard to stay positive. You do a good job reading from the critics, who seem to have the momentum these days, and deservedly so. Tesla is not a failure, but is surrounded by failing competitors and that's not always good. A lot of consumers are reluctant to make a move from gasoline. Many are suffering under a weak economy.

I have a different take on why Rohan and Baglino are departing Tesla. I think it's likely due to the Bloomberg rapport that Tesla is putting Model 2 on hold to focus on the Robotaxi car instead, shortly after Elon announces date for Robo Taxi event. I can imagine that Baglino and Rohan were not in line with Elon on those last minute changes, which could of been the the reason for the sudden departure of 2 executives shortly after the Bloomberg rapport and Elon announcing Robo Taxi event.
The main thing when executive leave Tesla for me, is not that they are leaving, it is are they selling their stock.

Elon can be brutal. It's the main reason I am practically all in on TSLA. I think Drew may well have left of his own accord, but 4680 and DBE progress may well have contributed.
Of course, they were pushed out....because they left immediately.....

Tesla will need fewer employees going forward. Automation (both industrial robots and Optimus) will increase and pick up the slack.
It’s basically done in the short term and investors gotta hope the next catalyst actually comes to fruition
about to start another growth curve.. another way to say this might be 'production hell'. They need to get lean for this, likely the entire organization was given the opportunity to leave no questions asked. it is not surprising some people who have made enough money to retire want to take some time and enjoy life with their young families.
I worked my ass off there and still got let go. Along with 5 others at one location. Seems to be about the same across all other locations.

Elon is focused on making production of vehicles as efficient as possible. "The best part is no part" is a key mantra so why would anyone be surprised to find the same operational method applied to staffing?

Call me crazy but most times when a company announces lay offs the stock goes up because management is making hard cost cutting decisions.
Interesting that in clearly difficult time, one cuts cost, the other buys a new corporate head office. The comparison is stark.
Tesla is a phenomenal company, but Nio will destroy it this year unfortunate!
I was one of the techs laid off today. Despite what people may believe, Tesla did not only lay off inefficient workers as many of the techs in my shop who were some of the best there were also laid off while others who were less productive were allowed to stay. In my case especially it would make very little sense to lay me off as I had just completed the START program where Tesla invested upwards of $50k for my training, made me move to a completely different state, hired me for a month and a half, then fire me for no reason at all without warning or notice. I loved my job and I was only getting started in my career with Tesla but now I am stuck watching from the outside once more. I was not the only one in this exact same scenario either as 4 others from my START class met the same fate. Now, after all of the hard work I put in and the sacrifice I made to move to an entirely different state solely for my job, they tell me it was all for nothing. And the training was Tesla specific and means very little outside of Tesla. I know I am venting but my job was literally my life and my passion, now I am just left feeling betrayed.

Sincerely sorry for your loss. It's irrelevant in the broader scene though. Good people might well not fit the future.

Because I support Teslas mission and I wanted to make it my own. That was my dream job and I sacrificed a lot to get it. Thanks for the support…means a lot. Nice to know I am irrelevant
@@MattPociusonTeslaMoneyInitially Cleveland, Ohio to Charlotte, NC for about 8 months for training, and then to the new Clermont, Florida service center where I got placed. Just remember while this just looks like more money to you, thousands of lives were put in a state of distress today. They may just be numbers on a page from your perspective, but for so many, they just lost their livelihood.
I notice several jobs still open at Tesla, such as one where you are taught to make the batteries. You'd be an Intern/Apprentice in Manufacturing Development at Sparks, Nevada. No degree req. Looks interesting to me but, I don't need a job. There are several other jobs available on Tesla's page. Didn't they tell you? Although I went to college after a hitch in the Army, which can convey benefits to you later on, even if you don't stay long enough to establish a pension, but, if I had it to do over again, knowing what I know now about the state of 'college' in our Country, I'd ditch that opportunity for the far-better one of becoming qualified in one of the skilled trades, which only require a few years of apprenticeship and begin paying far more than most 'college' level jobs and hold out the opportunity of you establishing your own service business in that field. I don't think that 'trade' jobs, such as Electricians, are going to succumb to 'robots', such as Optimus, for a long, LONG time, due to the many laws and customs which would have to be changed. Probably, by then, there would be 'Robotics' service businesses in great demand. We can be quite sure that most of today's 'college' level office jobs are doomed to be easily replaced by bots or just better/faster computers. Good luck.

A guess: Tesla is close to deploying robots on factory floors. Manufacturing productivity is poised to rise rapidly. Combined with slack denand in China and the US, fewer priduction workers will be needed.
Slack demand in China is due to the slow-motion collapse of their economy. It's looking very ugly. In the US, incentives for hybrids are the same as for qualifying BEVs, which drops their prices into the basement. (That was foreseeable. Biden was acting to protect union jobs.) So BEV sales are slowing. It's a good tine to start cutting workers.
There will be more jobs cuts to come.

This layoff is more people than all the previous layoffs combined. This isn't the normal get rid of the slackers layoff. The executives resigned, maybe they see the writing on the wall and are getting away from the upcoming bubble burst.
Doesn’t make sense. Why resign before finding a better gig? And if a bubble bursts do you think it will only be at Tesla? They still have the same competitive advantages as far as I know.
