That’s a pretty neat test. Gave me an idea. I need to carry some mule tape with me backpacking. I could use it to help support a smaller tree when the bigger trees are too far apart.
Cool experiment. I thught for sure it wouldn't work; but it did. Goes to show that nothing beats testing; getting out in the dirt and doing it. Thanks for posting Billy Joe. Peace.... ken
Hi Billy Joe... Oh no you stepped in a pluppy land mine.... Don't feel bad it happens to me all the time... Man it would suck if one of those knots slipped..wink wink.. Likly you're only a couple inches off the ground... I would say your test is a success...👍... You know you could use your support Pole as a hiking staff.. That way it would have multiple uses... Excellent test Billy Joe...🙃
All I could think of was a prop for my clothesline. Kinda similar in so many ways. Down here in Dalton Ga today if was so beautiful as yours looks. Nice day to bring out the hammock dear. Salute! Glad to see another video. I've always loved your channel. Got much outta watching you. May your journey be slower and infused with many sunny day's. Love
That Mule tape is awesome. We use it to pull wire in conduit all the time and you are right it doesn't stretch much at all . Lol the poo issue struggle is real.
Man I could have used this back last summer on a camping trip to New River. I tried my best to hang my hammock from two tree that were about 50 feet apart. I failed miserably lol. I have a quite a bit of that mule tape I will definitely be adding it to my hammock kit
Now that is improvising to overcome an obstacle. As we are not known for a lot of trees here, I have seen areas that I would like to hang but the trees were limited. I like this system. I am wondering if another short guy line from the top of the dowel going backwards (along same line as 100 ft line) pulling top of the dowel back may take some of the bounce out. This was a cool test! Thank you!
The utility company would've been upset if you woulda yanked that pole outa the ground!!! Ha ha ha! That mule tape is tough stuff. Maybe you could make something to attach to the Cherokee so you could use it as one anchor point, and a tree for the other???
Hey buddy, good to see a new video from ya. With dog poo on the shoe, i would think to remove the shoe, then slide in the hammock. I take my shoes of to get in my hammock either way. That's good to know that a stick like that will help so much. Makes me wonder if you need 100 foot. I mean can the tape go slanted to the ground from the stick to kinda make a tri pod with the straps holding up the stick? That would mean you only need one tree to hang a hammock. Take care Bill.
hey buddy, thanks . well I'm sure the ridge line could be tied off to a good anchor support . the 100 ft was just to see the stretch in the mule tape . it would be a lot less stretch the shorter it is .. billy joe

It would be interesting to see if it stretches anymore in a full night's sleep. Great video my friend

merry christmas opal, surprisingly i didn't hit the ground ..lol
billy joe
I like that mule tape! At Fish Pond Lake I used two 12' & two 10' straps! That could be done in the woods fer sure! Thanks Billy Joe. ZZ.
Great Hanging with you Bill.a beautiful day,,,apart from dog poo🙂. I'm surprised it didn't stretch more.
hey mark ,glad you could hang out . I've never put that kind of load on mule tape .. i was impressed with it..

the mule will help chris , hope to make the meet..
billy joe
That worked great.Mule tape is good stuff. Thanks for the sub.
Neat experiment, Bill. That dowel looks a little too flimsy, but in the woods one could usually find a sturdy pole to cut.
Bill no wonder you were puzzled. I meant Tensa 4. www.tensaoutdoor.com/product/tensa4-hammock-stand/
when the bugs are worked out , i would probably change to metal ..lol
good to here from you larry.

That is very interesting. I'm gonna have to try this. Thanks

"As long as our knots hold" applies equally to a 12 foot ridge line too... Great test Bill. I never heard of mule tape, what is it?
the mule tape is not hard to find , 1/2 inch nylon webbing . i believe is like 2500 breaking strength ...i could be wrong , but it is strong stuff ..
cool beans
thanks bud
Next thing you know we’ll see you suspended over a river taking a nap.
Hopefully there's no poo under the hammock if the tape broke.
haha , there probably was .. lucky me i didn't fall..
