I would argue, as a baseball fan, that "You're looking at one for the ages here!" and "I'll tell you what, we're having an earth--" are still SORELY missing from this compilation. Great video otherwise, though--ALWAYS loved hearing him announce games for my teams. :)
Something about his voice and the way he talks is just so enjoyable.. definitely my favorite play by play announcer and it’s amazing that he’s always in the booth with all the great games and moments.. also great cuz he’s probably the best guy for it
that kind of thing is honestly why Al Michaels is so good. You can tell that he's just watching the game and reacting like you are. You can feel his emotions build and progress throughout the play. It makes every play more exciting and engaging, especially plays like breakaway runs. On the play you mentioned Joe Buck would be like "Favre....pass is.........no signal yet......"
Al Michaels-- probably my favorite of all time NFL announcers. He is the last link to my association of NFL on TV when I started watching as a kid. All the other good ones that I remember in the late 70's have long since vanished: John Madden, Pat Summerall, Merlin Olson, Don Meredith, Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford, Keith Jackson; and more that I can't recall at this exact moment.
oh Yeah...Listening to Dick Enberg and Merlin Olson calling a San Diego Chargers game at 3pm in the early 80's...........That was the first taste of Air Coryell, Dan Fouts was throwing 300 yard games and we never seen that before.Loved it as a kid.
Al Michaels is a legend. Glad he got to call the first Superbowl championship for my Eagles last year. It was a dream come true to hear his voice last year after we won. And the Miracle on Ice call was legendary. And that rant prior to the 2nd half of the Saints/Cowboys game about the halftime festivities was also classic. But where was the Derek Fisher buzzer beater? That was a classic call too. His voice completely exploded when Fisher made that shot. Al is the best.
Contract ends in 2022 and he is 75 years old but yeah I hope the same I hope he didn't retire because his voice is better then a "pass is caught" references by Joe Buck's annoying ass voice I don't want to hear him when it comes with big games and the Super Bowl!
I grew up in San Francisco and we often went to Giants games at Candlestick Park. Al called those games and we often saw him and his family at McDonald's before the game; he and I were in the food line often enough that we introduced ourselves (I was 10) and we said hello often. Truly nice guy; glad he's had an HoF career.
There's something so relaxing about watching Sunday night football with Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth. They have their criticisms and some of them are fair but I just find their calm with sudden changes in emotion so nice
0:26 as a patriots fan the swing of emotions was fucking unreal during that play... i remember preparing myself to cry when wilson is about to throw that pass and then butler pick happenend..man..my heart was about to explode lol
Al & Chris, best ever. Also, @ 5:37 Dan Connolly's kick return, I was at that game witnessing that play in person. Still 1 of the greatest live plays I've ever seen.
Not gonna take Al for granted one more game. So great! Didn’t realize all the great moments he’s called even recently. If he’s calling the game, you’ve got a chance of a classic NFL moment. He helps make those moments even more special!
Childhood right here Sunday nights having school the next day but staying up late family drinking, cracking jokes ,eating chips and watching Sunday night football with al Micheal and chris collinworth commentating glad it’s still going
Al Michaels has been in my life since I was a kid, I'm 23 now, and I never get tired of hearing his commentary. Somehow, he just knows exactly how to make every game interesting. He is certainly the BEST!!!!
@@trevorcobelo8156 yeah it’s like 15 seconds of good calls other than that he is absolutely terrible. Al michaels, Gus Johnson, jack buck, John madden are legends and Tony romo is a great commentator.
I love the Antonio Freeman catch because of how Al almost sounds mad that it happened, it’s a catch that if it was in a movie, people would say “no that wouldn’t happen irl”
Have any of Al Michaels’ baseball calls? Did games for the Reds, the SF Giants, and ABC in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Also, don’t forget Derek Fisher’s .4 shot in the 2004 NBA Playoffs How about MNF during the Gifford era? Bo Jackson, Joe Montana, etc. Anyway, good list.
I get chills every time I hear the "Arizona has the lead!" call and I'm not even a Cardinals fan. Also, the Miracle on Ice is the greatest call in sports history and you can't change my mind on that
17th October 1989 Game 3 of the World Series..."Tell you what we're having an Earth....." then says when back on air "Well Folks that's the greatest opening in the history of Television"
Al Michaels is clearly one of the all time great announcers in history. He’s had some of the greatest moments on his watch in sports history, and knows just what to say in a given moment.
Michaels started out as a Cincinati Reds announcer. I so enjoyed hearing him and Joe Nuxhall tell stories during rain delays. Michaels called the last play of Roberto Clemente's life in the playoffs. Johnny Bench hit a home run to right to end the game, "Clemente to the wall....."
Al Michaels is without a doubt one of the 5 greatest sports broadcasters and will have a HoF career in both baseball and football while also having the 1980 Miracle on Ice call under his hat
Come on where is his call of Dave Henderson's home run in Game 5 of the 1986 ALCS? People may not know he basically made his name as a baseball announcer. Career started in about 1970 but didn't start calling Monday Night Football until 86. Oh and of course "I'll tell you what, we're having an earthquake!" in the 89 World Series.
“And I’ll tel you what were having an earth q-“ one of the most spine chilling calls I’ve heard in sports (World Series btw not football). And I wasn’t even alive for it
This list is great, but it is definitely incomplete. Michaels actually got his start in sports doing Cincinnati Reds baseball radio. In the bottom of the ninth in the 1972 NLCS against the Pirates, catcher Johnny Bench came to the plate and tied the game with a blast over the right field wall. The reds went on to clinch the WS birth a few batters later, on a wild pitch. “The windup, and the pitch to Bench. Change, hit in the air to deep right field. Back goes Clemente! At the fence! She’s gone!!" I was 13 years old. I was there. With pops listening to Michaels' call on his portable radio. STILL get goose bumps. Those were the baseball days!! :) :)
I'm a Seahawks fan and whenever Al Michaels yells it gives me PTSD. Especially when the Bills got that pick six off of Lamar and he yelled "And it's...INTERCEPTED"
Al Michaels is the best. I love Sunday night football. Please DON'T retire! Not yet! I never get tired of listening to him.
True statement. Can never hear enough of Al Michaels. Could listen to him for days on end. Way better than announcers like Joe Buck.
So boring
I hate him because of if now he called SB 52 I wish would just retire I hate him more than I hate joe buck
@@ortega701 there was no emotion in the game😂

When Al is amazed it is always hilarious to hear Cris Collinsworth laughing in the background, cracks me up every time😂
Al Michaels and collinsworth are by far the best announcer duo in the nfl right now
I know it makes me laugh too. Al's dry personality and voice makes it hilarious when someone makes a stupid mistake.
No compilation of Al Michaels' career would be complete without "Do You Believe in Miracles? YES!" and "He did WHAT?!?" included.
Compilation of his career would have to be narrated and called by Al himself!
Which one was yes I don’t know that one?

Great call Al!!

You can hear that he’s genuinely into it and you can feel the emotion
He’s my favorite for sure
As good as he is and as much as I normally like his style, he was a bummer on the Jags game in the comeback win
