    First time Ride player. Scrolling the racing game market on my PS5 late last night and came across this good looking motorcycle game. Bought it after a little bit of thought and loaded it up. After getting acclimated with the controls I was managing to get bronze on the first few races and was really confused how people were getting anywhere near the gold times. Came across this video today (the following afternoon), giving these new tips a go 👌

    Swapping to semi auto so you can use rear brake also seems like big improvement to my very bad braking issues. I hate how tight the brake is compared to RIMS Racing tho, that game really allow you to trail with the rear brake.

    It is decent once getting the control. Leaning only on straights is the best advice here though. Braking hard then easing out through the corner is perfectly right too, helps massively. You can fly round the tracks once getting those right. Feels impossible at first 🤣 I struggled because I am a biker and the rear brake and front are backwards, you'd NEVER use front brake while going round a bend! You'd be over the handle bars! Always use the rear brake while cornering, this game doesn't seem to know that which is odd

    Pro tip if you struggle with smooth rider/bike control, try an analog stick extender like kontrol freeks. It allows a wider range of movement and makes riding smooth much easier IMO, also using the "rolling" technique combined with this is the best way to enter and exit corners at the correct lean angles.

    (A hint for those who use manual transmission, without jolt brakes)
    I recommend switching rear brakes to R1, so you can downshift during hard braking.
    I just move my index finger from R2 throttle to R1 when ever i need rear brakes.

    • @DrAce46
      @DrAce46  Год назад

      Hmm interesting technique, I don’t think I could get on with that though 😂 I may give it a try though

    • @JJ-mz6ed
      @JJ-mz6ed Год назад +1

      @@DrAce46 Yep, actually i think this a must if you plan to use manual gears.
      Also i use L1 to tuck-in; which basically means that whenever i'm either braking into or accelerating from a corner, my index fingers simply move from:
      L1 > L2 / from tuck-in to braking
      R1 > R2 / hard braking at corner entry to controlling throttle.
      This setup allows your right thumb to up- and downshift, rewind and control the free camera to look around.

    I’m hoping it’s just my poor skill but I just can’t get the smooth motion with the analog stick, the throttle and break I can get bang on, even when I’m pushing someone round a corner but for example the double apex corner on mongelo, I just can’t stay leaning right and end up having to double lean

    • @DrAce46
      @DrAce46  Год назад +1

      You might be going too fast if you can’t hold the line. Try coming off the power if you’re going to deep into the corners. Arriabiata 1 and 2 can be done by lifting off the analogue stick a small amount and then going back on the right

    Fantastic video. Thanks so much for the attention to detail.
    My problem is if I have transmission on semi automatic and try to do the downshifting myself, the game automatically sometimes shifts a split second before me, and my thumb is already shifting as well, resulting in the bike being two gears lower- rather than one. It seems to me that manually downshifting when Transmission is set on semi automatic means that to avoid problems you always have to be down shifting a split second earlier than the game automatically would. Correct? I keep finding myself being in a lower gear than I want to be because of this double down shifting. My only solution has been to go back to Manual Transmission and do the up-shifting as well. Don't you sometimes find the game automatically screwing up your downshifting?
    Also, is there really a need to keep the analog button pushed forward on the straights if you're using manual tuck? I don't see any difference in speed if the analog is not pushed forward on the straights - as long as I keep the tuck button pressed.
    Thanks again for a great video. It made me a subscriber. Hope you will be doing videos on TT Isle of Man 3 when it comes out in May. Developers of RIMS Racing will be doing it this time.

    • @banjofanatic7519
      @banjofanatic7519 Год назад +1

      Oops. I just watched it again and you mention that the analog stick doesn't affect the speed as long as the Tuck button is pressed. So there really is no need to push the analog button forward while on the straights (as long as the Tuck button is pressed).

    6:10 imo, this is really the crux of a lot of problems with bike games, the developers and ultimately probably most people that play the games that have never riden a real bike. I think it could be helped massively if they change how the bike is controlled, because at the end of the day, the bike rides itself (demonstrated nicely in a lot of experiments and riding tutorials). The key is really rider positioning and weight shifting/leaning. One way would be to make the player shift the weight via the R1/R2 which not only would put emphasis on preparing for the corner, on top of that, it would allow for a sort of asymmetric analog stick calibration that reduces the input sensitivity for the opposite corner side, since you never turn 90° to the left when you're in a right hand corner.
    Anyway, good tutorial

    • @fetB
      @fetB Год назад

      @@DrAce46 no, i think you misunderstood. Im talking a different implementation of the controls, and by extension maybe even the physics, by developers. Besides, pausing the game between every corner is obviously not very practical.
      Im talking different calibration depending on whether the rider sits central on the bike or shifted to one side. I dont know if you ride IRL, but if you scoot your butt over to one side (lets say right side), it's almost difficult to turn the bike left because it naturally wants turn/lean right. This could be translated into a bike game by tapping the right shoulder button (for a right hand turn), which then changes the left stick range to an asymmetric calibration, where the left range is drastically reduced, yet still allows for some line change without standing the bike up. On corner exit, the player taps the opposite shoulder button and the rider moves back central on the bike and the control are now symmetric again.
      But nevermind. It's just unfortunate developers dont seem to think about this at all
