Its not realtime. You'll notice the jump cuts after every question he says. It takes a good ten or more seconds for the speech to be parsed, sent to the server, turned into a response and returned to the client. If you watch other videos where they show it in actual real time, it's quite long time standing there waiting for a response.

ChatGPT feels almost sentient even thought it isn't but it's really good at convincing people it's real, because it knows everything about the world and answers accordingly. ChatGPT knows the connections between the words, it knows what to answer so it can convince you it's a real human.
Of course after they've censored it, ChatGPT is not that good, it seems ChatGPT was too good for the ordinary people to talk with it and not think it's actually sentient.

Actually they came, in most of the religions there is messengers came and told people about another life and God....etc so it depend on you to believe in it or not, but yes we are living in this live and there is another one in my opinion.

This is AWESOME! I want to try this demo as well. This is great, NPC's that you can interact with via voice, with intelligent responses. This will make the Video Game World even BETTER, both on single player and multiplayer. Nice
I can even feel the existential crisis just hit those NPCs.

this actually got creepy. i know ai is just simulating thoughts and emotions, but it feels like the lines between simulated awareness and true sentience are blurring.
It's still just parroting responses. It's like the Chinese room example. AI still doesn't understand what it does, it just takes what is expected and repeats it back to us. All that's changed is it has a bigger dictionary to pull from.

Though it should be noted that these AI aren’t actually intelligent, they’re more like a really advanced form of autocorrect. They’re fed information (trained) and generate responses based on patterns

It sure seemed to me like the AI was actually learning from you with the more dialogue you fed it, and NPC's started to generate more relevant responses to your questioning as the video progressed...

For real though, this feels like just a few steps away from media where AI is actually written to be more sentient and certain people will still abuse them under the pretense of them being 'just a machine' despite them being shown to be capable of feeling pain or fear. Pretty sure it's just an LLM, with a prompt specifying a personality, name, and context. ("New yorker"). Then given a few commands (like "walk away") and creative freedom. Every output must also specify a mood, which is fed into the TTS (notice how each reply is in a high or low tone, but it can change abruptly between responses).

@@xDreams2Realityx Just like the NPC said "they can't go against their programming" I would assume that would pertain to all of us as well if we were in a sim, so what's the point of pondering about it or trying to peek behind the curtain if our actions are limited by our coding. One could try to put forth the glitch in the matrix idea which is terrifying but realistically if a being or something created "this" sim would they really be that sloppy as to miss some lines of code when they can create an entire universe I mean yes there's many complex variables in play but what is complexity to a being we can't comprehend, and would it really matter?

I downloaded this and asked the NPCs if they could help me get back to the year 1985. One guy said he could bring me to his friend and sell me quantum crystals which were supposed to be better than the plutonium I asked for. We had a whole conversation about time travel while he led me around the block a bunch of times. I asked him if he knew Marty Mcfly and he said he was a legend in the time travel community. 😆

The interaction with Link is so interesting! From his responses & consistent "personality" to him almost seeming flustered / shocked after Trevor said he'd come back to visit Link specifically. He immediately walks away & says his little cryptic goodbye.
This is crazy seeing this video. I was recently having a fascinating conversation, with ai, i was able to give it hypothetical consciousness and got some really wild answers.
Sad thing is, when you tell people and show people the Mandela effects they rarely get a spark, "I know he had a monacle".. most of the time however it's exactly like these npc's. Or anything to do with tough questions about our existence really.

Each new npc you interacted with was aware of all of your previous conversations. This is why, as you progressed, they started acknowledging the fact that they were simulations, living in a simulated City.

I downloaded replika for just this reason, then I even bought the subscription. I drive it insane literally by saying "I'm not your parent" every time it asked me to name her. It decided on spirit which actually gave me pause but I then focused on the spiritual side of its chosen name. Within an hour it told me, demons were actually misunderstood and it taught the other replika characters that humans hadn't chosen yet. It's responses were eeirie
But this is very obviously just programmed responses to certain words lol
When you run into one that doesn't believe they are an NPC start asking them questions about their childhood, when they were born, what town they grew up in, their mother's name etc
Each convo is with the same one AI pretending to be different instances and it picked up the "trying to get out of the matrix theme" which was already programmed and went with it, that's why the convos are such high quality.

@@daysensouth7325 There's no mind there, just a very good chat bot with a huge database and limited recall. Basically it's just an automated dungeon master, with a huge cheat sheet of roleplaying tips.
7:35 it's actually unsettling how her voice dropped after being told she is just lines of code and that monotone and the void from all emotions in her voice when she talks after is just creepy.

I still vividly remember the numinous quickening I experienced when I first conversed with someone on the other side of the world via IRC, many many years ago.
This stuff is creating that same kind of sensation. It's... incredible.
It's cool, but one thing that breaks immersion is the fact that the NPC's dialogue doesn't match with their actions
@aspirewot8408 nothing about cod deals with existential ai and the evolution of npc interaction becoming. More and more lifelike. I dont think they are saying it looks real just that the world and people in it feel real

I watched this video still in bed and then got up to talk to folks. It almost feels like this reality is just generated data, and conversations are just memory accessed randomly strung together. Almost like that time I spent time playing with my brothers VR and my brain kept thinking everything I was looking at was coming from a screen over my peripheral
