The specs simply say: "Manual Flash - Yes", what it doesn't say is that the manual flash on the G5 X means it has an external hotshoe. That external hotshoe lets me control speedlites, strobes, wireless transmitters of any king, attach my Canon GPS unit, attach my GoPro Hero to tape video of the photography sessions; literally adds much of the functionality of a DSLR to a pocket shooter so you can have the best of bost worlds literally in your pocket. The fully articulating screen on the G5 X is a huge advantage, especially if you are using the features provided by the hotshoe and need a shot where you can't see what the camera sees. The G5 X also has a MACRO mode that allows macro photography and, again, the articulating screen helps a lot with the difficult focusing on a macro shot in live more. The singular advantage I see in the G7 X is that it reaches 8FPS because of the Digic 7 processor. That is a ni9ce feature and who knows why Canon didn't put it in the G5 X (probably to sell the G7 X), but I have never had occasion to use it even at 5 FPS as a pocket camera, so I don't miss it, but I don't discount it. If you do a lot of outdoor action photography, it might just be what you need. However, the G5 X packs a lot of punch for a "point & shoot" camera. The G7 seems more a point and shoot whiole the G5 X seems a mid-step towards a DSLR. Great camera for someone thinking of moving full time into DSLR purchases.
At 2:49 there is an indication that the G5X has an external microphone port. Some say that it is NOT a mic port, but rather a remote control port. Please look into to this for us. Thanks.

Thank you very much for this review. I think these two cameras are the rivals at this time, in this category. Greetings!.

Micro USB to 3.5mm for your external mic on the G5X. BAM problem solved. That lil port is only 2.5mm
Specie Vlogs tienes Link de tienda para comprar el micro? Thanks

Thank you. It's very nice
NO. G5X doesn't have MIC PORT. Have: Remote, micro usb and micro HDMI ports.

I find the g7xii way better, expect for 1 drawback: no external mic
