Hey Kyle! Congratulations on hitting 100k miles on the model 3. How’s your battery coming along ? How much does it charge to at 100% and what sort of degradation do you see ?
Hey Kyle, thank you for keeping the great classic Motoring videos flowing on this channel. I've been watching you and your various channels for quite awhile and always have been a HUGE fan of you and your content. Can't wait for the taycan or rivian truck!
I was driving my girl friends Honda Odyssey mini van up the 11,000 ft Vail Colorado pass, in November, on M&S tires, roads covered in snow, snowing all the way, it was so much fun. And there were so many cars spun out, in the ditch, the same way your video is showing. So many people not knowing how to drive on snow. Surprising.
Hello from Michigan! Exit 69 is Big Beaver road near Troy! Awesome Tesla showcase at Summer Set off that exit, test drove my first Model S back in the day, very nice staff 👍🏻
Agreed. I have seen some testing on the Nokian all-weather and it rivals a dedicated winter. Not sure what the performance is like for more spirited driving though.
Please send this video to Now You Know guys as they LOVE to bag on the slow charging speeds of Electrify America and other EV's, which usually charge at 2-3 times the speed of this Tesla. Well done review done by non-Tesla fan boys, who are objective.
@@darmou It's strange because most vehicles you can't even see the specific psi for each tire, or have to click through a bunch of menus to find it. Tesla had us all spoiled with something that worked. It's only a small change, but when it was so easy before it just feels like a huge change.
Warm water turns to cold water in not too long. If you can get your car close enough, pull up along side it, put the cable into the car through a window. Close window as much as possible. Blast heat. It will take a few minutes, but it will thaw, melt, and dry.
Kyle, I've been following your awesome videos for years now, I finally bought a 2018 Model 3 a few months back, and its a dream come true! I think the new UI sucks too. The old UI was pretty clean with its monochrome look. For example, I want to keep my mirrors unfolded when there's an impending snowstorm, and I don't think there's any way to do that anymore. I want to go on a long road trip in my Tesla with my partner, but he constantly complains about the rough ride (compared to his Lexus) and the time to charge at a supercharger, so I told him I'd have to give him a tranquilizer and sit in the back, LOL. Great video, as always!
You can totally still keep your mirrors unfolded in the Winter, just make sure that fold mirrors on lock is off for all profiles (have it set this way on our 2018 M3 with the new UI firmware). Enjoy your EV!
We did exactly same route during Christmas (from Fort Collins to Vegas) and supercharged all the way (btw, we have a few stops at NPs and destination chargers at hotels are so useful). Using those faster chargers to do longer charges instead of a slow one is way worth the time. Elevation is something to consider as well other than temperature but seems Tesla navigation considers that. And I agree, the new UI is horrible and hard to find the things since it is NOT intuitive at all. (but I am sure people will get used to it anyways)
Shouldn't you have gotten Colorado plates by now? As a North Carolinian its nice to see your NC plate for sure but haven't you lived in CO for a year now?
You’d think if he didn’t actually have a legal domicile in NC he might get in trouble for this. Some states have laws requiring registration after a certain period of time.
Another good video ... thank you for showing the road conditions. Well done!!!!!! Make a road trip out to Seattle and do a trip around the Olympic Peninsula. Good supercharger network to get you all around in one day.
I-75, north of Detroit. Exit 69 is to Big Beaver. The funnier thing is that I-75 makes a big turn and runs E-W for a big chunk of road; seemingly to make sure the Big Beaver exit isn't 68.
love your energy for EVs! I drove a rented M3 less than a year ago and completely fall in love. Unfortunately there is not Tesla's where I live (Qatar, expat) but I placed an other for a Cybertruck whatever is it the place I will have to collect it ;) Thank you for your videos , suggest keeping less than 10-15, much more appealing for watching. !
I recognized the US-6 tunnel and the turn to go to I-70 and Idaho Springs early on in the trip! I love taking that route up instead of directly to I-70, much more scenic and easier on the car too.
That was a great first road trip car. He will love the smooth ride and charging network all the way there. I love my Model 3 and had the S and X at one point. All were great road trip cars.
Hey Kyle! To search for chargers, you don’t have to press “add stop”, you just have to click in the search bar as if you were going to type something and you’ll see the “charging” tab.
Either way the old Method with the short cut was way better. I use that supercharging charging icon to plan my charging while driving so…. Another v11 issue. Wish I knew all the issues v11 had before I updated.
Nice to see you again in the now high milage Model 3. I would like to see you keep taking long road trips in this car. Let's see what kind of issues develop as the car and battery age under hard use (which the car certainly has had so far). I want to see what I have to look forward to as my own Model 3 Long Range ages. Shout out to Alisa, Ellie and Blue!
Curious about the outside temperature and the Tesla cabin temp. Were you comfortable traveling? Did climate control affect range much? I understand outside was single digits for a while.
Kyle, amazing to see how the world has changed in the last 2 years with ccs now for some stretches in the pole position. Also just how much the M3 has evolved since you bought yours.
Glad you got to check out our new supercharger here in Mesquite, too bad it was the middle of the night. When I moved here back in May it didn't exist...it's a welcome addition for the rare occassion when I need to supercharge close to home. I'd probably skip the superchargers in St. George on the way back since they're not quite as convenient to the highway as the one here in Mesquite.
I did a similar trip but in reverse (from Vegas to Denver) this past summer. It was our first family road trip AND our first road trip in the Tesla which we had just purchased the month before. We have the Model 3 long range so we actually skipped every other station where you stopped. (St. George, UT to Beaver, UT to Green River, UT to Grand Junction, CO). When we started the trip in Vegas, the Tesla navigation told us it would take 12 hours. Once we got on I-70 though, it changed to 17 hours (!?!) What? Why? Well, we discovered that there was a mudslide on 70 right before Glenwood Springs, CO and we had to take a 5 hour detour up into the mountains. Range anxiety, anyone? Well, actually, this cured me of any possibility of that because even though it was the middle of the night (something I didn't want to do) the Tesla charging network did not fail. The detour started at Rifle, CO and sent us north. There were charging stations at Craig, CO and the next one I needed to get to was in Kremmling, CO. The car handled it with no problem. We arrived in Denver early morning and enjoyed the city very much during our stay.
the drive thru the Virgin River in AZ is beautiful during the day. It did not look like you had much of a view at night. Has the console rebooted like that before or was that the first time?
love spacex. We traveled to Boca Chica to the the starshing get built. & we got the S dual motor fsd last Christmas 🎄 😎 still have the cybertruck tri motor or 4 motor fsd on order, i got lots of solar & backup battery system to charge them both. love tsla stock
Kyle love theses trips videos and other stuff on your other channel.V11 is okay but some features needs two steps now like wipers, dashcam, seats warmers, trip details. But the thing i would like to see back with this version is distance and time for long trips to know when we would arrive.
It would be good to see you watch for some really cold temps predicted, perhaps -30 or lower and take a trip into them to see how the vehicle performs.
Do you see this degraded performance from the CCS networks during these single digit temperatures? That's my only guess on these supercharging sessions not being ideal.
Hey kyle I just retired and I going to purchase my first tesla. It's just me and my wife. Which one would you buy ? Tesla model y long range or model 3 performance? You're like one of the smartest tesla people out there 👏
The more I think about it, the happier I am about getting an E-Tron vs. a Model Y. Kyle has done a fantastic job educating everyone on EV road-tripping and I enjoy when he goes on his Tesla, but the charging just doesn’t appear to be ideal for Tesla’s. I get it, his car is a little older, but still the V3’s promising 250kW and the car hanging out at no where near that.. makes you think. Keep these trips going Kyle!
It’s just because it’s freezing. I’ve gotten as low as 120kw at a 250kw charger when it’s below 20f. All cars will have significantly slower charging in the cold, not just Teslas.
The etron and MY are like night and day in terms of how they’re constructed. The main advantages for the Y are range and software, but in terms of overall quality etron is a great car. You actually get a screen in front of your face!
When Tesla predicts a certain SOC at the destination (example 5%) in winter time, it’s actually accurate or this 5% shows same in the summer time as well? I mean can Tesla calculate the extra usage during the winter time? This is what scaring me out the most. Thanks 🙏 and great channel !!!!
This is why the EV just isn't ready in this country yet. Most people would never travel that way. Much yet to be done from an infrastructure standpoint. Nice video though, really appreciate your content!
Get that car serviced, you are not paying for oil changes, but after 100,000 miles it need some TLC especially for someone who does not appear to take car of their car

You need to do a report from that cars service, I bet it's in right clip the way it's been abused probably wouldn't even be road legal here in the UK. 😂
I understand that this was a destination drive but I was hoping for details like how lone you were at each charging station and how many KW the batteries were getting - some of the stations this was mentioned and other stops it wasn't. Is the 100,000 mile battery becoming an issue or is it the below freezing temps?
This really gives all future and current Tesla owners an idea on what to expect on longer road trips. Oh man thats a lot of charging and wasted time lol
Please never get rid of the Model 3. These truly are the best videos ever
Any day when Kyle posts is a good day, these road trip videos always make my day much better! Thank you Kyle!

Kyle, thank you for putting the new software on blast! The light show and the megaphone are cool, but they made some horrific decisions on the new UI.
The difference between when an ex-Apple UI designer was at Tesla vs the new ex-Facebook UI designer at Tesla...
Great video. I just drove my Model 3 from Canada to Vegas last month but I still watched the entire thing.
I would go with an “all weather” tire as a replacement over “all season”.

I ordered a blue Tesla Y long distance car the other day because of your videos!! Keep up the great work!!
Wow. I've had my Model 3 Performance for over 2 years now and have only done 5400 miles in it so far!
"This new UI is awful. I almost want to sell my car." My thoughts exactly...waiting to see if Aptera can deliver first.
i mean v11 is still better than something that doesnt exist....barely.
@@laloajuria4678 Haha, you're right I suppose. That's why I'll wait to see if Aptera can deliver before I do anything rash.

Keep a piece of "hay wire" or any sturdy wire piece to clean snow/ice from the plugs. I keep that and long nose pliers in the trunk. You never know.
Heat pumps on M3 and MY are failing in the extreme cold in Canada.
I wondered how Teslas have been holding up. Edmonton was about -40F at one point. That ain't good for any car --fossil or electric.
