      Especially because it was so dumb. If it was a normal accident that would be fine. But man, track mode in a plaid on a public road with 100% to the rear wheels… that’s just stupid! Glad they’re okay though.

    Just commenting after your video today about your plans for the future -- new channels, new focus on less expensive battery electric vehicles, and so on. And I just want to add that "we still like the original Out of Spec Motoring stuff, too!" I first found Out of Spec Motoring back when you were starting your Tesla road trips, and I've been hanging around, ever since. And while plenty of these have been Kyle / Kyle and Alyssa / Kyle and Alyssa and the dogs, I've truly enjoyed other folks, like Alyssa and Liv (and Alice), Kyle and Lexie, and Jordan and Emad. So, yes, we always want our Out of Spec Motoring, but it doesn't always have to be Kyle all the time. Also, if you ever want to make "The Scenic Version" of any of these -- adding in a few extra minutes that fell on the cutting room floor, I think that would be just fine. I have always enjoyed the music and the scenery. And the food. Thanks, and keep on Motoring!

    Put the CCS adapter on the charger handle before plugging it into the vehicle. This ensures the locking pin actually locks the adapter to the handle. Arc flash is the hazard here.

    • @skorpion1298
      @skorpion1298 7 месяцев назад

      Hmm there shouldn't be any arcs while connection is not fully made. At first it's only communication thorough the data lines and after that come the energy. Am I wrong?

    • @ScottWerkema
      @ScottWerkema 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@skorpion1298 You are correct. The hazard is that, if the adapter is not locked properly, the connecter could come loose while charging. This is the moment an arc could occur.

    There's a recommendation for a speed limit in Germany, called "Richtgeschwindigkeit" (= 130 km/h). Only on a very limited range of German freeways you could drive faster than 130 kilometers per hour. The results are multiple incidents and a large number of drivers who lost their lives on the German "Autobahn" ( = freeway) because of ignoring the recommended speed. Better not to drive faster than 65 miles per hour....

    Fun to watch this. Love SLO, an area I grew up in and around (Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, Avila, Morro Bay, Los Osos, etc…).
    As a counterpoint to your Model S Plaid trip from Fort Collins CO to SLO, may I humbly offer my July 2022 road trip from Aurora CO to Lovelock NV, about 1,000 miles, in my Model 3 SR+? (My retired teacher EV, at $38,000.00, a bit less dear than your S, I’d venture to say.)
    Left Aurora at 86% SOC
    Glenwood Springs for 25 min
    Grand Junction, 30 min
    Green River UT, 20 min
    Price UT, 14 min
    Arrived Salt Lake City at 21% SOC (stayed overnight).
    Tooele, UT for 25 min
    W. Wendover NV, 34 min
    Elko, NV for 25 min
    Winnemucca, NV, 15 min
    Arrived in Lovelock, NV, with 22% SOC.
    (I drove onto home in Sacramento with a 25 min charge in Lovelock and a 15 min charge in Reno NV, arriving home with 16% SOC a total of 1,220 miles from Aurora. And all of this is just a small part of my 5,500+ miles from CA > KY and back! I so enjoyed the trip, and am looking forward to my next one.)
    Average energy for the entire trip: 242 kWh/mile. Keep in mind, this is July, through many areas of hot weather. And Kentucky and St Louis (where I stayed for two nights, 7/26-7/28) had some horrendous weather during my trip.
    Driving +5 to +10 over speed limit
    18” wheels (removed those butt ugly aero covers)
    Total cost for supercharging: $526.00.
    Great video as always, Kyle!
