The Dodge Demon 170 and Tesla Model S Plaid are two incredibly powerful cars, each showcasing different technological approaches and strengths. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 boasts an impressive 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the few gas-powered production cars with over 1,000 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.66 seconds and complete a quarter-mile run in 8.91 seconds. These figures are achieved on a prepped surface with E85 fuel, marking the Demon 170 as one of the fastest production gas-powered cars ever.
The 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid produces slightly less horsepower at 1,020 but demonstrates the advancements in electric vehicle technology. It features a tri-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) setup and achieves 0-60 mph in about 1.98 seconds under favorable conditions, and completes the quarter-mile in approximately 9.25 seconds at 152.6 mph. The Plaid's electric powertrain delivers power quietly compared to the thunderous roar of the Demon 170's supercharged V8 engine.
Both vehicles represent pinnacle achievements in their respective domains: the Demon 170 as a final act of defiance from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) muscle cars and the Model S Plaid as a beacon of electric vehicle performance and efficiency. The choice between them would largely depend on personal preferences regarding electric versus ICE, driving experience, and the intended use of the vehicle - Авто/Мото

@Charlesbjtown as someone who builds PEVS.... You need to understand you're wrong.

V x I = P
Where V is volts.
I is battery amps.
P is total watts of power. (Aka current)
Instant torque, AWD & ONE gear will be very HARD to beat for an ICE machine without AWD and multiple gear shifts. Each gear shift is a risk of traction LOSS (especially with RWD only). 1st gear shift (1-->2) has the MOST risk of traction loss, with risk decreasing with each subsequent shift.
You can tell the true car and racing people in the comments from the my camp mentality people.
I appreciate both cars for what they are and represent. Two very different driving experiences and two very different forms of propelling a vehicle forward.
From a consistency standpoint the Tesla has it from the start. The Demon 170 on the other hand has it from a potential to run X standpoint as long as a combination of things line up.
One represents more of a European refinement ideal while the other represents a more brutish look at me I'm an American Muscle car image.
One gives a feeling of the car being in control while the other forces you to be in control of the car.
Again I appreciate both of those. Sometimes I want to drive a more well mannered and easier controlled car. Other times I like the feeling of raw untamed power.

So Demon 170 is capable of 9.39@142.89MPH and Plaid just proved it can consistently run 9.38 but trapping 4MPH faster (on same day at same track) you guys in the comments section are hilarious with how you viewed what we all just witnessed based on what team your on. There was no massacre on either side 🤦🏻♂️
And the Earth is flat 😂
3-0 = Murder
Dodge slow as always
4mph is quite a bit.
@@Charlesbjtown yeah I’m aware 4MPH isn’t nothing, but clearly there was some more left in the Dodge where as the Tesla could’ve run all day and not improved on its times. At the end of the day I’m just happy I got rid of my plaid in 2021 for $5k more than I paid ($145k at the time) that I see they’re now $89k! 🤦🏻♂️
If racer x is going to race a Plaid, get a hold of Andrew from the Tesla Plaid channel!!
Andrew’s car isn’t stock so not a comparison for stock vs stock
A gutted Plaid wasn't necessary to win.
Gutted for gutted makes sense to me. Andrew will run out of that demons life 😂.
@@Matt.e_Black how is it not stock?
@@TeslaP3D maybe not this time.....but the 170 haa a bunch weight taken out of it.
So to make it fair for both.
I've never driven a Tesla S Plaid before, let alone any Tesla. The closest thing has been my sister-in-law's Honda Clarity LOL! While I'm sure it's other-worldly to go 0-60 in 1.9 and 1/4 mile in 9.3 in a family car right out of the box, I do wonder what it lacks in visceral feel and emotion. And I'm sure the Plaid Track Pack will make up for that. For the younger generation that doesn't know life before the internet and cell phones, it doesn't matter I guess. But I'm 50 this year and my first car was an 83 Peugeot 505S given to me for free. It was driven to the ground and ready for the junkyard. So as a student driver (with someone next to me), going 80 on a clear freeway with the whole front dash shaking violently and about to fall right off, my definition of an exciting drive is different and I have high standards. Going 60 in a blink of an eye with no engine sound and feel seems a little boring. I'm sure it's good for 15 minutes, but soon I will want to hears some revs.
My wife drives a Mach E and I drive an F150. I didn't want to like her car. I can tell you, if both vehicles are in the driveway way and and I need to make a run, I jump in the Mach E 10 times out of 10. I'm 50 and I've owned fast cars over the years, but none were and quick as this or more fun to drive. I can't even imagine how a Tesla Plaid would feel to launch.
😮 How things have changed since drag racing my new 69 Z/28 turning low 13s. With 4.56 rear gear. 😳
Plaid. Easy work.
I am a life-long Chrysler fan, but I knew this was going to be a tough challenge for any "conventional" muscle car. The Tesla almost certainly has a lower center of gravity than the Dodge which helps launch stability. The biggest difference was two-wheel drive vs AWD. Any AWD car hunkers down and grabs the road surface better than a RWD or FWD car. Racer X has apparently received a lot of flak for his results in this face-off, but that is not fair. The car is his, and he did the best he could. Be glad he took his expensive ride to the track for us to see. Thanks to these guys for this video
What people keep forgetting is that the demon is on slicks and has weight reduction, it can launch faster than the plaid even with RW, the demon level center of gravity is placed to help the RWD of the car hold more of the cars weight in a launch, plaid uses chetah stance to compensatefornits center of gravity, there is a reason the fastest drag cars are RWD and not AWD.
O por Dios, 😮 desde cuándo deseaba esa carrera entre esos dos autos y mi sueño se hizo realidad, bueno no tan realidad, ya que me gustaría verlos y conducirlos en persona, muy buen video, saludos desde México ❤
American Muscle vs American Muscle = 🔥
Is Dodge American?
@@xxZerosumxx Yeah
Can you really say that about anything today. Nope. Dodge is a melting pot of parts from Mercedes to Austrian to American while manufactured in Canada sold in America lmfao owned by stalantis. The motor is American designed and the styling is American but the motor plant is in Mexico 🤣 just like gm and ford. It’s because of the mighty dollar get a cheaper country to make it and sell it for more to us. They all do it and it should be illegal. Imagine if all these jobs were opened and companies had to pay Americans not allowed to skim off the top so hard required to pay good wages with good quality control. We would have the most technologically advanced tech in the world. but it’s not about quality that only seems to happen when time passes and the people get bored of the level forcing companies to make better stuff or competition happens between companies then we benefit but even then it’s still who can do it on the cheap otherwise do you think the demon would have an IHI blower and not a whipple 3.0 or 3.8l 🤣 💰. Facts are a 15 hellcat can make more power than that c170 with simple bolt ons and e85 🤣 they can be got for 50k and modded for 12-30k. Racer x had a hellcat that I bet would eat this demon with a little love heavier for so much less money.
No
The demon is built in Canada . The plaid is built in California so it’s American muscle against Canadian muscle. 😂
@@xxZerosumxx not really Dodge is owned by Fiat Chrysler group, which is owned 60% by Italian Fiat AG , also the demon is built in Canada.
No the US. Just saying 😮
Its crazy what it takes to beat a Tesla.
Everything
Iroz Rs3, easy work.
A 2000hp engine 😂😂😂
It's crazy what it takes to beat a powerful AWD EV, you mean. Unless you move to crazy tuned cars you gotta go to other AWD EVs. And now there are a few out there significantly faster than the Plaid.
AWD and 1500hp outta do it. Twin turbo Lamborghini or highly modded R8 or GTR would do it. Impressive though.
Tesla Model S Plaid all the way, though for me it'll more likely be the new Model 3 Performance. Thanks for the racing! Exciting stuff. The extra mass of the Tesla from the batteries doesn't hurt either. Low center of gravity and all that. Imagine Teslas 5 years from now if there's lighter battery tech and/or the Tesla Roadster 2.0 with SpaceX cold gas thrusters. :D
Those wheels on the blue Lambo at the beginning of the video are super cool.
Its going to be all about reaction time and traction limited to the dodge we all know that the ev doesn't have traction problems
Nope, reaction wasn't what doomed the demon
@@TeslaP3D
That's my opinion before you anyone else see the real video
I'm really looking forward to see what the Plaid Plus will do
Wasn't it cancelled 2 years ago?
Cancelled...... but the Roadster is coming.
@@Wirmish We've heard that for 6-7 years now.
@@Wirmishroadster was announced in 2018 now its been 6 years
Those camera are also causing a noticeable amount of drag. Shed the cameras and decrease your drag coefficient.
The fact this comment section is just people who love cars in general is epic. I love both ICE and EV when done right. The respect here is real.
Jesus christ the plaid is unbeatable lol. Good job elon for making it 90k. I hope it stays that way. We all need to be driving plaids!!!!
Amen to that!🎅
You just saw the release of the Cybertruck smoking 911. 2024 will be spectacular for Tesla. The M3P ludicrous highland is coming with 700-750hp and under 10s. 4680 S and X models coming in 2024 followed by the 1200hp Roadster ⚡️🇺🇸
@@larryc1616 1200hp roadster? 😂 I will be disappointed if it isn't closer to 2000hp or at least faster than the Rimac
@@lukabosnjak3829 1200hp/3800lbs is faster than 1900hp/5000lbs. Nevera runs mid 8's with old ev tech. 1000lbs lighter 18650/1000hp S Plaid will theoretically run low 8's. The 4680 Roadster is 1000lbs lighter than the 4800lbs/18650 S Plaid and 200hp more. 1200hp Roadster will easily go 8.0 until a quad motor option 1600hp and 7's
@@larryc1616 I thought they scrapped the M3P "plaid" version though? I know they said they couldn't call it a plaid but i did not hear anything about a 700-750hp version though. Because if they did that, what price range would they put it under? It can't touch the 70k mark because then it'll start dipping into the model s long range price and that car already runs 10.6. Either way i do wish they announce the next gen model s plaid. The M3 is too small. Model s is the perfect size. But yes this is very exciting for tesla fans. People keep saying tesla will fall but it looks like car makers are backing out because they can't compete with the master at EV.
Wow. The Demon is slow enough to see the Teslas time before it finishes!!!
🤣🤣🤣 this comment is pure wickedness.
😂💀
If you spin it's not a good measure of how fast the car is. The car is only as fast as the prep will hold unfortunately
@@RacerX9Trap tells an even clearer picture. I know you say the boards were reading trap and ET accurately...... but they weren't reading brooks correctly either. Dude has a SOLID 4 mph on you my guy. Well be even worse, should you run a plaid that's gutted like your now exorcized 😈. Sell the thing while there are still people stupid enough to hand over their firstborn for those demons, and pick up a plaid for $65K 😂
@@CharlesbjtownBrooke’s cars traps lower because he has 30k miles and teslas lose some performance as the battery deteriorates. Bone stock 170s have already trapped 147-150
Such a cool noise 🤤
Man if that demon wouldn't bunny hop it would be close, that plaid is crazy tho, factory off the lot. Only car I seen beat one was that Lucid sapphire. I would take either or.
The Demon is a collectors item.
Just because a company can now sell a car without a passenger seat knowing no one will buy it, it's a really pathetic excuse to say it's stock. Anyone can take of a passenger seat, it's just ridiculous. The games even the company wants to play for their owners is embarrassing.
Pretty wild a $80,000 (before any discounts) car comes with a nice interior and 1,025hp. Pretty much blow the doors off of anything out there while having heated seats on and listening to Spotify lol
The launch of the Plaid is part of it, once it's going the extra 600lbs is less of a factor than the aero. The Dodge has about the same frontal area & fender height as my OBS Chevy vs the sleeker Tesla.
For the price the Telsa MSP is an absolute bargain.
Also, now dealer markups.
@@gnoxycatyeah the straw buying and 200k+ markup is disgusting. The car market needs a complete revamp
But that piece of crap Tesla that you praise so highly will never outlive a gasoline powered vehicle.
The 170 needs too many variables or excuses to get any consistency! Despite our reluctance, the best technology always win!
Its also the 170 drivers first day at the track. Keep that in mind as well.
